The Center for Obesity Surgery and Treatment Bariatric Center
My first impression of Dr. Sarantos was that he is a man that takes the time to get to know his patients, and that he does what he thinks is best for each individual patient. I believe he is a wonderful man. He put my family's worries about WLS at ease when they had the chance to meet with him also. The office staff tho was less than desirable. His Office Manager that is responsible for filing the paper work to insurance companies for approval tends to drop the ball, and if you don't stay on her, then you never know if you have been accepted or denied. Dr. Sarantos has a very detailed after care program that lasts for approximately 18 months, depending on how soon they get you in for appointments post-op. There is a contract you must sign at the initial consultation that states that you agree to his terms of follow up, and he makes you repeat those to him. He was very thorough in his explanations of the benefits and the risks of WLS, and his statistics of patients that have done well to those that havent. He definitely is a man that I would recommend for anybody in North Central Florida considering WLS. His competency and bedside manner are great.
My first impression of Dr. Sarantos was that he was very professional. He came across as knowing the business he does very well. Bariatric Surgery is very complex and he explained it to me in a way that was very understandable. Upon my first visit which was 01/06/04, the entire staff made you feel like they were only there to help you. Dr. Sarantos will answer any question you have, no matter how stupid it may sound when it comes out. Dr. Sarantos is very subtle in the way he explains about the post-op surgery, but the emphasis is there and you know what he means (business). Dr. Sarantos explains that the post-op process is as important as the pre-op testings. Dr. Sarantos tells of all the complications that may occur during or after surgery and seems to have a grip on all of the ways of avoiding or handling each situation as it arises. Dr. Sarantos is a very professional physician and seems very capable of handling MY gastic by-pass surgery. Will update as my appointments progress.
My first impression of Dr. Sarrantos was that he was very knowledgeable, caring and easy to talk to. That has not changed throughout this procedure and followup. His staff is professional and caring, and take the time to talk and explain everything. I have had NO problems with the doctor or his staff. Aftercare is very important, with an 18-month followup program. He explained all the risks of surgery to me and my family, in words we could easily understand. Overall, he is the best! His surgical competence, bedside manner and caring attitude are all the best.
My first impression of Dr. Sarantos umm...I'm sure was the same as any other woman lucky enough to have him for their surgeon. He is one of the most handsome men I have ever seen. Usually this would make me a tongue-tied idiot. But he immediately comes across as warm and open. I felt completely at ease as he explained the surgery, risks and advantages. I'm a normal lay person and he explained everything where
I could understand it. REALLY UNDERSTAND IT!
The office staff, not just one or two but ALL, were courteous, tactful and very eager to help you in what-ever you needed. One thing, "YOU GUYS MOVE OUT OF THAT OFFICE WITH SUCH A SMALL WAITING ROOM." HOW ABOUT IT?? SHIRLEY VAUGHN deserves a MEDAL!! I'm sure other folks bugged the daylights out of her and not just me. (LOL) Shirley I love you for all the help and support you've shown me with the insurance requirements. Your the BEST!!!
In my book, Dr. Sarantos and his entire staff are wonderful. I would highly recommed him and his staff for WLS. There is a highly structured aftercare program and that's one of the main reasons I chose this office.
Overall, I rate Dr. Sarantos AAAAA++++
His surgical competence, and bedside manner are truly remarkable!!!!
**I traveled alot further than necessary to have this surgeon complete the surgery. It was well worth it.**
Dr Sarantos was great from begining to end and as I continue on my journy he has been so great and his staff is wonderful. Would I do it again? OH YES!! and I wouldn't do anything differently. He has a great bed side manor. He does emphasize aftercare and he has an aftercare program. He answered all my questions so that I would under stand them and had no problem re-explaining them if I didn't. I would recomend Dr Sarantos to anyone.
What surprises me is the fact that he did explain the necessities to my bf and I. Rather quickly! It was as if we were on an assembly line. The nutritionist is one of those 95 lb. women who has that look on her face (you know the one that incredulous look of "how did you ever get to this point?") The nurse was and is wonderful, thre coordinator is great with her (Needless)presentation. I've had several phone conversations with the insurance coordinator (Shirley) and she is extremely helpful. All in all, I feel they've done their jobs so well that they are starting to treat people like numbers instead of individuals. This website has answered more questions than they have at the surgeon's office. So AMOS. Cheers to YOU!
I have only seen Dr. Sarantos one time so far. My first impression was that he knew the surgery well, that he was very compassionate, he listens to your concerns and educates you so that you understand the total process. I feel very comfortable and I believe that he will do a great job.
He was straight to the point with the risks of the surgery, but very confident that if I followed his directions, everything should go without complications. Dr. Sarantos has an 18 month program that I feel is esential in the changing of my life.

I meet Dr Sarantos, He seened kind & compasionate. He didnt rush me & he took the time to answer any questions i had. The whole office seems great. On my first appointment i spoke to the Doctor & the Nutrisonalist in his office. The last step befor i left was to speak to his assistant/billings clerk. I left my first appointmnet energized & with hope
I've met with Dr. Sarantos twice. He is very concerned that you understand every aspect of the surgery and that your willing to make the life changes that will make both you (the patient) and him (the surgeon) sucessful. I felt very comfortable with him and felt that his staff and dietician had a great game plan to help their patients. They have an 18 months follow up plan with the dietician to make sure your mind and body try to go hand and hand. I know I will have great success in his hands.
