My impression of Dr. Cohen was he was very nice but I was nervous about meeting him. I found him very informative and trust him...he did explain all the details/risks of surgery. I am scheduled to have the surgery on july 16 so I will update this when I am home. I found his staff to be wonderful to talk to and to get back with me.

Dr. Philip Cohen UMASS Memorial Medical Center Worcester, MA. He was professional and knowledgable, but also had a fabulous bedside manner and a GREAT sense of humor! He made me feel comfortable about the procedure...explaining everything in detail, and answering all my questions. His office staff was super in getting back to me with any issues I had. I would have NO problem recommending Dr. Cohen to anyone considering bariatric surgery...an all-around SUPERB experience!

First Impression?.....Young but very competant. I have seen him a number of times do some issues I have had, My Surgeon is pretty patient and Very Informative. I'm not Quite sure about his bedside manner though. He's just so to the point....no extra chit chat or anything.. That's ok with me, I'd be a bit concerned if it was the other way around! I feel safe being in his care. This journey has been pretty frustrating but Dr. Perugini is so informative and like I said, patient, I think he's a good fit. The only negative thing i can think of is his lack of humor... Ah, what am I saying..... as long as he knows what he's doing... what does it matter!

Dr. Kelly was great, he attended the pre-surgery meetings and stayed after to answer any questions and made me feel at ease with it. After the surgery he was so kind and helpful. Even after I got home and had questions and concerns he returned my calls, I cant say anything bad about him!

My first impression of him was: friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate, attentive, understanding, and gentle.rnrnMy first impression of his was correct and has only grown stronger in my beliefs that he is and encompasses all these attributes and then some.rnrnHis office staff is as I expected they would be... very much like their leader and leaders. There are several physicians in the Weight Center and my experience with all the medical professionals at the office have been excellent. Everyone is friendly and very professional there.rnrnI was sad that I did not get to see him when I went in to have my staples out. I got to see his Nurse Practitioner who took out my staples and she is wonderful but, it would have been nice to see him just for a couple of minutes. I hope that I get to actually see him when I go in for my 6 week check up and my 6 month check up.rnrnHis experience in WLS is enormous and VERY successful! Listen to everything he says AND his staff. The entire group of professionals all work together as a well oiled \"machine\" of sorts in that they meet together frequently and always have the patient's best interest in everything they do. As a leader in the field he is not puffed up or full of himself. He is very humble and kind. He is trustworthy and honest. He is very helpful and when I was post op I had to call him with a question. He called me back and even though I could hear things were busy behind him, he was completely focused on our conversation and was not in any hurry to get off the phone. I felt I had his full attention as well by the answers he was giving me and he made sure that I didn't have any other questions before we were done. He also invited me to call him again if I had any other questions. I was so please and felt so glad when we were done talking.rnrnThe emphasis on aftercare is thoroughout the entire program, and not just from him. Through the four classes that we attend as participants in the program as well as at the introductory meetings and nutrition visits. Aftercare program is very structured and is extrememly important and they have developed a highly successful program that when followed as described, and taught to you, increases your odds of success exponentionally.rnrnHis nurse practitioner spent close to an hour with me and my family explaining the surgery and all that is included in the preparation, and procedure. She went over a booklet and pictures to reinforce what exactly is done. She explained to me and my family all the risks and answered all of our questions. She also had me read and sign the patient contract. This is AWESOME and I think it is a great step in committment to your health. Then Dr. Kelly came in and over 15 minutes or so re-emphasized the importance of understanding the risks involved and asked if we had any further questions and we asked a few. He was completely relaxed and focused on us... he was not looking to the door and making us feel like he was anxious to move on.rnrnI would rate Dr. Kelly with an A++ He is 100% interested in the patient and each person having a 100% successful outcome and ultimately a healthy life. And not for his numbers but for your sake.rnrnI would say that Dr. Kelly's surgical competence and his bedside manner and both great! I am so glad that I waited to have him perform the surgery! He is the best!rnrn

The UMASS program has a wonderful after surgery support program which was the most important thing to me.rnThe presurgical information was exactly what I needed. Honest, no false promises, and focused on what the patient puts in, is what the patient gets out. There is no miracle cure.rnDr. Kelly has phenominal bedside manner, so it is difficult for the other doctors in the program to compare. I've had professional, curteous and thorough care from Dr. Perugini.

It's been 5 years since I started with Dr Kelly. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and Robin Mason. Their understanding and compassion regarding their patients and the issues surrounding weight are wonderful. rnWhen I was having problems with my band, I was too scared to contact them because I thought it was my fault (AGAIN) that I was gaining weight. It was 3 years after my surgery and they contacted me because they hadn't heard from me. That followthru and support is unsurpassed.rnThe only negative I have is when I've had to meet with a different doctor due to their schedule. I haven't been satisfied with anyone except Dr Kelly or Robin Mason.

Dr. Kelly is an GREAT surgeon and just plain \"nice guy.\" Very personable and willing to take as much time as necessary to answer all and any questions. I had an overall EXCEPTIONAL experience at UMASS memorial...very attentive staff all around. I give Dr. Kelly 5 STARS out of 5.
