Stephen V. Hamn, MD Bariatric Center
I met Dr. Hamn years ago for a gallbladder surgery. I think he is an attractive well liked person. He is straight and to the point, answers all your questions and provides clear instructions and information. This is the 3rd surgery I have had and my first impression has not changed. His office staff is friendly.
His seminar are very imformative and he addresses the risk of the surgery and the aftercare.
I think he has great bedside manners and is extremely competent. He is a no-nonsense individual and that's why I like him.
Hey if you think my review of him is too perfect, please keep in mind this is my third surgery (gallblader, lymphnode removed and lap band) and I keep coming back. I trust him with all my surgical needs.
dr hamn from plano did my surgery. he is in the same office as Dr cribbins. He tends to need some work on his bedside manner. I told him i was hurting and he said....well you shouldnt be hurting that bad....i was like, well i am hurting, I didnt say i was dying. Atleast it is over and I have a healthier life to look forward to.At the appt's he was very quick, I felt like he didnt take his time or volunteer any info either.
I went to Dr. Hamn's seminar the night before my appointment, and I knew I liked him right away. He is very serious about the possible risks of any surgery, and fully explains the different types of surgeries. When I met with him the next morning, he was very caring and funny as heck!! He and his staff make people feel at ease. I would totally recommend Dr. Hamn.
Seemed pleasant enough, very knowlegable and helpful about ways to get me approved for the surgery by my insurance since I had a low bmi.I like him but he has no bedside manner at all, he never talks to you about what you eat or how much you loose. He has pretty much no aftercare, and is kind of imtimidating about fills. He thinks you dont need them to loose weight . But that said he is very careful about any aches or pains you mention he is quick to get them checked out and make sure it is not something serious.I do wish I could be a little more upfront with him about fills.I have confidence in him as a surgeon I think he needs to be a little more compassionate.
I haven't actually received my surgery date. I received my approval letter on Thursday, October 7th and faxed it to my doctor's office the next day. They said it would take approximately a week to schedule my testing, pre-op and actual surgery, so I'm waiting for that.
My introduction to Dr. Hamn and his staff was at a seminar in August. I felt that they were very friendly, professional and prepared. My impression of Dr. Hamn is that he is very knowledgeable and capable. I have heard some people mention his bedside manner but as far as I'm concerned, I need an excellent doctor who is skilled and confident in what he does - not a friend. I have heard nothing but wonderful things from other patients of his. All have said he is one of the best.
The staff in his office have all been wonderful. They are busy as I'm sure most successful practices are, but they always take time to answer my questions and help me as best they can.
At this time, I don't have a lot of information on after care and all of that. I've been told that all of that will come with the pre-op and then follow-up appointment. I'm sure there are many questions that I have that I haven't even thought of. I'm just taking all of it one day at a time.
09-18-2004 The office has been very professional and caring. Their newest member of the office is Andrea. She was so kind and wonderful, her persistance to me after the verbal insurance denial makes her a saint.
Dr. Hamn is very caring and thorough. He wanted to make sure that abnormal results on an EKG would not hinder the surgery or recovery.
So far, so good!!!
6-22-2004 First consult with dr, he is softspoken and knowledgable of all aspects of surgery.
Dr. Hamn is wonderful. I went to his seminar and he was very knowledgable, informative and honest. I feel more than comfortable with him as my surgeon. Now his staff is another story. I was 20 minutes early to my appt with all of my paperwork completed but I still waited an hour. My referral was lost and so was the other 2 patients who were waiting with me. Very unorganized and not very helpful as far as asking questions. My first impression of the office staff back in July was very negative but it was a phone call and all of the feedback on the doctors has been nothing but good. Needless to say, today's appt didn't change my views of his office staff.
I give Dr. Hamn a 10 but his office staff a 6. I would feel more than comfortable referring him to anyone but I would warn them about the office staff.
