David Arnold Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.
Like others, my first impression was that he was too young. BUT, as I get older, all of my doctors remind me of Doogie Howser - they are ALL too young! rnrnHe is very professional, but kind. He answered my husband's and my questions with patience and not once did I feel that I was asking stupid questions. We were not rushed or pushed toward any decisions. I was impressed and comforted by his success rate. I've had enough surgeries to know that there can be complications and he was very reassuring. He assured me that, although he can't do the surgery alone (not enough hands!), that he hand picks his assistants.rnrnI don't get warm fuzzies from the office staff, some are friendlier than others. However, they do their job well. Your followup visits are scheduled with the PA, who I like very much, but if you ask they will schedule you with the doctor. rnrnThe waiting room is filled with large chairs, a scale, a fish tank and free coffee and water. NO MAGAZINES except Sports Illustrated. Bring something to read. You usually don't have to wait long though.
My first impression of Dr Arnold is that he was very confident. My impression has not changed. He is still very confident. The office staff was great. They were very helpful through the whole process. Even through the complications I couldn't have asked for more caring and attentive people. The only person I DID NOT like was the psychologist. She was a very pushy and judgemental individual. I understand that her job is to weed out individuals who are not right for the surgery but she pretty much wrote me off and talked to me as if I were bipolar. I didn't get a warm and cozy vibe from her like I did with the rest of the staff and I can honestly say that she is the last person I would go to if I had any psychological problems after surgery. The aftercare program is great. I haven't seen nor heard of one better than the one at Baylor WLS. The support group is great. There are many times I don't know what I would have done without them. Dr Arnold addressed all of the risks of surgery including death in the orientation that was done before surgery. Not one time did he try to hide anything. He was very straightforward and to the point. I would rate all of the doctors through the Baylor WLS program as EXCELLENT. In my opinion there's not a better team of doctors around. I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are important. You can't have one without the other. And Dr Arnold definitely had both qualities. Thank you Dr Arnold for my new life!!!!!!!!!
WELL, MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF MY SURGEON WAS, WHAT A YOUNG NICE, POLITE, HANDSOME MAN, HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS FULL OF LOVE, FULL OF CONCERN, IT WAS JUST LIKE THEY WERE MY FAMILY, THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL LEAST I LIKE ABOUT MY SURGEON OR HIS STAFF, HE AND HIS STAFF STRONGLY EMPHASIZES ON AFTER CARE AND JUST A PHONE CALL A WAY WHEN YOU NEED THEM, I WOULD OVERALL RATE MY SURGEON AND HIS STAFF AT A PERFECT 100 PROVIDED THAT YOU DO ALL THAT IS REQUIRED OF YOU FROM THEM, WHICH WILL DETERMINE YOUR OVERALL SUCCESS, MY SURGEON HAS VERY GOOD BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE(he breifed me and my husband hours before surgery exactly just what would happened and what to expect and the timing on everything the day of surgery)AND BEDSIDE MANNERS(were awesome after surgery he sought after me none stop which is very important because I was in lots of pain and him re-assuring me just made it better knowing that he did not leave me alone
First impression was "he's so YOUNG!" But after speaking with him for a short time, I knew HE knew what he was doing. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Dr. Arnold was willing to take the time to answer all questions. Since I was a "borderline" case, but approved because of my diabetes and arthritis, he was honest in saying I would take longer to take off some of the weight and I may not reach my goal weight. But anything lost would dramatically help my diabetes. 3 weeks post op and 30 lbs lost of the 90 I need to lose. I think I am doing great and he is very encouraging. I am looking forward to seeing him on my 6 week followup.
I would highly recommend Dr. Arnold. He is compassionate and extremely competent. He has a great sense of humor. These are of course my opinions only and may not be shared by other patients. Everything went smoothly and as he said. I have no complaints about Dr. Arnold or his staff.
Dr. Arnold was great. I thought he was very nice. He listened to all the questions I had and didn't sugar-coat anything. He told us the risks and what they involved. He was very detailed. I really recommend Dr. David Arnold because he is such a great surgeon. I felt like he never saw me as a big person, but just Amy. The surgery center has a great support system and the staff is good at letting the surgeons know if you need to talk to him or have questions regarding your surgery. I believe Dr. David Arnold is the best doctor I have had with any of my surgeries. Of all the surgeons I have dealt with he was the best.
8-12-04 I've met with Dr. Arnold only once so I have a limited viewpoint at this time, but he seemed to be very confident, patient, nice, informative and was easy to talk to. Everyone at the Dallas WLS Center was very nice and very helpful. They explained all the paperwork and process in detail. I am satisfied with Dr. Arnold and feel comfortable knowing that he will be doing the surgery. He was very assuring. Aftercare is extremely important and he emphasized that to me. He wanted to make sure I understood that success post-op is up to me and how well I follow the process. He definitely has a structured aftercare program and recommends group meetings at Baylor. He went into all the details of the risks of surgery with me. I would rate him as extremely high at this point. It is best to have someone that is surgically competent with bedside manners.
9-1-04 I met again with Dr. Arnold 2 weeks post-op. He was great in the hospital prior to surgery and on his visit during my stay. The entire Baylor staff was excellent. All were very helpful, encouraging, and pleasant. At the 2 week visit with Dr. Arnold he was very interested in how I was doing and spent as much time with me as I required. He was not in a hurry and covered everything I could of. He was great!
My surgeon Dr. David Arnold is really nice, and during my consult he was very open to answer any questions that I had in regards to the surgery, pre-op and post-op. My impression of him hasn't changed yet, but I dont think that it will. Like I said he is really nice, and his office staff is also, they are very helpfull. Anybody considering to have surgery should go to him. Like I said he is really nice, and ladies he is not that bad on the eyes either. He emphasizes aftercare alot, inform how important it is to take care of yourself, excercise. He helps you to get ready for surgery. And he will be sure to also let you know of all the risk involved, you will not go in blind to anything. Overall on a scale of 1-10 I think I would rate Dr. Arnold and his staff, an 11. His surgical competence is great, and is bedside manner is even better. As far as anything negative, I have nothing at this time, I am scheduled for my 2-wk post-op visit soon, I will keep you posted.
He was young. After talking with he I knew he would be a good doctor. The office staff was great everyone was helpful. That he is cutie. He stated that it is up to you to make sure that you execise and eat right. He did address the risk on the surgery which I was already aware of. I think that he will do a great job and I trust he with my life.
