Charles Callery Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

I liked Dr. Callery right off, his kindness was great and his care was extradinary.
My impression of his not changed.
Dr. Callery's staff was one of the things I like best. They never made me feel inhumane about being fat.
The only thing I did not like about my surgeon was the fact that he was in Poway, CA and I am in San Diego. For someone who is on public transportation that's a long ride.
Future patients should know that a Surgeon like Dr Callery exist.
My after care is great.
The after care is well organized.
Dr. Callery was upfront about all the risk that come with this kind of surgery.
I'd give him a 10.
Both Dr. Callery's bedside manner and surgical competence is fabulous. He is the first medical professional that didn't look down his nose at me for being fat. He was able to see the human being. You don't get that much any more.

My first impression of Dr. Callery was one who cared about my health. My impression continues to this day. His staff is caring and professional. I can't find anything I don't like about him at this time. Future patients should know that "
You are in excellent hands." His aftercare support is extremely important to use. I was impressed that he follows weight loss progress closely and is always willing to answer any questions. In his first information class. He tells all the risks and chances of complications and answers questions.Out of a scale of 1- 10. 10 being highest I would rate him an 11. He is a great surgeon and has a exemplary staff to support his patients. He has surgical competence, excellent beside manner, and cares about his patients. He was a GOD send to me.

Dr.Callery and i finally met 5 days before my surgery.He was very soft spoken,he is very professional and kind,and, with a good sense of humor.All of my concerns and questions were awnsered and i feel confident with him.His staff is very good,they work well together.I would recommend this surgeon highly.I feel that I know what to expect before, during, and after my surgery.

Dr. Callery and group are all wonderful and very helpful.

My surgury was 1/31/00, and my first weekend home (5 days post op) was a nightmare. BUT Dr. Callery was there for me and helped me make it through all of the problems I encountered.

Dr Callery has a fabulous support site and system set up. They have onsite group meetings and online support groups.

I rate Dr. Callery and staff a perfect "10"!

Dr Callery was recommended by a very close friend of mine that had the surgery over 3 years ago. Very knowledgable staff and offer several types of pre and post operative support groups. They want to be sure you understand what is going on and you must have your spouse attend a meeting prior to even having your initial consult. Very professional. Dr. Callery moderates all meetings. I met with the Nurse Practitioner and office staff for all the pre-operative stuff, but have yet to talk one on one with dr. There is a wonderful woman by the name of Marte that can tell you what you need to know when dealing with insurance companies. She knows who approves and who is a pain to deal with. She knows what to send and what to say. She as well as anyone in the office is there to support you and is available for any questions you might have.

DR. CALLERY IS A VERY NICE MAN, HE HAS A WONDERFUL SENSE OF HUMOR. HE SEEMS VERY DEDICATED TO THE CAUSE, AND THROUGHLY EXPLAINS ANY QUESTIONS. THE STAFF ON A WHOLE IS FABULOUS, VERY CARING.

I was initially frustrated when contacting Dr. Callerys office. I couldn't even go to their 3 hour information seminar until I got approval from my medical group for the consult. I did all the work, got my medical records, scheduled my tests. Contacted his office continually to make sure test results had been recieved. After I initially faxed them all my paper work including an essay of why I wanted the surgery it took 5 working days for them to call me to tell me they needed additioal info. The office staff is not a friendly bunch over the phone but was pleasant when I was seen in the office. I liked Dr. Callery he's straight forward, funny and very personable. He has a RN that saw me prior to his exam, she also does his rounds at the hospital. This makes me a little nervous that the Dr's schedule is so tight he can't handle the load himself. But she seems very knowledgable and I'm comfortable with her. We found out just days prior to my consult my company was switching insurances on 07/01. After I was told everythng was submitted they came back with the Dr. requiring a psych eval. The Dr. my insurance approved was on vacation until July. After much anxiety I finally paid out of pocket but was seen the same night. They made sure I understood all the risks involved. I have had three family members have the surgery as well have researched for quite some time.

Dr. Callery is really great. It's a nice
change seeing a Dr. that doesn't blame all
your aches and pains on your your weight.
He even said I have thin legs, what a joke.
Kelly, Laurie, and Marte are just wounderful.
They answered all my questions, and always
returned my phone calls in a timely manner.
I feel I am in good hands and look forward
to my surgery and working with Dr. Callery
and his staff.

Very impressed, Great follow-through. He
doesn't put on a "show" as some of the other surgeons I have interviewed. He offers on-line support group which has been very helpful.

In February I first consulted with Dr. Callery and was impressed immediately with his professionalism and personalable approach. He made me feel comfortable right away. I love Kelly and the rest of the staff, Laurie and Martie have always been very supportive.
For anyone that is planning on having this surgery I wholeheartedly recommend that they do whatever they can to have Dr. Callery perform their surgery.
I am about to start his group sessions which I have heard from other patients are great support.
In finishing my family feels great with Dr. Callery which is a giant plus.
