Dr. Alverdy and his staff have been great. I am looking forward to proceeding with my surgery.

Very professional, thorough and straight-forward.

So far it hasn't.

Overall, they are okay, but are not very quick on letting you know after each visit what is next.

Moving to quickly.

He is a well-known good surgeon.

He emphasize aftercare very much !!!!!

Yes, and a support group too

He is very honest, black & White, about the pros and cons.

So far 7 for good.

Both are ESSENTIAL !!!!! and IMPORTANT!!!!

Dr. Alverdy was nice and caring.
My impression of him grew better and better as time went by. He is very compassionate and caring.
His staff is ok. Kim Nevens is the best but she is not there anymore.
There is nothing I did not like about him.
I think future patients should know that he is a pro at what he does and he is the best.
Aftercare is very important and they take really good care of you each and every time your are seen.
Dr. Alverdy did explains the risks of the surgery and it was a chance that I was willing to take - well worth it.
I would rate him at 110%
Surgical competence and bedside manner are both great. He came in to see me everyday while I was there and answered any and all questions and concerns right away. He is an excellent surgeon and I hope more people go to him. I really believe he is the best out there. Make an appt. w/him once and you will never look for another surgeon again.

11/14/2004 First Impressions are very important to me and Dr Alverdy won me over on my first consult.I had done a great deal of research prior to my first consult and he anwsered all of my questions.Since i had done so much research that i knew a lot about the surgery.I knew the risks that i would be taking having the surgery.I found out the advantages and disadvantages.I also researched the after effect of how important it is to take the vitamins and how important it is to get your proteins in.for anyone thinking about wls in the chicago area Dr Alverdy is the best as far as going over the procedures, anwsering all your questions. And his bedside manner was very professional. Many people think that you cant possibly have all good things to say about a doctor.Well I dont work for him, I am only a patient and I personally think he's the greatest, and untill he gives me a reason to think otherwise I have no complaints.

Consultation is on Dec 10th...havent met him yet but want him for my surgeon. New consult date - Feb 18th 2004. New New consult date - June 2004. Dr. Alverdy is a caring man with a great bedside manner. He totally put me at ease and calmed any fears I had about the prodecure. He knew instantly that I would be a DS patient without any question...That is what I liked best =) I wasnt steered towards the RNY automatically saying that it was the best as other surgeons do. His office staff, like most doctors offices, are a bit confused about paperwork and what your status is. I had to constantly call and leave messages, but they did get back to me rather well after I found the right person to talk with. Overall I would say he is definately the surgeon I want to do my DS.

The first impression that I had of DR. Alverdy was that he had a very good bedside manner. Throughout my dealings with him I have had these same feelings. His office staff is very busy but they are willing to give you the attention that you deserve. He is very blunt about the risks/benefits that this surgery could have on your life. The aftercare program is very structured for those who allow for it. No one will be picking you up and making you attend these meetings and appointments they are for you so it is your business to make yourself available to be helped. I rate him as a skilled individual who is very knowledgeable about his field of work. Both his bedside manner and his surgical competence are great, I would reccommend him to anyone.

Very personable and concerned. This remained my impression. Staff very well trained. Very busy - hard to get appointments. He is dedicated. He does have an after care program in place that was quite adequate. He does explain some of the complications both emotional and physical. Well I never saw him post-op he had attendings that cared for me - which was fine. I had a great deal of confidence in his ability.

In the beginning, Dr Alverdy was absolutely wonderful. I am thankful with every pound that I lose, however I havent had much follow up. He was called away for an emergency at my post op appointments. The staff in his office are all very warm caring people. Especially his nurse Kim. She helped me thru some very rough times. I had went thru some severe abdominal cramps and I called Kim prior to going to the ER. She helped me alot and reassured me that after 8 months post op, she was sure there had been no leaks or tears. Which was my initial thought. I wasnt able to make it to Chicago, for any "aftercare" and honestly I havent had any follow up. All in all, I am thankful that I had the surgery and feel as though I am a success story.
