Dr. Hamn was very kind, considerate and took his time to answer all my questions.
His office staff is not very friendly and sometimes very short or curt on the phone.
He does not have a structured after-care program. These statements are entirely my personal experience and may not reflect the experience of others.

He is very personable, humble and honest about the different types of surgeries and their risks.

The office staff was friendly and knowledgeable.

If you don't like straight talk, don't go to him, and that he preforms all surgeries, but prefers the lap band because: 1.He feels that its less stress and risk for the patient;and 2.It forces the patient to take responsibilty in changing their eating habits.

I liked him. He made me feel safe and comfortable with the surgery that I chose.

He spoke about the Pros and Cons of the 3 surgeries.

Dr. Hamn is a very good surgeon. He always is honest and straight with you about your health situation and what he thinks you should do to make the surgery successful, and I appreciated that. Also, he is not a "hand holding" type of surgeon and for me that was what I wanted. I wanted someone to be up front with me about what I needed to do to have a healthy life. He doesn't have too much of an aftercare program, and that's probably the only thing I would have an issue with. I would recommend Dr. Hamn to anyone.

After reading review about Dr. Hamn, I was concerned if he was the "right" one for me. However, after meeting and talking to him, he is Great!! He covered all 3 of the surgeries he performs completely, citing mortality rates. When I spoke with him privately, he was very patient and answered all of my questions. He seemed to always have a smile and was great to talk with. I am very happy Dr. Hamn will be my surgeon.

Dr. Hamn is a typical surgeon, and I don't think he would mind me saying so. He is precise, thorough and yet takes the time for your questions. My nature is to process my questions (between me and me), sit down and cover my concerns and move on. Once I have checked the issues off of my list, I move on. This seemed to work great with Dr. Hamn. I guess my opinion is 1) He is knowledgeable and an expert surgeon 2) I heard him state to another potential patient that he would not do a gastric bypass on her because there are now alternatives that are more safe with the potential of the same end result. I truly respect the fact that Dr. Hamn believes in what he is doing because it's a medical necessity to persons with a health issue....you don't see this in a lot of doctors, and I respect that he would turn down business for the sake of safety and the good health of his patients. This is the kind of surgeon that you want as your advocate, as your medical advisor and as the person that you trust your life and body too. I have never looked back after my first visit with him on Jan 14, 2004.

My first impression of Dr. Hamn was very positive. He seems to have the "good ol' boy" type attitude and very knowledgeable. Very straight forward and clear. I've only met him the one time and am scheduled for surgery at this point. I will add more once I have more experience with him. I will say that I have a friend that just had her surgery this past Monday and she, as well as her family, have really been impressed with him and his care.

My first impression with Dr. Hamn was very positive. He focused on what I had to say and was very encouraging about how I would benefit from the Lap-Band.

The office staff is very nice, quick to respond and supportive. Future patients should know that although you may not get a live person on the phone, not to worry because the staff is very good about getting back with you.

Dr. Hamn goes over the risks of all types of surgeries. He is very detailed and is overall a great surgeon.

I did quite a bit of research on surgeons in North Texas before I called for an appointment with Dr. Hamn. He has an excellent reputation in the medical community for high volume/low complications lap band surgeries.

I would stress that you do your homework before your first group visit. He is a no nonsense surgeon who believes lap band surgery is a last chance, punitive-type procedure for the obese and, well, it is.

I'll take surgical competence over bedside manner any day. Dr. Hamn's staff is there to assist with questions and concerns and they always return phone calls. I appreciate Dr. Hamn for his skill as a surgeon and his staff for aftercare questions, etc.

All I can say about Dr. Hamn is Bravo!!! Finally a straight forward no BSing type of docter that tells you the facts and aspects of surgery without sugar coating it. He is articulate, explains things in details and takes the time to answer questions and even will crack a smile at a good joke. Prior to meeting Dr. Hamn I was concerned about him because some said he did not have the best bedside manner. But for me. He is right on track. After all this is a surgeon not a physchitrist. You want to tell your entire life story, take it elsewhere. This man is too busy trying to change lives! He gives you the tools and education and its up to you to use them.

And as far as his staff.. God Bless Melinda!! I think I rang her phone off the hook up until the day I was approved and even tho she was bombarded with many patients she always was curteous and friendly.. Did not deal that much with Vincent but what I did I'd have to say he is a lil charmer hisself. All in all I have nothing negative to say regarding DR. Hamn or his Staff.. Their good peoples in my book.

I found Dr Hamn to be a real straightforward kind of man. He is not rude or arrogant but he has a job to do in letting you know exactly what you are getting yourself into when you choose to have weight loss surgery. He encourages questions and he gives answers that you can understand. He doesn't beat around the bush or give vague answers that you have to wonder about once you leave his office.

His office staff is nice, some are more friendly than others, but no one was rude. I think that I had a very pleasant experience with his office.

I don't think I could have been refered to a better doctor.
