The Center for Obesity Surgery and Treatment Bariatric Center
First impression: He's cute. Honestly, he was very compassionate and kind. He was to the point and explained everything. I liked him at consultation in 10/01. Post-op, I still think he is gorgeous (not that THAT is important just a plus). He is a great surgeon. He is a great listener and everything he said would happen, happened. His staff is good. No complaints really. Nobody is perfect but so far he and his staff have been supportive. He is BIG on aftercare and they walk you step by step through your diet afterward. Surgical competence and bedside manner are both well above average. On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being best, I would give Dr. Sarantos a 9, his staff a 7 or 8. They aren't the cheeriest women in the world and I haven't heard from the dietician yet (1 week 2 days post-op), but the RN has called.
I absolutely was thrilled with Dr. Sarantos. I met with him today for my consultation and he was superb. He was so super friendly and very informative. He presented the pros and cons with hope and yet reality. He gave all the details of the surgery from start to finish. He gave the risks and the advantages and made sure that I and my husband understood everything so that there would be no surprises. I also met with the surgical coordinator and the nutritionist. They both were great. I believe that his skill level and his bedside manner were great. I would recommend him to anyone!
I met Dr. Peter Sarantos on March 19 2002. He was pleasant and explained everything, met with their staff, talked with the dietian, insurance personal, and had all my questions answered. I felt comfortable with Dr. Sarantos. He informed me, I needed the surgery, and I would be a good candidate for surgery. He explained about the 18 months of follow up and then after that my HMO doctor would take over my labs, ect. Unless I needed his care, then he would be there. He has a wonderful bedside manner, and I believe in him. I really felt comfortable talking with him. They handled all the insurance forms there at the office. Assisted me in my psych eval, finding a doctor. I was lucky, got an appt. the same day as my eval with Dr. Sarantos. Everything went throught fast, I'm excited and scared.
Dr Sarntos is so organize and has get bed side manners. He explains everything that going to take place from the day of the office visit to the day you get approved from the insurance company to the surgery pre-screen to the surgery date and he tells you the worse that can happen in surgery so you can be aware what can and can'nt happen during surgery. Also everything located in the doctor office the dietition and nurse, so you talk to the doctor, and he tells you if you are a person for this surgery and next you see the nurse and tells you it takes about 8 to seven weeks to hear for the insurance company. But Dr Sarantos office was great and quick about sending the doctor notes out to the insurances company and was approved in 6 weeks very quick and the nurse made my surgery date that day and pre scrren thas date. They are great and i'll glad i went with Dr Sarantos. Because i went to a different doctor before Dr Sarantos and i glad i pick Dr. Sarantos to do the Surgery. thanks-tyler and i'll write back after he does me surgery

His aftercare is very thorough.
Yes he does have a structured aftercare program.
He gave us the % rate of deaths which was only 1%.
I rate him the highest mark he could get.
Both surgical competence and bedside manner were great!!!!!!
All of my remarks said here come from the heart. There were no bad experiences with him or his staff.
