Dr. Brader is now affiliated with Heart of Lancaster hospital and opened BMI of Lancaster in Lititz. He did my surgery in Oct. 2011 and it was the best thing I have ever done for myself. He is a wonderful surgeon and a great guy who will go out of his way to help you if you have a question or problem. I felt like I could trust him the first time I met him at his info seminar. The office staff are all amazing people and followed him from LGH to the new practice.
When I met Dr. Brader, I could not believe how down to earth and laid back he was. He explained everything about my surgery in detail and gave me his honest opinion of what my weight loss goals should be. After surgery, I liked that I met with him one on one instead of meeting with a nurse or someone else that did not do my surgery. Dr. Brader helped keep me accountable at every visit, which I liked (even when I didn't like it!). He also cheered me on when I accomplished some of my big goals for losing weight. HE GENUINELY CARES ABOUT HIS PATIENTS AND IT SHOWS! I'm so glad he's still practicing in Lancaster. The Heart hospital chose a great surgeon!
He was FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on May 2, 2011.

At the seminar, Dr. Brader came across as campassionate and competed. Whenever I've spoken to his office staff, they bent over backwards to help. Right now I'm rather angry. I had my surgery September 15 and didn't get out of hospitals/nursing home/rehab for almost 10 months due to complications to surgery. I also had to have 3 more operations: remove 3 cups of infection from abdomen, to correct the gastric bypass, and to do reconstructive work on my intestines. I also had a cash of pancreatitus. While in the nursing home during the last stages of my complications, I developed a surgical hernia. The nursing home called Dr. Braders office on 3 seperate occasions to help me with this problem. Yet nothing was done in the way of lab work, xrays, or scheduling appointments to check out my physical conditions. After I got home, I spoke to another surgeon to fix the hernia. And yes, the new surgeon did fix it. Posted on Feb. 6, 2011, 8:21 p.m.

Dr. Brader perfomed my weightloss surgery on May 25, 2010. My first impression of Dr. Brader was a no nonsense not gonna BS around kind of surgeon. He tells you how it is. He doesn't sugar coat anything. I love his office staff, they are always so helpful, informative. They answer emails on the weekend. He is very strict about after care. He sees you ALOT afterwards! I have my one year post op coming soon. His after care program is very structured and support group is spectacular. We have monthly meetings which are instrumental in your success. His bedside manner was great after surgery. Surgerical competence was spectacular. I have major issues outside of my WLS and Dr. Brader got me in touch with specialists when all my other dr's were at a loss and had given up. Without Dr. Brader's help I wouldn't have my life back and would be in a wheelchair forever or dead. I owe him my life. I have nothing but GREAT things to say about Dr. Brader and his staff. That may sound suspect to people. But I followed his after care instructions specifically. I understand this is a tool and not a quick fix. You follow his instructions do what your supposed to and he will help you to no end. You try and BS him and he has no tolerance for trying to see if you can "out smart" him. I did have several insufficiencies in vitamins afterward and they worked with me. I take my vitamins but had other unrelated complications that inhibited my absorbtion of them. They knew I was taking my vitamins (they can tell from bloodwork) and they never gave up on me. I died in January 2011 (obviously they brought me back) due to adrenal insufficiencies and Dr. Brader helped me through it. Never gave up, checked up on me eventhough he wasn't my doctor for this issue. So does Dr. Brader care? yes. Is he a great surgeon? yes. Will he support you? YES YES YES
My first impression of Dr Brader was that he seemed very knowledgeable about bariatric surgery, and also very down-to-earth. My first impression hasn't changed. Office staff is great. I really couldn't ask for better. They've been a huge support. They're very helpful, and take good care of all their patients. Aftercare is very important in this program. They follow you for several years, and have monthly support groups for those who have had or are considering bariatric surgery. He made sure I knew all the risks going into surgery- in fact, I had to have a psychiatric evaluation to make sure I knew what I was getting myself into; I guess that's probably standard, though. He seems to be a competent surgeon; at least I've never heard any complaints! Bedside manner is good, too. Overall, Dr Brader is friendly, yet very professional. I'd certainly recommend him and his program to anyone.

Dr. Brader became a jerk and wanted nothing to do with me once I lost my weight. I had health problems about one year after my surgery and since I made my weight goal, he would not help me in answering any questions. He had his office manager call me to tell me "since I am perscribing the tests for you, I can't answer your questions."
I would not recommend him or the surgery! He only cared when my insurance company brought in money to him but that's all!

So its been almost 6 months and I thought I'd recount my experience. Dr. Brader is a no nonsense kind a guy. Just the kind of doctor I wanted for my decision. He gave it to me straight. He stated he could do the insides but this was no magic pill and it was all up to me to the success or failure. I did not need someone to hold my hand and walk me through this.. I needed a skilled, knowledgable surgeon who was going to give it to me straight. I got the best around. DR. Brader, you have been the best at informing me what this surgery could do for me and all the items that come along with it. Thank you.
Well I wasn’t going to say anything but I am discussed by all the positive things people have to say about Dr. Brader. I to thought that Dr Brader was a nice guy till I had surgery. He had very bad bedside manner while I was still in the hospital, very short tempered. From there things only get worse!!! About two weeks after surgery I started to poop and through up blood, of course it had to be a Saturday so I called the emergency line and they patched me through to Dr. Brader. I told him what was going on and he told me not to worry about it. Boy was he wrong I ended up collapsing and having to call and ambulance. I then was stuck in the E.R. for 6 hours because the ER Doctor couldn’t get a hold of Dr. Bader. And Because of his neglect I almost had a scope put down my throat which would have messed up my unhealed stomach. Finally the next day late after noon Dr. Brader finally showed up, Pretty much yells at me. He told me that I was his second worst patient he has ever had ( compared to some lady that eat to much chicken and exploded her stomach and died) . He also told me that he turned off his phone on purpose because he didn’t want to be bothered (Knowing I was bleeding). After that he has never been supportive he doesn’t answer my questions. My most recent issue has been me not being able to eat after have a cold. I had a Upper GI done and which was fine and when I went to see Dr Brader he didn’t let me speak and keep telling me that it is because I wasn’t eating right and over eating. I tried to tell him that wasn’t the case. But he just wasn’t trying to hear anything I had to say. I really don’t want to have to go back to see him, Its just a shame that no other Bypass Dr will see me. I have called all the surrounding cities (Hershey , Harrisburg, and Reading) and I was denied by all. I just can’t believe my health my suffer now. I know I’m just one Person I just hope that others may speak up, if this is happening to you. I would no way shape or form, would I want anyone else to go through what I am going through now with Dr. Brader. Even though I am only one person you could be the next. so just think twice about it! The Office staff is awesome though!!

When I first met Dr. Brader at an info session, he had a great bedside manner....which is rare with surgeons. He was very easy to speak with and candidly answered all the questions I asked at the initial consultation. The office staff is very helpful and I have nothing but great things to say about them. They've been instrumental is helping me along this journey.
