David Arnold Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Arnold was very friendly and professional on my first visit with him. He seems young and is very easy on the eyes. His bedside manner is fantastic. My husband was very pleased with the way he came to talk to him and update him on everything going on. I had some complications so I was in the hospital 3 times in four weeks so they got to know each other well. He even came to the emergency room to see me and went and found my husband in the waiting room to let him know they were going to admit me again. The office staff is acually the Baylor WLS Center. I only dealt with his acual office staff once and they let me know real quick that they don't deal with WLS patients and to call the center. The WLS staff is fantastic. They are very busy and sometimes you have to call back but patience is what this is all about. The WLS Center and Dr. Arnold are great about aftercare. You have a 2 week follow-up, 6 week follow-up and a 6 month follow-up with the surgeon. You also go to a pre-op, 2 week post-op, 6 week post-op and 6 month post-op with the Dietician. Baylor WLS Center has support group meetings monthly as well as the web site. The aftercare program is very well structured. The risks of surgery are discussed throughly and you are made aware of all the complications and risks involved with the surgery. I would go with Dr. Arnold as my surgeon again. Overall I would rate Dr. Arnold as an excellent surgeon and hope anyone else using him had as good an experience with him as I did.
My first impression of Dr.Arnold was "wow he looks very young"!!! After talking with him I just had a very good feeling about the surgery. I had really made up my mind about the surgery, before meeting him and had researched this for about 3 years so I did not have a bunch of questions for him. I really like his demeanor and sincerity that he was really on my side in this struggle with weight loss.
The office staff has been very responsive.
The only problems that I have encountered with the office is having to leave an unplanned $1,000 deposit to secure my surgery date. This information was never given to me in advance even though I had asked several times including a call the morning before my consultation.
Baylor has a wonderful aftercare program: continued support from staff and physician, support groups, nutritional consults, exercise consults, and a wonderful web site with other Baylor Buddies.
Dr. Arnold was very frank about ALL the risks including death that are associated with the surgery. He also discussed at length what can be done to treat complications.
I would give Dr. Arnold an Excellent, Excellent rating. He is wonderful.
Dr. Arnold is a terrific surgeon and has a great bedside manner. Very sensitive and professional. Very smart, but approachable and reasonable in his expectations.
Dr. David Arnold is a very nice & down to earth doctor. I met him at my seminar & he spent a lot of time talking with my sister & I. He's young but has a great reputation & has worked with the best. The office staff I've met so far are FANTASTIC!! They have a system for phone calls that can be frustrating but is for the benefit of efficency. It's a VERY busy office but when I've spoken with them they have been very friendly and thourough. Their program is excellent & has fantastic pre & post-op support!!!! WONDERFUL support system & groups!! They don't pull any punches about the risks & explain the surgery & all that it entails very well. I'm still pre-op but so far I would strongly recommend Dr. Arnold & the other Drs. in the Baylor Weight Loss Surgery Center. I think, of course, it's of the utmost importance to have a very competent surgeon but if you are unable to communicate or connect with them I think that can compromise your care almost as much. I'm very glad that Dr. Arnold & his associates have both--competence & bedside manner!!
