Dr. Gupta is very professional. She explained surgical procedures and risks in great detail. She is an excellent surgeon and has taken great care of me in and after surgery. I know I made the right decision in choosing her. I have to tell my friend that highly recommended her to me that she was right on the money when she told me about what a great surgeon Dr. Gupta is.
Dr. Gupta is a very knowledgeable surgeon. I've had some complications from my RNY and she has been very proactive at trying to find a solution and help me work through the issues as they arrise. Between the RNY, a RNY revision, and 14 endo's (w/12 strictures & 3 ulcers), 2 perforations, and a suspected internal hernia, I feel very comfortable with Dr. Gupta, as well as Dr. Jones and Dr. Caccucci.
I really don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Gupta. She has been right there for me through alot of complications.
Dr Gupta was very informative of the procedure she would do. Very matter of fact and did not give false hope. Explained in detail how this surgery is a tool and not a cure all. The patient has to be very committed to the success for this to work. You can't sneak M&M's or other no no's! If you plan on eating the same things you did before the surgery this is not going to work for you. My biggest downfall after surgery was that because I didn't feel like eating, I didn't eat. That caused my stomach to heal smaller than intended and I had to go in to have it scoped and reopened 6 times!! You would have thought I would've learned after the first time. Dr Gupta was very patient with me through all this and explained to me the importance of eating right/healthy vs. eating wrong and losing the battle of weightloss. If you are looking for a doctor who will sugar coat things and tell you what you want to hear vs. one who is honest and straight forward, pick someone else. Dr Gupta is caring and has a wonderful bedside manner as long as you follow the rules and do what is expected. You can't expect success with this surgery unless you are willing to make the sacrifice.
Initially, I was surprised by how young she is. I was also a bit worried that she hadn't been practicing as long as some of these others at Carmel (RoseMarie Jones, for example). However, Dr. Gupta was extrememly professional and upfront. She explained all the options and the benefits and risks. The office staff was great. I've only met Dr. Gupta once, and I'm currently awaiting the hospital's call with my surgery date. I cannot wait!!! Overall, my experience so far has been great. Dr. Gupta is very professional, maybe not so personable, but certainly professional. I'm very much looking forward to her being my surgeon.
I was suprised at how young Dr Gupta seemed. It only took a moment for me to realize how educated she was though. She not only has an interest in her practice but she has an interest in finding out more about obesity itself. I also love the fact that she is very upfront. She shares the possible complications right away and makes it very clear that surgery is not an easy way out. Making the decision to have the surgery is a life long decision and if you give up at any point you will be right back to obese. You will never eat the same again. Never is a long time and she makes you think about it. She is also straight forward in making sure you understand everything about the surgery pre op and post op. I left the consult getting more information than I had even thought about. I honestly feel like I have considered every aspect of the surgery and I am ready to go ahead with it. I am just waiting for my psychologist appointment that my insurance requires for pre approval.
When I first met Dr. Gupta a few years ago (She removed my Gall Bladder) I was happy with her, but not with the hospital at all. (Carmel St.V) But, I guess they are done renovating the hospital now, so hopefully things won't be so crazy. My husband couldn't find a cup of coffee anywhere in that place.
But, when considering WLS, I turned back to her office and her skills. I had NO complications from my gall bladder removal and her office people were very nice.
I met with her one on one after the seminar and she remembered me, which made me feel nice. She is direct, honest, and I think she really cares about her patients. She didn't blow any smoke when I asked her about any of her past patients that have had complications. Honesty is very important to me.
She uses Binders after surgery (A HUGE PLUS FOR ME!!!) They were live savers after my C-Sections.. If your surgeon will let you... USE THEM!! They help with recovery like you wouldn't believe!! I was up walking at walmart 5 days after my last C-section.
She is great... fun, down to earth and a hard working surgeon :)
