My first impression of Doctor Brader was very positive. He was unhurried, friendly, imformative and he made me feel very comfortable.
My impression only became better the longer I was in his care.
His office staff is competent, although I think they could use some more support, perhaps an assistant could take on some more of the administrative duties.
Future patients should know that they are in very capable and skilled hands. As far as the actual surgery, they should rest easy if Dr. Brader is their surgeon. Every precaution is taken. After reading some of the profiles posted here, I can't believe how some people were treated in other facilities.
Aftercare is emphasized, as it should be, and there is a comprehensive program that is invaluable for recovery and long term success.
Dr. Brader addressed the risks of surgery with straightforward information and clear answers to my questions.
Overall, I rate him as the most likeable medical professional I have ever met in any field. I never felt ill at ease for even a moment. In fact, I can't imagine better care, even if my own mother was my surgeon. The entire staff, and I mean every single person you will deal with at Barix Clinics is exceptional. I have nothing negative to say about my surgeon, or my care, or my stay at the Barix Clinic. If it invalidates my review that there are no negatives here, I think that would be sad because it is in fact, an accurate report of my experience.
Dr. Brader is extremely sensitive to the obese population. He never looks at you like are anything less than a "normal" person. He is extremely knowledgable in the field of WLS. His staff is attentive though overworked. I would recommend him to anyone looking for for first class surgery and follow-up care. The aftercare program is strict and clear. I would prefer nothing less than the strictness as it leaves no room for failure except nature. Dr Brader was never rushed, annoyed, superior and anything less than completely attentive. He is someone that other physicians should look to for excellance in practice.
My first Impression of Alan Brader was that he was there for his patients and he was very truthful about the surgery itself. My impression of him never changed ,because he was a great doctor right from the start. His staff members are very professional also.I have nothing at all to complain about, everyone there at the Barixs Clinics were very nice.If I were to do it over again I would of picked doctor Brader again and again...
I met with Dr Brader Last year(I was denied by my insurance...Thankfully husband has just been given upgraded insurance. Getting my knees pretty dirty while waiting.......May The Lords Will Be Done!). I just had a 2nd app with Dr. Brader on 9/01/05 to update my info.
Dr. Brader is very informative I felt he was very understanding and knowledgable about obesity. I also felt he personalized my visit according to what is best for ME! My husband worries/apprehension's were put to ease after speaking with Dr.Brader(that was very important to me)
The Office Staff were very helpful...for once in my life I didn't feel Dr and staff were looking at me and just seeing fat but they saw me as a person w/ much potential for health, beauty and a future energetic life:)
Dr. Brader was very thorough about the possible risks...My personal opinion for what its worth:
Being Morbidly Obese is more of A health risk than WLS!
Overall as of now......a 9/10(I never give 10's they make for swollen heads:)
I will be able to rate better the further I get in the process!
I do wish his office offered a packet to prepare us for the surgery and what we can do to get the weightloss ball rolling while we wait for insurance approval....just a lil info on what the next steps are(I Love 2 Read on this subject...lol)
I actually started out with a different surgeon. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I switched to Dr. Brader. So far, I have met Dr. Brader twice. The first time was during one of the Barix Clinic's information sessions. I highly recommend that anyone interested in having the surgery attend one of these free seminars. Even if you plan to use another surgeon. This was extremely helpful to me in deciding if this was the right decision for me. I thought that the presentation would simply be an advertisement for the Barix Clinic. I pleasantly surprised that all of the presenters were clearly focused on giving out information on the actual surgeries. Dr. Brader gave a very thorough review of each type of surgery. I also met with Dr. Brader for my consultation. He was extremely realistic about surgery benefits, and possible complications. He was upfront about the surgeries he performs and his background. He was very easy to talk to and asked very relevant questions. I will have my surgery laproscopically on August 10th, 2005.
I met with Dr. Brader in February. Very respectful, informative, and had a great spirit about him. I felt comfortable with him and appreciated his explanation of the surgery.
Unfortunately, I've had a fairly negative experience with his office staff. My file has not been handled correctly. I gave them my medical clearances because they told me to, but then they never sent them to the insurance coordinator. I waited three weeks then called back. I was told my file had been faxed to BCBS but BCBS said it was not received. Then it was faxed again, but without my cardio, pulminary, or psyc eval. I never recieved a letter stating I even needed a psyc eval. Then I got a denial letter from BCBS BECAUSE they required these three things....ugh!! I called Angela in Dr. Brader's office and she was not helpful or sympathetic in the least. It was very frustrating. I waited ten weeks to find out that I was not approved because Barix didn't send in the correct paperwork nor did they tell me I needed a psyc eval.
I was very lucky and got in for a psyc eval tomorrow morning. Once that is done it must be faxed to my insurance coordinator at Barix. She will fax the psyc eval, along with my cardio and pulminary clearances, to BCBS for review. I just can't tell you how frustrating this has all been. When you're a nice person, it's really difficult to be assertive enough to get things done. I can't have this surgery during the school year. I need to have this done during the summer. I set everything up so that it was possible, and now I've got no guarantee that this will even happen this summer. I've been told a spot has been reserved for July 29th. We shall see if it happens. I'll be devastated if I have to wait until next summer.
My first impression of Dr. Brader was a good one. What I liked best about him was that he never once made me feel rushed and I was full of questions that I'm sure he's heard hundreds of times. He was confident yet humble and gave me an honest overview of the procedure and it's results as well as the importance of aftercare. The office staff was adequate though I'm not sure the receptionist should be in the middle of the waiting room as it didn't offer much privacy if it was needed. I have read good feedback on this website and was pleased with my consultation. After our meeting, my husband and I met with a patient counselor. She was a patient of Barix as well and it was nice to be able to ask any question I wanted of her and she was open and honest about her personal experience with post op life.
4/19/05-Went to seminar at Barix clinic in Langhorne Pa. Very nice facility and caring people. Very friendly atmosphere. Met Dr.Brader at seminar. This seminar confirmed to me that I did want my surgery with Barix and Dr. Brader. His is very easy to feel comfortable with and that is not a common thing for me. Most often it takes me awhile to feel comfortable with people. Office Staff was very personable and I like that they have had the surgery so you feel that they understand your feelings. Im sorry but a skinny person just doesn't know and is the last size person you want to see at a WL center! They do have an aftercare program which I like. I feel like they will be there long after the final discharge day.Dr. Brader did address the risks of surgery but to me any surgery has risks.I feel the whole visit, center itself, Dr's. & staff are exactly what I want going thru this process in my life and I am glad I chose them. I have all the confidence in them.I have as yet an negative things to run into with them.
