Surgical Services of Sedalia Bariatric Center
I am really comfortable with Dr. Hornbostel.
He spoke straight forward and answered all my questions. The information in the notebook he gave me was very helpful. His office staff and nurses are very nice and professional. They treated me with respect. I look forward to my surgery and I beleive that I will be in very capable hands.
His staff is the nicest group of folks. Dena Neil is very supportive and has been through the WLS herself.
My first impression of him was that he was exceptionally well informed and presented the information to us in a straight forward and down to earth method. I still feel that way today. His office staff is very knowledgeable and sensitive to our needs, and can answer any questions you have. There really isn't anything that I have found about him that turns me off. He spends minimal amount of time with you, but you are well informed. He is the best at what he does. He informs you right up front that the aftercare is actually more important that the surgery. That the surgery is just a tool to help you discipline and restructure your life. He has regular follow up visits, and has a very strict aftercare program. He does provide you with all of the risks of having the procedure, and tells you how many surgeries he has done, and any problems that he has encountered. He is excellent, his surgical competence is above the best, and his bedside manner is short, sweet and to the point. His competence is the most importance to me, but I do like the fact that he is sensitive to your needs.
I absolutely loved Dr. Hornbostel. I am a nurse and I thought he was the most caring doc I've ever met. Office staff extremely helpful and friendly, they visited me in hospital. He is awesome. Big stickler about MOVING after surgery. Yes, he has a structured aftercare program. Gives a seminar that you HAVE to attend to get into his office. I would rate his care as 10+. I am 4 weeks out and have nothing negative to say at all.
I went to Dr. Hornbostel seminar in March 2005. I had already spoken to his nurse Dena, and we knew that I had the benefit on my insurance so she had told me what I was going to need to be doing before that.. After I attended the meeting she got me an appointment scheduled the next day for 4/6/05. Dr Hornbostle seems very caring and it seems like he encourages people to have the surgery if its going to make them feel better rather than trying to look for excuses to tell them that they dont qualify. Dena has been very supportive and helpfull as far as helping me deal w/my insurance company etc. and Im hoping all this can get straightened out and I can have my surgery by my birthday which is June 17!
My first impression of him was rather positive. He was very clear on letting you know that pros and cons of the surgery.
My impression hasn't changed. He is still a very understanding and compationate surgeon.
His office staff show that they are really concerned about your health. Whenever I had questions, they were there trying to answer whatever they could to help.
Future patients should know that he is very serious when it comes to following directions. Please only go by what he says. Believe me, it will help you.
He emphasized aftercare as being very important because after your surgery your body is trying to heal and it's important to follow his directions.
His aftercare program is in the folder that he gives you before surgery so you can always go back and look at it.
Between 1 and 10, 1 being the lowest and ten being the highest I would give him a 9.
I think surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
Dr. Hornbostel is very professional and very competent. I had total faith in his ability to perform my surgery and do a great job.
I have alot of respect for Dr. Hornbostel and I feel he is very caring and a great surgeon. He was always available and just a phone call away, even now that I am home.
Staff is friendly and concerned, I had many staff-reminding me of my special considerations and very concerned that I have the best recovery I could possibly have.
Aftercare starts being reinforced on your first info seminar and it continues and continues!!!!
You recieve a notebook binder and all you after care info is laid out, just as soon as you have your first offie visit.
Dr. H is very up front and the risks and the possible benefits are written out in your manual and stressed in person by the Dr.
I give Dr. Hornbostel an A plus, surgical skills and aftercare are great. Bedside manner and skill could not be better. Otherwise I would not of had surgery, I would only trust him. I was blessed with good care and a positive experience all and all. I could only hope for the same for others.
he was really helpful and seemed to care.my oponion hasnt changed he was really great during and after.his staff has always been nice and quick to get back to me when i call.as far as after care he has a nice support group but i live about 300 miles from sedalia so i dont get to go i would highly recomend him and the bothwell regoinal hospital.
Felt very comfortable with the Doctor and the staff. Every one has been very helpful and knowledgable, and I feel that he is a good choice in surgeons. After care is important, he stresses the continued use of vitamins and supplements. I think he's a bit conservative on the amount of weight one will lose, but other than that I'm happy with him!
