Western Bariatric, AMC Bariatric Center
Dr. Krahn is one of the best Drs. I've been to. He's funny and sarcastic which made me feel totally comfortable. He's very thorough and takes his time explaining things to you. He was consistant throughout my entire experience. His office staff is great. They make you feel comfortable as well. Dr. Krahn and his staff addressed every issue that I had and brought up things that I hadn't thought of. They make sure that you have as much information as possible and are very well informed and educated of the risks, the procedure and aftercare. I love Dr. Krahn and I would recommend him to anyone. Actually I already have. The only thing I would change is the time the support groups are held. They're at 5:30. I can't make it by 5:30 and I'm unable to go to his support groups.
I thought he was wonderful, he took time with me to answer any of my questions or concerns.
It has only gotten stonger.
Without questions, they are the best. The actual care and are genuinely concerned about your well being.
The fact that he is as booked as he is, which is a good tihing for him and bad thing for those of wanting surgery.
Go in prepared to talk, he wants to know that you understand what you are getting into.
It is probably more important to them then the surgery itself. They are very through.
Yes!!!!
Besides the the charts they discuss with you one on one the risks of surgery and the risks of not following the aftercare instructions.
I would give them an 11 out of 10!!
Both are superb!!
He is very nice and very professional. Besides being nice, he is very strict. His staff is extremely helpful in all areas. If you are going to go with Krahn, be prepared to keep on a strict protein diet for the first year. His office has an excellent aftercare program.
If I had it to do all over again I would choose Dr. Krahn. He takes good care of his patients. The staff at St. Bernadines where he does the surgery is A1. They take great care of you post-op.
As a new post-op, I am very happy with Dr. Krahn. While my first impression wasn't the greatest, the longer I have been a patient, the happier I have become. I found his staff very helpful and responsive. I was given plenty of information and education about what to expect. His aftercare has been good and I do not feel rushed when I am in his office.
Dr. Krahn is really a wonderful Doctor. He is straight to the point, but warm and has a sense of humor. His office is ran with efficiency, and without their guidance, I doubt if I would be considering this option to have surgery. They have proivde the much needed education of the procedure, seminars, nutrition classes, and personal support patients considering this life changing procedure need to be sucessful. I have every confidence in Dr. Krahn and his staff, even though the this process takes months to accomplish, they have always been readily able to answer questions or walk you through the waiting period by phone or email.
This was the second surgeon I was referred to because of contract changes with my insurance company, so I have been through two intake procedures. The first was a large well known medical center...OK people, I'm certain they are competent, but very cold/impersonal. Even though the change in surgical group delayed the surgury for months, I am very happy I waited. Dr.Krahn and his staff take time to meet the patients and get to know them. They spent a lot of time with me and I have called their office and been a real pest when it came to getting the paperwork/testing in order and they have been very gracious and always helpful. They seem to be very thorough in the evaluation of the need for surgery, and have been able to ease my anxiety when going through the approval process. Dr.Krahn was definitely worth the wait...he acts like a human. Many doctors don't. So far so good...I haven't had my surgery yet but have met a few of his patients and they all seem very happy.
Dr Krahn is a very nice and thorough in is practice. I was scheduled to go through Cedar-Sinai and my insurance changed the doctor at the last minute before approval for surgery. Dr Krahn made me feel very comfortable about the change. The office staff is very nice and very informitive. The office cater's to large people, which is nice, big couches and chairs with no arms. I went to two seminars at his location - 1) on the procedure and about obesity and then when I was approved for surgery, I went to a 4 hour seminar for information on diet, excercise, hospital visit, about a 1 1/2 inch book.(very informitive. That's all I have for know.
My first impression of Doctor Krahn was that he was warm, gentle and kind to overweight people. I felt like he was speaking from experience and had a true repect and understanding of the problem. I found his office staff to be just as exceptional as he is. They were there with a smile, a warm greeting and made you feel like belonged, like as if you were at home. The office is the first office I have ever been into that accomidates over weight people. The chairs are oversized so you can sit in them easly without your sides sticking out. There is large soft couches so you can sit with ease. I just started with Dr.Krahn but so far my journey has been a positive note. I have not found anything that I could list as a dislike, other than the office and hospital is very far away. It took me over an hour to get to the facility. I know he really wants you to be invloved before and after in programs. I think that is best. He did describe the risks invloved with me and asked if I felt I could deal with them.
