Dr. Hamn came to me as a highly recommended Surgeon (a friend had hernia surgery with him / found out he does WLS)

He clearly states the facts, discusses risks and rewards. No fluff.

He seems to have an appreciation for well informed, prepared and educated patients.

Seriously folks,if you haven't done some serious research prior to going to his office ,shame on you.

A nine month process from initial request for Orientation to actual surgery date.

Surgery is 9/9/02, I'll be back with updates.

I am very impressed with Dr. Hamm. During the first visit him was very sure that I understood all the good and bad about the surgery. His staff was very very nice. I have a second appointment with him 7-18-02 my first visit was 7-10-02. I will add more after the next visit.

At my first consultation with Dr. Hamn I was very impressed. He was very professional, patient, understanding and direct.

Office staff were very helpful, always very professional.

Dr. Hamn is very patient and gives one the opportunity to discuss concerns, problems, etc. He strongly recommended the aftercare located at Presby-Plano, headed up by a dietician.

Dr. Hamn was very thorough in explaning a risks of surgery.

His surgical competence, bedside manner, were excellent.

This is my personal impression, having had numerous previous surgeries I feel I was very "informed" patient and knew what to expect.

Met with Dr. Hamn for the first time on Wednesday, February 13, 2002. I liked him right away. He is very personable and very straight forward. He is very clear in describing the different surgeries and their pros and cons. He makes sure you understand the possible risks and what to expect after surgery. Karen in his office has gone out of her way to help me and notified me of a last minute cancellation which she said was not their practice to do, but it got me in a month sooner! Karen is no longer with Dr, Hamn, but Gerri is spectacular! Always willing to take your call and answer your questions.

I was really impressed by Dr.Hamn very to the point. Although his office staff did not want to submit my letter due to no Dr supervised diets/failures in the past 5 years, that did not stop Dr. Hamn he submitted anyway. After 3 denial letters my file went to the Texas State Board of Insurance and I have been APPROVED!!I am waiting to hear back from his office for an exact date in APRIL 2002 Thank you Dr. Hamn.

Dr. Hamn is very straight forward. His staff has been very helpful. He does not have much of a follow-up routine, with him but does now have a support group that meets once a month. He leaves it up to your PCP to do most of the follow-up blood work etc. I think Dr. Hamn is an excellent surgeon and I would recommend him. He knows what he is doing and explains things very well the good, bad and the ugly.

Aug.29th 2001 I had my first visit with Dr.Hamm. My first impression of him was great. I feel like he really knows what he is doing and he really cares about his patients. His staff they were wonderful!!!!!
I would refer him to anyone that is considering this surgery. He answered every question that I had and then some that I didnt think to ask.

I was impressed with Dr. Hamn when I first saw him on 7/25/01. He was pleasant but blunt. I haven't had many dealings with his office staff but the ones I had were pleasant and positive. He talked about the risks and they have recently started an aftercare program. So far, I think I like him.

I liked Dr. Hamn but did not care for his office staff. I found the staff (really only one in particular) to be patronizing. I have done a tremendous amount of research into this surgery and into the surgeon, and his level of competency is most important to me as I am a critical care RN. The care by his office nurse is extremely impersonal and lacking in willingness to help in regards to insurance.
According to Dr. Hamn, he now has an aftercare program which is run by a registered dietician. I do not yet know about the details of it. He was very upfront regarding the potential risks involved. I appreciated his detailed analysis of the different approaches from a clinical standpoint.
10/20/01-- Dr. Hamn was great in the hospital. Rather than waiting to order meds for potential side effects he already had meds ordered in the anticipation of having side effects therefore I did not have to wait to get meds if I needed them. As I am a critical care nurse I tend to be critical of other nurses in care delivery as I do expect appropriate care. The nursing staff at Presby Plano deserve 5 stars each. They go above and beyond.
