all i can say is wow. he is caring, underdtanding, patient. he shows a real interest in you as a person with real needs and emotions. he has a pa working with him the is just as great. i was a very lucky person to have him as my doctor. my first impression of him was amazement. he talked to us at a meeting in length about the surgery. never getting tired of questions. his staff was wonderful. asking questions was never a problem. calling and taking to his nurse was a big help. the after care i received from his office was perfect. the doctors office offered all sort of classes from buying to cook the proper diet. also a fully equiped gym was at my disposal 11 hour aday. all the risks of surgery were gone over in lenght. everything was done well and more. i have no complants.

I have the opportunity to meet privately with Dr. Caruana to discuss the surgery. He seems like a very nice and caring person.
I was most impressed with is office and the staff. Very friendly to the patients and very comfortable for us who may not be so comfortable at other doctors' offices. The staff also makes you feel so comfortable. I do plan to tak advantage of his exercise room a well. I am very happy I have chosen Dr. Caruana to perform my surgery. I had an employee who had the surgery and has done very well. I most say I am very nervous about the surgery but know this is my last hope to be able to prolong my life and live happily and healthy.

I am most impressed with Dr. Caruana and his staff. I was most impressed after my first visit to his office. They make you feel so comfortable, right to the size of the chairs.
Dr. Caruana is a very caring man and I am very comfortable with him performing my surgery. I have to admit I am scared but I am sure I am going through with it.

dr caruana seems like a wonderful man. he was totally caring and considerate. his office staff is top notch. they seem very well organized and take alot of time to answer questions and make sure you are comfortable. he will not do the surgery if you are a smoker so quit before you talk to him. he is very much into aftercare. that is why he no longer works with independent health because they werent willing to pay for the follow up exams that he requires. his office is beautiful with a full gym and nutrician center. dr. caruana and his pa marc run the excercise classes. dr caruanas surgical statistics are excellant and he seems to have a great bedside manner so far. i havnt had my surgery yet so i cant give him an overall rating but so far so good.

I havn't met Dr.C yet but i've heard alot about him and his staff.Ihave 22 days until i go to the informational meeting also i already made my appt for the psych evaluation. which puts me alittle ahead of the game. i go to my evaluation on the 11th of feb. the funn thing about this is i have waited along time for this surgury and now that I'm just about here I'm starting to get nervous. about the surgury and about the insurance comp. although i was athorized to go and informed that medical nessesity has been established. i still just dont want anything to go wrong. Please pray for me. I want to live.nicol

I found Dr.Caruana very friendly.He answered my husbands questions,and put him at ease a bit,as he is scared for me having this surgery.Dr Caruanas staff were very pleasant to deal with.I called a few times on the phone,and my calls were handeled efficiently.He has a new Gym on his office premises,for his patients to use.

Once you get to know Dr. Caruana, you will find him very personalble. He is very encouraging and helpful. He is very strong about aftercare. He has moved into his new office, complete with gym and physical fitness equipment.
He carefully goes through the surgery and states what risks you might encounter. I did have some complications, following surgery, and Dr. Caruana was right there, monitoring my care and following it up with office visits.

I knew Dr. Caruana before I decided to have surgery. We work at the same hospital. Before he switched his practice to strictly bariatric surgery, he did surgery on my father & brother. I was always impressed by his surgical skill & especially his kindness & compassion with his patients & their families.

For my first consultation I had a full sheet of paper with questions on it from all my research. After he asked me what I knew about the surgery, he said why I don't I tell you about it & then any questions you have I will answer. He was very honest, from the number of surgeries he had done to his complication rate (well below the national avg). He was so thorough that I think I only had one question left to ask him from my whole page of questions. He explained at length the surgical risks & life style changes necessary post-op.

My gratitude & respect for him has only grown since the surgery. He is truly committed to his patients.

His office staff is great! Very helpful, concerned & empathetic. They do whatever it takes to simplify the process.

Marc, his PA is also excellent. His office has a workout center, Synergy, which is top notch.

Looking back, for me personally, I would have preferred to have a more structured post-op diet initially, maybe that comes from a life time of "dieting". There is a lot of information out there regarding nutrition & a lot of it was in conflict with what I learned in my pre-op nutrition classes (Dr. Caruana requires you to attend two nutrition & two exercise classes pre-op.)

All in all, Dr. Caruana & his staff are competent, caring professionals who I would highly recommend.

I attended the required informational meeting before my physical exam with Dr.C. It was very enlightning. After my exam, the Dr sat down with me and my husdband one on one and went over our immediate questions or concerns. I also love Dee Dee at the front desk. So far, so good. (Their brand new ofice is beautiful!)

Went to my informational meeting on Dec 16th. I liked Dr. Caruana from the moment he started to speak. He was very professional and he also put everyone at ease with some of his comments. I was able to get an appt date right away because I had my IH referral before going to the meeting. I have a pschyoligical eval on the 20th of Jan, and then I see Dr. Caruana on the 28th. I count the days. I am very anxious to get this whole thing rolling.
