I agree with those that praise Dr. Barba for his charming personality and surgical history. When I was initially admitted into the program, he was part of the St. Francis bariatric group. That group was very organized and competent. Right around the time of my surgery, Dr. Barba broke from that group and went private and my experience with his staff (follow up, information, handling of paperwork, scheduling) was problematic. I have recently undergone a follow up surgery with Dr. Barba, and the experience was absolutely not positive -- paperwork to my insurance carrier was lost several times, pre-op instructions to me were incorrect, the procedure was not carefully explained. My hospital care for the recent surgery was not good, and the surgery has resulted in several complications including a bad \"hospital\" infection. I still feel that Dr. Barba is an extremely competent surgeon, and he still is very personable, however in my opinion, I feel that he may have increased his patient base beyond the point where he, or his office staff can provide the kind of care and follow up that are needed.

He might be a great doctor but he has to work with his staff. They are very rude. They encourage you to pay in full for visits before you receive them and personally I dont see nothing wrong about it, but I wasnt able to get the surgery becuase of some medical reason and the nutrisionist said I was going to get $150.00 refund out of $250.00 that I pay in my first visit. A month later I call because I didnt receive anything yet and I have the opportunity to talk to the doctors' daughter, she again state that I was going to receive $150.00 in a week. A month later from that last call I talk to Vicky and said that the refund is of $100.00 and it takes about 30 to 45 days and it havent pass to her desk. I told her what the previous people told me and she said they dont know nothing about refund. She transfer me to who said she was the manager of the practice, she keep saying that the refund is of $100, $50 X 2 visit with the nutrisionist and 1x initial visit with the doctor (this I didnt get). When I told her that I havent receive that service she state \"well then is $75 per each visit with the nutrisionist\" I said \"how convenience to change now\" and they hang up the phone. You see Lap band is a commitment to go to the office for life. Do you really want to go to an office like this for the rest of your life. — Sherley Cintron rn

Dr. Barba is wonderful, I felt so comfortable with him right from the first time I met him. He listens and takes his time to answer all of your questions. I knew I was in good hands. He and his staff explained every detail of my surgery. I had no surprises. I would recommend his services to anyone who asks me. He has a great personality, he is an expert in his field, and he has a great balance of competence and bedside manner which was very important to me.rnrnHis office staff is very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with their organization and attentiveness.rnrnDr. Barba's office has a structured aftercare program and the support groups are invaluable both in advice and support.

The biggest thing I noticed about my Dr. was that he farms people in and farms them out so fast that is seems he is only in it for the money.

My 1st impression of Dr. Barba was awsome, I went to a 2 hour information meeting and he was very informative and quite humerious. He put it all on the table, there wasn't a question I had after the 1st meeting about risks or living with lap-band afterward. I was also very impressed that to see him personally attend support meetings.rnDr. Barba's staff was the utmost professional, always returned calls imediately and was and is very caring about the patients needs and concerns.rnI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Barba.rnDr. Barba was very therough about pre-op testing, he covered everything and anything that could be a possible risk for me. rnDr. Barba and his staff deserves a 10 in surgery and bedside manner. I highly reccomend him to anyone.

At the seminar, Dr. Barba struck me as engaging and knowledgeable about his field. Personal research showed that he had a great deal more experience than some of the others locally, that he solely focused on bariatric surgery, and that his educational background was very good. I felt confident that he was the best choice for surgeon. rnrnI didn't really \"see\" him but a couple of times before surgery and, I think, once or twice in the hospital after surgery. But he had an associate to see me every day in the hospital I think twice.rnrnSome are very focused on personality...but I wanted ability more than personality. I would say with Dr. Barba, I got that! He has a pleasant personality, not overly cocky or arrogant, and from where I am sitting (4 days post-op, he has a great deal of ability! rnrnI was informed every step of the way. I do not feel that there was anything they \"should have told me\". rnrnOverall, I would rate Dr. Barba very highly. He had a job to do and he did it beautifully. The rest is up to me!

Excellent personality, personable and confident. Took time to explain all details of the operation/aftercare. Office staff seems very good as well. I will have more feedback after 3/12/07.

my first impression was how he was able to put things in understandable terms. competent and warm with good hands. this is still how i feel today.rnthe staff at this time,is friendly and responsive. rnHonore,aprin .and Scott, pa.always have been there to answer any question.Honore has been especially helpful.i'm o.k.with that,and i feel well taken care of.dr.Barba is very busy and it can be hard to talk to him personally, but a good surgeon would be busy. he will always get back to you ,or have someone on staff reach you . i would rate him a 10 for competence and bedsie manner.
