It has been over 9 years and I still regret my decision to have surgery. I have had nothing but one problem after another. I am constantly sick and don't get to enjoy life as I expected too. A person always hears only the postive things of a person, never the negitive. It is as important to know the failures as well as the sucesses....I have learned that the hard way. I still find it impossible to find medical care because no physian wants to handle my issues because of all the complications I have had. I am 51 years old and grandmother of two beautiful little girls...there is so much I should be able to do with them but cannot....
My name is Brenda Wood and I had my surgery on June 19th, 2002. My surgery was done at Holzer Medical Center In Ohio and my surgeon was Dr. Charles Stone. I had major complications and I am a miracle. I spent the first 8 days in ICU, which I have no memory of. I spent a total of 40 days in the hospital and was sent home with a pic line and had nothing by mouth for approx 3 months.rnI had developed an infection which resulted from a leak from the surgery, I also had phenomia, high fever, and kidney failure. I was very sick for a long time. Dr. Stone was very nice to me in the beginning and his staff was wonderful to me, but after he suddenly left the hospital I felt deserted. I felt like I wasn't wanted there anymore. but no one actually said that. I now am having problems and I feel like I have no where to go. I feel like I was let down by Dr. Stone because I now have problems but have no where to go. The risks were discussed with me, but I just never dreamed that anything like that could ever happen to me. I have gained some weight back which I am not happy about but am dealing with it. My e-mail is [email protected]

I was impressed with Dr. Stone and Dr. Gerig at my initial consultation. They spent alot of time with me and listened to me speak of my reasons for wanting to have AGB instead of the RNY. I was never presured to lean toward the RNY, they respected and agreed with my decision - even though neither at that time had preformed one.rnrnThe were will to do what it took to get the training to being preforming the increasingly popular AGB (Lap Band) and on 5/20, me and four other women for the first to recive the band from Goshen Hospital, Team Bariatrics, and Gerig Surgical.rnrnI no longer see Dr. Stone.

he was awsome to me..i miss him alot he moved to in..i had him in ohio..he is so compassionate dosent pull no punches with you an tells you what an will happen to you..staff was great except for the gal who was there look at me i used to be fat chick..wheww i wanted to stuff my fist in her face to fake for me an now i know why.the program they offered for support was great but not for me i work straight after noons so i miss out on alot..

My first impression of Dr. Stone is that he is warm, accepting and well-versed in bariatrics. My impression didn't change very much except that I did feel some judgement from him. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not. He wasn't as \"warm & fuzzy\" as I thought he was going to be. However, he remainded very professional and is very good at what he does. What I liked least about Dr. Stone is I that I occassionally feel he minimized the problems that I was facing. However, I don't feel as though these were overlooked, just not necessarily important. In other words, his bed-side manner is satisfactory but his surgical competence is excellence. To have both be excellent is most preferable, but I would definitely recommend this doctor.rnrnThere are several very wondeful members of the office staff. This is especially true of Kathy, Terri & Sandi. These three ladies help have helped me more than they'll ever know! :)rnrnAfter care was really emphasized by Dr. Stone and his staff. There is a very structured after care program given to patients and it's relatively easy to follow. Dr. Stone was very honest about the risks of surgery and these were presented in an upfront and honest manner. It also helped to see the computerized program of what was going to occur.

1. He was very nicern2. I found out that he was carring and that I just wasn't another patient, I was a person.rn3. Most everyone is just happy go lucky and were just intuned to you.rn4. Nothing rn5. If you want a doctor that is concerned about you and has that old time bed mannor. Dr. Stone is the one.rn6. alotrn7. yesrn8. Very imformative rn9. I would give him 150% He was the best doctor and I would refer him to anyone.

Dr. Stone immediately impressed me with his personability, knowledge and honesty. He impressed me by being forthright about the risks involved, in the different types of surgery. He emphazied education pre and post surgery. More importantly he gave me hope for the future. On the day of surgery I saw Dr. Stone no less than three times, once before surgery and twice after. He was concerned, very kind and supportive. I've never met a surgeron like him. He is also a general surgeon,(one who I'll be going to for any other surgical needs!) Dr. Stone is that rare physician that combines surgical competence with an impeccable besdside manner. Overall, Dr.Stone and the comprehensive staff, at Team Bariatric made me feel special, like they were all my cheerleaders! I was lucky in that my course of treament so far is without complications.

Dr. Stone is a very caring doctor and treats his patients with the utmost professionalism and concern for their well-being. He also expects the same level of care from every provider encountered, from the hospital nurses to the bariatric staff. He addresses the risks of surgery and every possible concern with honesty and in great detail, until he is satisfied that every question has been answered. The before and after care are extensive and address each individual's needs.

Dr. Stone is a compassionate, knowledgeable professional. He explained the surgery in detail, and in terms I could understand (including hand-drawn pictures that will never grace a museum). I never once felt any fear about the outcome of the surgery with Dr. Stone at the helm. After the surgery, he visited me several times - one of the nurses remarked that she was impressed that a surgeon would stop by twice in one day to check on a patient! I discovered a surprising sense of humor hidden behind that professionalism and appreciate that he does not distance himself from his patients as some surgeons are wont to do -- no god complex here. My own GP doctor went to Dr. Stone for his surgery. I recommend Dr. Charles Stone and the entire TEAM:Bariatric to anyone looking for bariatric surgery of any kind.

I had my gastic by-pass in St. Vincent's Hospital in Carmel, Indiana. This review is for the surgeon who did the repair on that surgery. (It should be noted that I was hospitalized 11 times between September of 2003 and June of 2004, for intestinal blockage and dehydration and malnutrition.) Dr. Stone is one of best surgeons I have ever met (I was in the medical profession for 20 years) or had. His knowledge of Bariatric and other surgeries is really astonishing. He is able to explain what needs to be done and how it can be accomplished in terms that anyone can under-stand. His staff is friendly and competent in working with patients. Everyone in the office seems to always have a smile and a kind word for the patient. Dr. Stone and his associates are always there when you need them--days, nights, 24/7. I feel confident in their care and trust their medical expertise. Dr. Stone addresses the risks of surgery, but does not go overboard or sugar-coats it, either. In my personal opinion, he rates excellent in surgical competence and bedside manner.
