In February of 2005 I started this journey with a surgeon whose office was fairly close to my home. It seemed to take forever to get in to see him for his seminar. In fact, every appointment I was given was a month or two later. I received insurance approval within a week or two, yet getting in to see the doctor was a terrible wait. I received a surgery date for mid September and was just 5 days short of that date when the surgeon's office called to postpone my surgery indefinately...the doctor was leaving for New Orleans to help the Katrina victims. While, I'll admit, that is an admirable task, I did not see it that way at the time. I felt abandoned! In tears I phoned a friend, whose WLS was a few years prior, and she gave me Dr. Roe's number. I immediately called his office and was seen the very next day! In fact, my surgery was within 2-3 weeks!!! rnDr. Roe and his staff are wonderful! I have always been treated very well by the entire staff and have been given all the time needed to answer my questions or address any concerns. rnI could not ask for better aftercare. There are times when I get in to see Dr. Roe 20-30 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. When that happens, I think of how awesome he is to take the extra time needed with every one of his patients to help them in every way he can! Our support group meetings are informative and so helpful that I look forward to them every month.rnrnI believe that surgical competence is much more important than bedside manner however, I've found both with Dr. Roe!

I am a nurse and was 55 when I began this WLS journey. I asked lots of questions interviewing several doctors and attending 4 different orientations. I had previous abd surgery was diabetic and hypertensive. The other surgeons acted like this was a huge concern and stressed maybe having to do this \"open\". I did not like their projections of probably being under anesthesia for hours. I was well aware of what could go wrong and wanted to plan for success. Dr. Roe respected my need to understand and addressed my concerns.rnDr. Roe does the surgery open straight away. He was able to open my previous incision about 2 inches and do the procedure through it, just 1 opening. I was under anesthesia less than 1 hour. I had no problems with my lungs like I might have with longer anesthesia. No infection, no complications, I healed quickly.rnI never had nausea or vomting, never had any post surgical problems.rnDr. Roe was very realistic and insisted my husband be present before the surgery for clarity of what this meant to both of us. I appreciated that as did my husband who is totally supportive. rnI was back to work with no problems in 2 weeks. I am no longer considered diabetic or hypertensive, off meds soon after surgery.rnDr. Roe had the best follow up program. I was seen monthly for 18 months and now every other but will be followed for 5 years. Dr. Roe has been consistently encouraging and positive. rnI have friends who chose other surgeons because they didn't want \"open\" surgery and they have not been so blessed. Their multiple openings gave more discomfort and their doctors have been less supportive. I am grateful at nearly 2 years post that I chose Dr. Roe.rnThe staff is very helpful, caring and supportive.

I had my surgery on June 6,2006. I found and still am finding the office support staff to be very helpful and understanding. Dr. Roe is a very caring and good doctor. I also find him to be a good listtener and very helpful. He is also honest and upfront and is willing to answer all and any questions.

My first impression of Dr. Roe was that he was not the typical doctor. My first impression has been completely correct. He is one of the most caring and understanding doctors I have ever come across. He does not sugar coat anything and will be straight forward in answering any question no matter how silly it may seem. Anyone would be lucky to have the skilled hands of Dr. Roe perform their surgery. As far as bedside manner, each day you are in the hospital he makes sure to come and check on you to make sure all is well.

Well Dr. Roe is the best Doctor that I ever came across. When I first talked to him he was REAL. He did not beat around no corners with nothing. He made me feel like I was a size 18 already. But there is a saying that he all ways say. It is a tool and it only work when you USE IT THE WAY IT IS SOPOUSE TO BE USED. Well for the record if you are looking for a doctor that is real not just looking for a patient to get paid, well Dr. Roe is the man. He made sure the you get the best care in the hospital. He made me and my husband aware of all pro and cons. The rate that I give Dr. Roe is 100%+++++. Finally I could not talk about Dr. Roe and not thank his staff for all of there HARD work dealing with me and all of my phone calls and all of there time...

I first was referred to Doctor Roe by a close friend/ co-worker. During one of our chats I mentioned to my friend, that I'd been considering the surgery for sometime and she just happened to have been doing research on doctors who do the Gastric By-pass, for herself. Anyhow, we exchanged numbers and I made my appointment. Dr. Roe presented an excellent power point presentation to a group of us, answered any and all questions, held nothing back in describing the pros and cons of this surgery, as well as the 1% death rate, due to complications. I finally went back for my second appointment, with my paperwork in hand. After another upfront and blunt (no B***S) meeting, I've been accepted by Dr. Roe, to get the surgery. At this point, his office his battling my Insurance Company-Aetna and I'm waiting to hear from his office, that the surgery has been authorized and I'm on my way......

Dr. Roe and his staff are wonderful....After doctor office after doctor office making me feel like crap for being overweight, Dr. Roe's office made me feel accepted. Neither him nor his office staff hold anything back, they tell you as it is. I will be his biggest walking advertisement.....

Dr. Roe is a superior surgeon, a wonderful communicator, accessible, has a real sense of humor, candid, honest and well grounded. If you want to hear the real deal, talk to Dr. Roe. I will remain forever greatful for the flawless artistry he performed in my abdomen.

My First Impression of Dr. Roe was that he was very professional, thorough and down-to-earth. I was most impressed by the fact that after his Power Point presentation he walked around the room allowing anyone attending the presentation the opportunity to ask questions or just talk to him. I was given all the time I needed to ask all the questions I had. His staff is EXCEPTIONAL! Dawn, his program manager is the best! She made me feel very comfortable talking to her and took care of all my insurance needs including getting my surgery approved in one week!

They are the best and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone.
