They aree very helpful and good at guiding the way.

Nothing so far.

So far.

He very much is a pusher off the proper aftercare.

Yes.

Pointblank explained all the risk. I really liked him being honest about it all.

I think both aree important I waant him to be competent yet able to speak with.

I met with doctor Ben-Meir last week and he was very helpful answering my questions. I took in 3 pages of questions and although I didn't ask all of the questions, he was very patient in answering them. The office staff was also very helpful. I had direct contact with Latonya who handles the insurance and she was very reassuring to me. She told me that my insurance only requires me to give proof of need from the doctor and that I should have an approval very quickly.

My surgeon was very patient with me. My husband told me I asked the same question 3 DAYS IN A ROW! but I didnt remember because of the anesthetic - but he graciously answered me each day! lol.
One thing I did not like about the hospital staff is that they carry on in the middle of the night like its the middle of the day. I dont care if its like the middle of the day for THEM - THEY have a job because WE are there - and its NOT the middle of the day for US! So quit yelling down the hallway. Quit talking so loud at the nurses station that I can hear you in the last room down the hall.

My appointment with Dr. Ben-Meir was 3/5/04. He was very good at answering ALL my questions. He took his time with me, asking lots of questions about my health. The "exam" was minimal to say the least, took about 45 seconds.

Of course now I've thought of a hundred questions I should have asked him, mostly about after the surgery.

I had my Lap RNY surgery on 2/25/2004 with Dr. Ben-Meir (at the Cleveland Center for Bariatric Surgery, St. Vincent Charity Hospital), and I was extremely impressed with Dr. Ben-Meir's skill and compassion. He continually communicated with my family before and after surgery, and would check on my status every day after surgery personally. He is fantastic, and I will be forever grateful to him for giving me a second chance at life.

When I initially met Dr. Ben-Meir, he had had an extremely busy day (I was the last appointment on a Friday evening), but he gave me his undivided attention. He was insightful, inquisitive, and --dare I say it? -- funny. I felt as if he genuinely cared about my health. Now that I've had my surgery, I know that he definitely cares about his patients.

Before selecting Dr. Ben-Meir as my surgeon, I had met with other bariatric surgeons (at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Columbus), and I felt as if I was just "a number," or a patient on an assembly line. With Dr. Ben-Meir, however, I felt like I was treated respectfully and as an individual.

Dr. Ben-Meir is fabulous! He has taken very good care of me. He is very thorough and makes sure you are comfortable with anything that he has to do during the course of your care. He is very cautious with his procedures as it is a serious matter. His has a very competent staff, nursese, dieticians and office. All very personable and there to help you with whatever you may need.

The wait was long due to some other health issues, but it was well worth the wait.

He made sure I knew the risks of surgery several times over, especially since I had a heart catheterization that resulted in the tearing of my right coronary artery which then needed 3 stents totaling 78mm in order to save me. That prolonged my wait, but Dr. Ben-Meir wanted to be sure that I was fully healed from the heart incident before he would proceed.

He's a "10" in my book, that's for sure. His surgical competence is outstanding right up there with his bedside manner!

All the others have stated the obvious in regard to Dr. Ben-Meir! He is a warm wonderful personality and amazingly skilled surgeon. I am 10 months post op and so thankful for the chance I was given to be "normal" agian. I work in healthcare and can say without a doubt the physicians in the area I have been in contact with hold him in very high regard and are greatful their patients now have a laparoscopic option locally with such tremendous post operative success! When deciding on a surgeon look not just at their credentials and post operative success look at the follow up care and program you will recieve. Your surgeon has done his job when you roll out of the OR doors. It is up to you and the SUPPORT PROGRAM you get postoperative to what degree you will succeed! I am sure that without the post operative plan offered by the TEAM at CCBS and without this amazing surgeon I would not be able to say today that I have never second guessed my decision to have Lap RNY WLS and would lay down on the table tomorrow without any of the fear and hesitation I did the first time around.

My first impression was good but as time went on it got better. I felt very confident in his abilities and as I got to know him better, really enjoy his personality. I've been very pleased. Office staff is also very helpful but extremely busy - not always easy to get them to respond.

The program is good becaue it is comprehensive both pre-op and post-op.

I think he is an excellent surgeon and very good comprehensive program.

My first impression: April 14, 2003 He was thorough and even pointed out the risks for me with my severe asthma. He joked with me and other patients waiting because he was stuck in surgery and so all our appointments were delayed.

The only negatives I have to say concern some of my communications with the office staff of the hospital. However, I did not base my decision on the office staff but on the qualifications of the doctors and their successful record. If I had to do it over I would still choose this hospital.

Met my surgeon again at the Hospital's Christmas Party for their bariatric patients. (A plus in my book!) I introduced my husband to him and told him he would be operating on me in one week. (I hadn't seen him since April)

I don't remember seeing him the morning of my surgery but he came to my room that evening, almost 12 hours after my surgery, to check on me.

Because of the holiday I did not see my surgeon again but one of the others on staff. I was impressed with all the doctors and would recommend this hospital and these doctors to anyone looking for competent bariatric surgery.

They are definitely Top-Notch!! Kudos to the hospital and it's staff.

Dr. Ben-Meir is a very nice doctor, very through on the consult visit and very caring. The day of surgery he came and talked to me before the surgery and made sure I was doing okay. When I have gone for my check ups after surgery he is very compassionate and very encouraging about your progress. He wants you back to see him after surgery at 1 week, 4 weeks, 6 months, 12 months and 18 months. He also told me if I ever need to talk to him to ask him a question to call. He told me not to take advice from other people but to check with him.

His bedside manner and surgical competence are both out of this world. He made sure he stopped in to see me the day I was being released before he went out of town because he was concerned because I had a fever the day before. I feel very comfortable talking to him, he is a very nice person.
