Dr. Daniel Davis is my hero! Dr. Davis is a skilled, laproscopic surgeon. He handled my unusual case with determination and superior ability. His bedside manner is kind, friendly, and professional. Because of his confidence in handling difficult cases, I felt I was in expert hands with Dr. Davis. After consulting with 5 different surgeons, none of whom were confident they could take-down an old Kuzmak gastric band, a friend suggested I pursue THE BEST surgeon in the area from NY Presbyterian at Columbia. I'm sure glad I did! I have recovered nicely and am losing weight easily. Dr. Davis' practitioner, Gio Dugay, gives me the attention and care I need. When I was hospitalized post op practitioner Gio Dugay was at my bedside as often as possible, Dr. Davis, Dr.Bessler and their team worked super hard to ensure my recovery. Dr. Davis' administrative assistant, Kristen, administrator of their office in Ridgewood, NJ was friendly and on the ball! I give this surgical team the highest possible rating for expertise in handling difficult cases like mine and patients in general. They are truly the BEST!.................... {{My first WLS was perfomed by Dr. Lubomyr Kuzmak who gave me one of the first Adjustable Gastric Bands in 1988. I required a revision in 1993. Both the initial gastric banding and the revision were done with full, OPEN surgical incisions that left me full of adhesions and scar tissue.rnAfter AGB (Adjustable Gastric Banding) surgery I realized that Dr. Kuzmak did not fully explain the nature of how the lap band supposedly decreases food intake. I was told I would feel \"full\" or \"satisfied\" after eating a small amount of food. Instead, after eating or drinking even a tiny amount of anything,rnI immediately felt the need to vomit.rnDr. Kuzmak told me to AVOID eating or drinking soft foods because the wholernpoint of the operation was to eat dense foods thatrnI would not be able to tolerate so that I would eat only a forkful or so for any given meal.rnEven that forkful would not stay down and I rnvomitted for a year after the initial gastric banding until my insides were so inflamed, the band had to be replaced.rnI believe that Dr. Kuzmak failed to provide referrals to professionals who could address rnthe cure of my compulsive over eating. Dr. Kuzmak rninsisted on keeping my band super tight because he told me I was a \"poor candidate\" for surgery to begin with and would most likely defeat the surgery. Dr. Kuzmak reprimanded me for not losing weight atrnthe expected pace. He retired without referring me to a surgeon who might be willing to reverse the band (thoughrnthe reversibility of the operation was onernof its selling points). When I contacted Dr. Bertha, the surgeon who supposedly adopted Kuzmak's practice, he was unwilling to even see me for a consult.}}.....................................rnrnDr. Davis had the complex task of 'taking down' the old AGB installed by Kuzmak. Although I was on the operating table for longer than anticipated, Dr. Davis was able to keep me closed and complete the surgery laproscopically! Dr. Davis performed the 'take down' and the Bypass that has helped me to save my own life. I believe Dr. Davis is one of the few surgeons in this country who could have handled my case successfully.rn

My first impression of Dr. Davis was that he was polite and warm. He was very informative when answering questions. I felt comfortable when seeing him, and he has a very welcoming smile. I was refered to him by my Endo, and have been pleased with the decision ever since. I am looking forward to my surgery, and the new journey afterwards. I must say that Dr. Davis' office staff is excellent....I have to say it again EXCELLENT. Gio his NP has a great personality, there is not a question that he can't answer, and if he is not totally certain, he will get back to you. He should get his MD, he would be a GREAT Doctor! Kristen is wonderful, she is very helpful and pleasant. She gets the ball rolling and keeps you informed. She was very helpful when I decided to change procedures after all my paperwork was in. I would rate them very high, whoever put them together did a Great Job. The team is GREAT! I look forward to the Journey!

Dr. Davis DO, a wonderful surgeon. I am 4 days Post Op and can say he was wonderful before the surgery, coming in to comfort me and my family...and he was terrific while I was in Recovery - an awesome bedside manner with a terrific staff of nurses....and great surgical competence. I have very little discomfort, and I praise Dr. Davis for this.

I just had my first visit today at his office at Valley Hospital. I only met the nurse practitioner, Gio, but he and the office staff were amazing. They made me feel so comfortable. There so no wait at all in the office and everyone there was so pleasant. He answered all my questions patiently and put me totally at ease. I am really looking foward to working with this team.

I had my RNY surgery with Dr. Davis on 2/22/06. I am currently over 7 months post-op and am down 205 lbs. He is a great surgeon and was able to do my surgery LAP (at Columbia )even with my weight at 585 lbs. I went to the Center for Obesity Control at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville for my initial consultation and post-op care. I was pleased with the office staff at Lawrence, but just felt that they should guide pre-op patients through their testing instead of giving them a list of test to complete on their own. I did have one complication after surgery which was a blood clot. It happened three weeks out of surgery and it required a 9 day stay in the hospital. I was warned of this type of possible complication before surgery, but it didn't change my decision to go forward. Dr. Davis came by to check on my progress everyday during my stay. I would highly recommend using him for your surgeon and would definitely recommend waiting for an appointment to have your surgery performed by him at Columbia in NYC.

I met Dr Daniel Davis in August and I had my surgery on 9/11/06. Knowlegable, professional and has confidence in his ability as a surgeon. Surgery went as planned, no problems whatsover. I chose Dr Davis as he is a surgeon at Columbia Presbyterian(NY) and they have introduced a center of excellance for obesity surgery at Valley Hosiptal in Ridgewood, NJ. The amenities at Valley are excellant and the pre-op and after op care is great. I was discharged 6 hours after surgery.rnrnMy follow up will be with Gio (obesity nurse) who works closely with Dr Davis. Gio is very knowledgable, and has extensive expertise in working with lap bad patients post op.rnrnI'll be back with further updates as I make progress.rnrnI have nothing negative to say about this process. I know that it has brought a new hope to my life that I can control my weight. I have lost 10 lbs already.

Dr. Daniel Davis is truley wonderful. I had heard wonderful things about the Dr. and I have to say when I meet him his warm smile was the charm. Besides that he explained all the details about the surgery(Lap Band). What I liked the most was that he did not try to push Gasteric Bypass as other doctors do. He listened to my concerns and agreeed that this was the best option for me . I love his staff Kristen (wonderful) and Gio also wonderful.rn I had surgery on May 22nd 2006 and down 31 pound and counting. I recomend him to all..

I met with Dr. Davis at the Obesity Center for Valley Hospital in NJ. He is not only nice looking, but seems to be a very genuine person. The nurse practioner, Gio, was also very nice and willing to answer all questions. I felt at ease at completely at peace with my decision to go with the lap band. They seem to be very pro lap band. There is a structured aftercare program and I believe that they will be there to help every step of the way. Risks of surgery were outlined well and questions were always encouraged.
