He is a very caring Dr. asked me all sorts of questions. Seemed kind of quiet at first. He addressed the risks of surgery but also the risks of NOT having surgery with the obesity factor. I recommend him and his staff heartily.rnrnrn I LOVE my DS! Check him out if you are WLS shopping!rnFeatured Bariatric Surgeon Clifford Deveney, M.D.rnrn3303 SW Bond AvenuernPortland, OR 97239rnPhone: (503) 494-4373rnFax: (503) 418-4189rnVisit Website http://www.ohsu.edu/health/page.cfm?id=10085rn
Have only seen him once for 8 minutes throughout the entire process, lol;rnVery Competent Surgeon - risks, care and outcomes well explained by program and staff;rnOHSU Staff think highly of him;rnOffice staff, specifically Susan Fee,RNP and 'Tara' are extremely helpful and responsive;rnOHSU has a very thorough program; Hospital stay had a few challenges but some very caring people work there - always wise to have a personal advocate with you in a hospital when you're not feeling well to watch over you and help!rnVery appreciative and pleased with the entire process and experience - would recommend the program to anyone. rnrn
Surgical competence is awesome. I was a laprascopic patient, but I was afraid that my BMI was too high. Dr. Deveney had no problems performing the surgery laprascopically.rnThe OHSU hospital staff was warm, caring, competent, and supportive. I have nothing but praise for them.rnDr. Deveney's staff is very busy, but they take excellent care of you, it is well worth the time spent. The medical staff are friendly and knowledgeable, they know what they are doing. I felt very comfortable asking any questions I needed to. They are very patient, and will take the time to answer all your concerns.rnThese people literally helped save my life!
I was very impressed with Dr Deveney. He ws very friendly and when I ask him a question concerning my blood disorder and how they would handle it. He answered and I felt very good about his plans as to what he would do in my case. He is a teacher at OSHU and one of the best around so I felt he was the doctor I wanted to do my surgery. rnrnThe office staff were all very nice and I have no complaints about anyone there. The surgery went well and I was very pleased with the hospital care I received. Dr Deveney came in each day and discussed with me any problems. rnrnI would rate him and his staff all a 10
Dr. Deveney gave the orientation presentation about WLS and I was extremely impressed with him and very much at ease knowing he would be my surgeon. He was straight forward about the possible complications and overall risks of WLS, but even given the risks, Dr. Deveney's confidence and professionalism made me feel at ease rather than more fearful. This is what helped me make the final decision that WLS was the most important thing I could choose for myself at this point in my life. The office staff are very cordial and respectful, and this also helped me feel secure in my choice. Future patients should know they may not find a better surgeon than Dr. Deveney. He's simply the best. It constantly amazes me how successful this surgery was for me. Dr. Deveney's competence and bedside manner are both exactly what I wanted and what I needed. All I can say is, thank you! You've completely changed my life, and I couldn't be more grateful!
Dr. Deveney is one of three surgeons at Oregon Health Sciences University who supervise a teaching environment. He is very gentle in his demeanor and easy to approach with concerns and questions. The staff is constantly changing, but generally friendly. Aftercare is great for the physical part of it, but the accessability to interaction with other clients is limited to a once per month session held at night in Portland (100 miles away from where I live). I found it to be of no value to me personally. Dr. Deveney is an excellent surgeon, I have almost no surgical scars and his bedside manner is kindly and efficient. I felt very well attended during the whole process...just searching for more emotional support in aftercare.
Dr. Deveney is a brusque, busy guy, who has tons of experience behind him but not a lot of time for patient interaction. His nurse, Vicki, is wonderfully patient and accessible, and she really is the go-to person throughout the experience. I have no complaints about Dr. Deveney, though-he did a fantastic job on me with zero complications. I felt well-supported throughout the whole process.
I chose Wolfe, then found he's not doing any lap procedures, so I had the option of Deveney or O'Rourke - I chose Deveney for scheduling reasons, I feel either he or Dr. O'Rourke are equally qualified, so it was a matter of convenience.rnrnNot happy about Wolfe being publicized and touted as \"the\" guy around OHSU, then to find a week after my date with him is scheduled, that he won't be doing my procedure. I don't like being a victim of workplace politics . . .
I haven't met the surgeon one on one, but he was the Dr. who spoke at the OHSU Digestive Health Center WLS informational. I was impressed with his years of surgery and overall knowledge, comfortably and confidence with the different surgery options. Some Dr's have this cockiness that they know everything and I feel that really knowledge doesn't show itself that way. I never got the \"cocky\" thing from Dr. Deveney. Just really concern and understanding of people who need to have the surgery. I really hope that I can have him do my surgery, but the entire center is considered a \"Center of Excellence\" by my insurance company and I feel confident that I will be well taken care of which ever Dr. I get. He is the Chief surgeon though.rnrnAs for the office staff, great, everyone that I met at my intake was nice and talked to me like a human being and not another fat person. I personally have experienced this on multiple occasions. Being treated poorly because I am fat, like I don’t have feelings or I am less of a person because I am heavy. So this approach to my health care was very refreshing. They are willing to work with you to make this happen and I appreciate their efforts to advocate for me.rnrnI will update this as I go on along with the process. I am still waiting for my psych evaluation from the same center. I will write again after that appointment.rn
