I decided to have weight loss surgery in January 2012. It was just after the holidays and I was tired of being miserable. At almost 300 pounds I decided that I had enough. I attended the required 1st time seminar in February and scheduled an appt to see Dr. Trivedi for a consult a few weeks later. Dr. Trivedi was kind, compassionate, understanding and extremely knowledgeable. He had an excellent bedside manner and I immediately felt comfortable with him. I decided to forge ahead with scheduling the Sleeve Gastrectomy. I underwent the VSG on April 25, 2012. Unfortunately for me I had a rare complication from this surgery. Dr. Trivedi was there for me every step of the way. He treated me and my family with extreme kindness and compassion. Not only did I feel like he cared, I know he really did care. On May 3, 2012 (a week after my VSG) I had to have a conversion to the RNY. With all of this being said, this was still THE BEST decision I ever made. If I had to do it all again I would. Dr. Trivedi saved my life in so many ways. I went from weighing 300 pounds to 165 pounds a year later. I am able to go to the gym and do intense workouts and I love it!!! I'm able to run around after my 2 1/2 year old son. I have gained so much confidence. I went from being on high blood pressure medication to having completely normal blood pressure and not needing to be on any medication any longer. I could go on and on about what this surgery has done for me. Thank you to Dr. Trivedi, his wonderful staff and the amazing nurses and nurses aides at Hackensack University Medical Center. Without all of you I don't know where I would be.
Dr. Trivedi was awesome. He has the best bedside manner. He really calmed me down right before my surgery. I was so nervous and he made me feel so much better. He is also great at what he does. I found him to be very skilled and knowledgeable. I would recommend him to anyone who lives in the area of Hackensack University Medical Center or even to people who live in parts of New York like myself. He made it well worth the drive.

On July 18, 2012, I attended Advanced Laparoscopic Associates Laparoscopic Surgery for Obesity seminar at the Hackensack University Medical Center. At the end of the seminar, I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Amit Trivedi for August 28, 2012. I want lap band surgery and Dr. Trivedi recommended the Gastric Bypass due to routine maintenance required for the lap band procedure. After the consultation, he referred me to his Pre-Surgical Coordinator, Camila Araneda. I spoke with Ms. Araneda about my decision to hold off until the following day on scheduling my surgery until I decided on procedure. She provided me with her fax number and an informational packet. The following day (August 29, 2012) I faxed Camila Araneda a letter with my decision to go with the Gastric Banding Surgery. I spent the next few days trying to make contact with Camila Araneda to schedule my surgery. My surgery was scheduled for October 18, 2012, with the understanding that I needed to see the nutritionist, psychologist, and have blood tests. On September 20, 2012, I had my appointment at their office with the nutritionist. On September 26, 2012, as I was preparing to leave my home to go to my psych evaluation, I received a call from Ms. Araneda. She told me that something came up and she needed to cancel my surgery for October 18, 2012 and she managed to reschedule me in on October 31, 2012 for my surgery. On October 3, 2012, I received another call from Camila Araneda stating that my insurance company wanted me to see the nutritionist over a 3 month period prior to surgery and therefore she needed to cancel my surgery for October 31, 2012 and would call me back with a new surgery date. On October 18, 2012, Ms. Araneda called me back to see if I was aware that my surgery on October 31, 2012 was cancelled. I let her know that we spoke a couple of weeks ago and I was waiting on her to call back with my new surgery date. Again, Camila Araneda stated that she needed to check the schedule and would call me back. On November 5, 2012, I left Ms. Araneda a voicemail message for a new surgery date. On November 15, 2012, my mom was ill and needed to go to the hospital, so I called to reschedule my nutritionist appointment and asked to be transferred to Camila Araneda as she still had not returned my call. She picked up and asked me when I wanted to have surgery, December or January? I responded that the end of December would be good. She said the only availability in December was on December 31, 2012. I told her that was fine and asked for an approximate time. She said she didn't have a time because she needed to talk to the hospital and would call me back. On December 20, 2012, I was at their office for my rescheduled nutritionist appointment and asked the front desk staff member if she could confirm my surgery date for December 31, 2012. She asked who was the doctor? I told her Dr. Trivedi and she said she would get Camila to come out and talk to me. Ms. Araneda stated that because it was New Years Eve she needed to talk to the hospital and get their availability, but would let me know. On December 21, 2012, I left Camila Araneda a voicemail message to see if she had spoken with the hospital staff (as she stated on November 15th and again on December 20th). On December 24, 2012, I called the office and waited on hold for Ms. Araneda. At that time, she told me that there was no availability on December 31, 2012 and my surgery was going to be either on January 4, 2013 or January 23, 2013. I asked when she would know as I needed to plan accordingly. She said Wednesday (December 26, 2012) because scheduling is gone and will be closed on Tuesday for Christmas. On December 26, 2012, Ieft Ms. Araneda another message and never heard back from her. On January 1, 2013, I mailed a letter to the office requesting assistance with obtaining a surgery date or informed that for whatever reason Dr. Trivedi did not want to perform my surgery. I didn't even get the courtesy of a reply. I wasted the past 6 months with his office and now in February I will be starting my process over with a new office.
i first heard about the practice from one of my friends that had the lap band done. i met Dr Trivedi at one of their seminars and i knew from the start i wanted him to do my surgery. he was very easy to understand and went over every single question and concern that my mom and i had. i actually switched surgeons b/c we liked him so much. during my consult we went over everything again and discussed which surgery would be best for me. i walked out of his office feeling very confident in my decision. his bed side manner was great. overall he just made me feel very comfortable and he talked to me and not at me like some surgeons tend to do. i would definitely recommend him to anyone that wants to get this surgery.
Dr. Trivedi and his associates are THE BEST in their field in my opinion. Very low complication rate and very concerned about their patients. Even their "Fellows"(residents/interns) are great. I drove 2 hrs. to get to his office and the hospital. The office is very busy, efficient and caring. He is as concerned about your aftercare as he is in the pre-op period. He has structured support groups monthly free of charge. I would rate him as excellent. His competence is equally as great as his bedside manner.
I'm a week out from the VSG (sleeve) and what I can tell you is that Dr. Trivedi is an expert surgeon.
I'm not the smallest patient to walk into his office, but I can tell you that I walked out of the hospital with more pain in a glute muscle (from the actual operating table) and the IV needle in my hand than from the actual surgery. I have had small issues since, but no major gas issues, no reflux or nausea as well.
Again, I'm just a week in, but close to 30 lbs lighter already. Based on the actual surgery, the office staff (helping us get approved), and the immediate after-care, I would strongly recommend Dr. Amit Trivedi.
Dr. Trivedi performed my gastric bypass surgery well; there were no complications. He was patient with me and really seemed to care about my health. I am glad that I decided to go with Dr. Trivedi for my procedure. I recommend him to anyone who needs weight loss surgery. His office staff members are friendly and helpful. It can be busy at times and the wait time in the waiting room is long but Dr. Trivedi is worth the wait.
