Dr Brader has a dry wit and a ton of experience. He has done a large amount of these surgeries as well as other abdominal surgeries. he has also been a surgeon instructor in NC. I knew that he was for me when my BF who HATES DR's and anything medical and does not trust a soul looked at me and said " i trust this guy"
He is very thorough, but you do have to be assertive and ask your questions because he wont pull them out of you.
Hi. I had my surgery on March 24, 2006. Dr. Brader was there at each step. He came in before and after surgery and was there each day to check on me. If there were any questions and the nurses couldn't answer them, they would call him. He was great and I would recommend him to anyone thinking of having this surgery. My husband is scheduled to have his surgery by him on April 24, 2006 and I wouldn't have anyone else do it for him but Dr. Brader. Many thanks to him and his staff.
I met Dr. Brader on January 24, 2006 and after I heard him speak, I knew I made the right decision. I thought he was wonderful. He explained things in a way that made you undestand the procedure and made it very easy for to understand everything he was talking about. He had patience and he was full of confidenece. When I had my one on one with Dr. brader, he made you feel like you where his only patient. He wanted you to ask as many questions as you needed to and did not rush you out. He was very nice and very easy to talk too. I would recommend him to anyone.
Surgeon: Alan H. Brader, M.D.
I've only met Dr. Brader once, during my consultation at Barix Clinics, Langhorne, PA on 10/8/05. I found him to be a very likeable guy with a good sense of humor and knowledgeable about the process a patient goes through when they've come to consider this solution. The consultation was informative and reassuring. He talked about the risks with the surgery as well as the measures he takes to prevent such possibilities (a thorough examination of one's medical history; and he checks for leaks during the procedure). He was in no rush to set a date for surgery until other concerns were addressed. He also stressed the fact that this surgery is one of the initial steps that can lead to a successful outcome. The program at Barix is complete and includes nutrition education, support groups, exercise down the road, reconstructive surgery and life-long monitoring.
I saw Dr. Brader on 2/15/06 he was wounderful he was so informatived on the lap/rxy I just felt so relaxed with him the office staff was also very nice i loved seeing the befor and after pictures of the girls. i just can not wait to hear from my insurence company they said not to worry i have bc/ personal choice but i just want to hear approved. they did stress what my part will be after surgery and i am ready. i cannot say enough good things about dr. brader. if any one can help let me know how long they had to wait to hear from the same insurence as me please let me know.
Dr. Brader was very informative. He explained in detail the types of surgery he peforms. He drew diagrams so I could visually see how the surgery works. Initially, I was interested in the lap band procedure, but after discussing the side effects associated with the lap band, I changed my mind and will have the lap. GBP. His nurse was the most patient and kind nurse I have ever encountered. She made me feel extremely comfortable. Dr. K was more to business, so he did not give me the fuzzies, but I did not expect that. He made me feel like he was confident in his abilities. He left the "fuzzies" to his support staff. After speaking with him, I was even more assured that this WLS is for me.
Dr. Brader was wonderful! At our initial meeting he took his time explaining things and answering all of our questions. He never seemed rushed or impatient with the questions I'm sure he has heard a million times. Surgery day Dr. Brader made me feel at ease and calm, and he was very attentive afterwards as well. Dr. Brader is kind and caring toward his patients and wants to help the obese population. You never get the feeling he "looks down" on you at all! At my post-op, he wasn't rushed and he took the time again to answer all of my questions and alleviate my worries. He is very honest about goals and aftercare. He lets you know what to expect and why.
As for his office staff...they are nice, but they seem overworked. They take a LONG time to return phone calls, but that's to be expected I guess with all the patients they have.
