I really liked Dr. Mann...His whole staff is great..very friendly..He explained everything to me, and answered all my questions..very easy person to talk to, I felt very comfortable and at ease the whole time.

My first impression of Dr.Chapman was that he appeared to be a nice young man and very well knowledgeable about what he is going to do for me but very rushy, the overall consultation with "him"was about 7 minutes.I think I'm gonna lik'em though, the staff was pretty ok but they all act as if they were on a break (they were laughing and loud.Dr. Chapman said I am the smallest he had ,..he said he exspected for me to be all over the table but I carry my weight very well.I thought to myself thanks for trying to make me feel good about myself. He said that he know that I will feel and look even better after the surgery and doing the after care that is a "MUST" in order to benefit from the tool booster. Well I can tell you all more when I know more after I have the surgery. I weigh 241.6 Lbs.,5'4.

My first impression of Dr. chapman was
wonderful. He made me feel like a real
person. He was very straight forward and he spent time with me so I could ask questions and get straight answers.
My impression has not changed. I go to support group meetings with others that have had surgery by him.

The office is located right by the hospital and his staff is absolutely awesome. They treat you so well and I have such respect for all of them.

Future patients should know he is very honest and he cares.

Dr. Chapman emphasized alot on the aftercare of the surgery and so does his staff.

Yes, he does have a structured aftercare which I have not had yet until after oct.
but him and the staff tell you about it over andover that is why the support group is so important also b/c there are so many answers you can get there by the staff, special speakers, and the patients. I give this office a high rating. I feel competence and the bedside manners are great. Noone is perfect and I feel that mistakes can happen and the doctor has told me about the risks and I have only seen him once and that was the first office visit and I know that I will see him more in upcoming months and years but for right now I have been very blessed to have had good results with this doctor and his staff.

I met Dr. Mann and was really satisfied. He is ULTRA cautious, but I feel that is a very good thing to have in someone who is going to be cutting on me! They have a very regimented program at Carolina Physicians which includes a nutritionist who discusses your diet for before and after the surgery and is extremely informative.

I think the only thing that I didn't like about the whole experience, was that I didn't get to meet him at first. You have to see his PA, Ursula, at your first visit to see if the surgery is right for you and schedule all of your visits. Well, Ursula was great, but I would have preferred to speak with Dr. Mann himself, if even for only a minute, before I got sent to all the appointments. But, who am I kidding? At this point, I would do almost anything to have this surgery.

They also make you sign a contract with the physician, stating that you are willing to make the necessary lifestyle changes to give the surgery the best possible outcome. This includes not drinking protein shakes after 6 weeks post op (this one I'm not sure I understand - I mean, isn't protein good for you?), eating only to the point of feeling satisfied, not eating junk food or high calorie liquids, taking vitamins for life, and that you agree to exercise on a regular basis. He also stresses, although not on the contract, that you should never smoke or drink alcohol after the surgery. They explain that this is done for your health and, why risk the surgery if you are going to continue detrimental behaviors, which I think is very smart!

My experience thus far is very satisfying and we will see how the post op experience goes...

NOTE: Post-op, I can only say that I'm even more impressed with Dr. Mann. He is very committed to his patient's wellbeing and is an excellent surgeon!

My first impression of Dr Chapman was that he would be some one I could trust. He is up front and honest. He listens and addresses all of my concerns. His office staff on the other had leaves much to be desired. Some of them are exceptionally helpful but a couple of the nurses are arrogant, unprofessional and rude. If you have a question save it for the doctor, because the nurse will bite your head off for daring to question anything.
Dr. Chapman emphasizes the importance of long term care and monitoring. He is in it for the long haul. Definitly not a drive by surgeon like some of the docs performing the procedure. Dr Chapman discussed all the risks in detail and offered data to back it all up. Dr Chapman has both surgical competence and a great bedside manner.

He is a great surgeon
My opinion of him has not changed
the staff is very nice
he is very busy and it seemed rushed sometimes
he is great at what he does
the biggest help afterwards, comes from the office people
overall, he is excellent
both are important because the surgeon should be good at what he does but also have a good bedside manner so that the patient will trust him and be better with him

He was very nice and he really knew his medicine. he explained things in terms that anyone could have understood.HIs staff was so nice. They made me feel very comfortable and they were all so easy to talk to .there was absolutely nothing that i did not like about him or his staff. He has been doing these surgerys for 30 years and he takes pride in his work. He makes sure that every thing about you is ok before he even considers you a candidate. He makes sure you know of how much care you have to take after the surgery he said that i was going to se so much of him after the surgery that we might as well be attached at the hip. As with any surgery there are minimal risk and each risk factor has a percentage. He explained all the risk and the percentages of each. It was all well covered. I will be able to tell you more once I have my surgery. I will be back soon.

My first impression of Dr. Chapman was very upfront type of guy. To the point kind of dr no beating around the bush. He explains everything to you and if you have questions he is quick to answer for you. I just returned for my pre op visit with him and he explained everything in detail to my fiancee` and myself. He told me I will be coming home with blood thinner shots to help so that I don't get blood clots in my legs. He was upfront and told me if I got a blood clot and it broke loose it would go straight to my heart and kill me. He is very concerned for his patients I can tell you that. Told me all the good and bad of the surgery. He is hoping to do mine laproscopically, he said he should have no problem doing it that way, so I should recover alittle quicker than if he had to cut me. But he did tell me of all the complications that could arise. I shall let you know more about him after my surgery.
