Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Associates Bariatric Center
I liked Dr. Boone the first time I met him - he was nice, but very up front about my weight and the pros AND cons of surgery. I've only met with him twice, and he's been honest with me throughout the process. The office staff has always been courteous, but I'm sure they got tired of me always calling to check on my insurance status!
Dr. Boone was very informative and thorough.
Seems very knowledgeable, His office was very friendly and didn't make you feel like just \"another\" $$ sign.
I liked him from the begining. He has a relaxed conversational confident quality. My impression stayed the same over time. His office staff is very busy, it was hard to get scheduled in the begining, but as I proceded, more of their attention was paid to me and they were very professional. Dr Higa has both surgical competence and a good bedside manner. I think both are important. All the risks of surgery were well addressed. I even had to take a written quiz before surgery. Aftercare may be slightly lacking, but only because I don't really need any at this time. I have my regular appointments and they encourage joining a support group-I've joined 2, plus this website :-)rnrnI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Higa or the RNY procedure I had. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Dr. Boone was very professional with a great bedside manner. He was very easy to work with and answered all my questions. If I asked the same questions over again, he answered them again in a reassuring way. He was very straightforward about everything. Although I wanted to leave the hospital early, he kept me until the afternoon. He was not willing to release me early just because I wanted to leave. My health was his concern. One area of improvement, after care. Meeting with the doctor, getting a couple of handouts, getting weighed and I was out the door. I am not sure what I was expecting but thought after leaving, is this all?Overall, I would recommend Dr. Boone to anyone who has made the decision to have gastric bypass surgery.
From the first time I met Dr. Boone I loved his sense of humor. He is also a very kind and compassionate person. Its not like I hang out with him and play golf, but I like this guy. Also he does not pull punches, he will tell you like it is. I have only been to his office once so far and for the most part the staff has been very pleasant. Christine in the office did a great job working with me to get my approval. I'm sure she loved all my phone calls to. In my opinion you will not find a better surgeon in the central valley of fresburg than Dr. Boone or Dr. Higa. These two are a dynamic duo.rn
Dr. Higa was great. Pre-ops were a breeze & surgery was about 3 hrs long. We were expected to get up just a few hours after surgery. I tried but it took me until the day after surgery to get up. The night after surgery after they removed my cathater I ended up getting up every hour or so to pee:) rnToo, much IV fluid. I ended up walking about 10 or more laps today & they gave us yucky broth, jello, juice, herb tea & a frozen lemon or strawberry ice. Dr. Higa wasn't there to check me out but one of the other doctors in his office did. I wanted to have my post-op check in Mt. Shasta. Too far to drive for one 20 min apppt. It is next Thursday. Will get my jp tube re-moved then.rnI deleted all of my previous information about my first surgeon & my journey with him. ((((Dr. Cooper in Chico, CA did my original Open RNY 5/31/00. In June of 04 I was found to have a 1cm staple-line disruption. When I contacted Dr. Coopers office I was told that the Doctor no longer took UHC, did not do Lap Surgeries & did not do revisions. My general surgeon who found the disruption w/ an upper GI referred me down to Fresno. CA to Dr. Higa. I went for a consult 9/04 & he felt that at that time. I didn't need to do anything. I was in a size 6. Well, 2 years later I had an endoscopy & they found that the disruption has enlarged to 2cm & I had gained 24.5 lbs. I again went to Dr. Higa & am waiting for everything to be submitted to insurance w/ a tentative surgery date sometime 11/06. I will post my progress w/ this process.))))10/04/06rnrn
