Carlos Barba Bariatric Surgeon

Dr. Barba is very nice, funny and seems to care about all of his patients. Sometimes he seems a bit distracted, but I guess he has many patients to keep track of. He made sure I knew all of the risks having to do with the surgery, and he has a pretty strict aftercare program. rnrn

I met Dr. Barba at the informational session I attended on December 14, 2006. I was very impressed with his sense of humor and the information. i will save the rest for our personal consultation.

I like the way he greeted people when I frist saw him 2 years ago. and came to know doc. barba to be very understanding and very friendly to any patient he speaks spanish and thats a plus for me .. he really sits down with you to explane everything that will happend and what may acure which was very helpfull and his staff are great they go out of there way to help you and let you know what you may need ..I would recamend Doc Barba to any one who needs help he really cares so dose his staff. I thank god for him and his staff because its hard to find people who would take the time to care about you and be understanding and go though great lengths to help you ..

Dr. Barba came across as kind, knowledgable and very skilled at what he does. I felt very comfortable with him and had no hesitations. rnHe and his staff conducted very thorough classes and one on one appointments which told me all I needed to know.rnNutrition, aftercare and exercise were all gone over in detail as were what to expect post-op physically. rnMy only wish was that I got to see Dr. Barba more during my aftercare follow-up visits vs. the physician's assistant. The P.A. was great and very knowledgable but I would have liked to check in with the dr. a bit more.

Dr. Barba is one of the most dedicated, caring surgeons I have had the pleasure of meeting. I knew from the first time I heard him speak that he was the surgeon I wanted to perform my surgery.
Not only is he very qualified, he definitely wants to get to know his patients and keep informed with their progress even after surgery. His extensive pre op evaluation program makes sure his patients are totally informed of the risks of surgery and that they are physically and emotionally prepared for it and any poissible complications. He continually follows through with all of his patients to make sure they are receiving the proper post op care, especially while they are still in the hospital.
He's not the type that wants to perform surgery and forget about you. He definitely knows the importance of after care follow ups and wants to be in a position to correct problems as soon as they arise. He dones't want to wait until something is really wrong and then find out that someone didn't contact him because they were ashamed of gaining weight back. He would rather work with his patients and see if they can decede together what is going wrong.
I definitely recommend him to anyone interested in receiving a competent, professional, successful surgery.
I rate him a 10 out of possible 10. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great and his patients are always happy to see him.
His post op care is phenomonial and you are given appointments for 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and annually thereafter. He wants to be sure you are doing well and he will not forget you after performing surgery. He is a dedicated professional and it's an honor to have had him for a surgeon.

I met Dr. Barba at info seminar and found him to be very knowlegable, experienced, with a good sense of humor and very approachable.

I am very happy that I have Dr. Barba. He really helped me as I was a revison from a VGB(Vertical Banded Gastroplasty) that was completly blown.
I recommend Dr. Barba to anyone in the CT area, his staff is also the best you can get. At first glance, I thought, my god he employees only thin people. To find out that at least 2 employees (that I know have) had the RNY surgery!! They offer a lot of much needed support.

I WENT TO THE CONFERENCE ON APRIL 2005, AND DOCTOR BARBA GAVE AN EXCELLENT PRESENTATION EXPLAINING THE TWO PROCESS GASTRIC BYPASS (OPEN) AND THE LAPAROSCOPIC BAND PROCEDURE. HE APPEAR TO BE VERY CONFIDENT AND KNOWLEDGEABLE OF HIS WORK, THEY DO HAVE AN AFTER CARE PROGRAM , HE ADDRESS THE RISKS OF THE PROCEDURES IN A VERY RESPONSABLE WAY NOT TAKEN IT LIGHTLY BUT WITH CONFIDENCE, MENTIONED THAT THEY HAVE HAD NOT TO MANY OF THIS INCIDENTSAND THEY ARE PREPARE TO PROVIDE MEDICAL CARE FOR RISKS. I WAS CONTENT WITH THE INFORMATION PACKAGE AND THE WAY THEY DO THEIR WORK WITH THE PATIENTS. RIGHT UNTIL NOW I HAVE BEEN TREATED VERY WELL AND I AM ALMOST TO GET MY SURGERY DATE. I HAD GOOD TESTIMONIES ABOUT FRIENDS AND OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAD THE SURGERY WITH DOCTOR BARBA. HE IS BEEN DOING THIS FOR YEARS AND I AM CONFIDENT IN HIS WORK. AT THE END HE ANSWERD QUESTIONS IN A PERSONAL WAY , I SAW THIS AND THE WAY HE TOOK TIME FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL, AND GAVE ME A GREAT IMPRESSION AS THE QUALITY OF A HUMAN BEEN HE IS. AS 12/15/05 I HAVENT HAVE MY SURGERY BECAUSE I FINISH WITH MY APP, RECENTLY, I HOPE THAT IT WILL BE ANYTIME SOON. I AM WAITING FOR A SURGERY DATE.

Dr. Barba is such a caring doctor. When I was looking for a surgeon to do the procedure, I emailed Dr. Barba. He answered me directly and gave me information and invited me to his information session. I went and met him. He was AWESOME! Not only was he informational but also answered questions.He is fun and jokes around with you. . He always has a smile. He knows his patients by name. He comes to the support meetings and is just such a great inspiration to everyone. The day of my surgery he let my husband know right away about me. He visited me every day at the hospital. And always had that smile. I have not found one of his past patients that has anything negative to say about Dr. Barba. He definatley is my knight in shining armor.
