So Arizona Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery Bariatric Center
Extraordinary. Dr. Chiasson took plenty of time with me to explain and answer my questions. He came to the hospital after surgery to make sure I was doing all right and in subsequent office visits, made sure that all of my questions were answered. My first impression of Dr. Chiasson was at the seminar where I found him to be very serious about his profession and then later I found him to be extremely knowledgeable, explaining the risks involved as well as the benefits. At no time did I feel he was trying to "sell" his services.
His aftercare program is excellent. And he emphasized attending at least one support group per month, more if possible. We have habits that needed to be broken and it's much easier in a group.
All-in-all, it was a very positive experience and I would recommend VSG most heartedly.
This is the BEST SURGEON EVER! (sorry, kind of paraphrasing from "Tangled"). He was wonderful - came to see me as I was waking up in my room after surgery. The nursing staff was right on top of the nausea as I had forgotten to take my pre-op nausea meds. Dumb! His after surgery follow-up visits were encouraging and informative. He was patient, took the time to answer my questions and I had no complications. I had no pain to speak of, and was out of the hospital and home in no time! I recommend him to anyone looking at this surgery.
Dr Chiasson is a wonderful surgeon. When I first met him he didn't intemidate me in any way. He treated me like a human and not another number. The staff at his office are some of the nicest understanding women in the world. I would not change it for the world. I am not sure that there is anything I don't like about him. He is professional and is understanding. When he looks disappointed he still follows it with but look at how far you have come. He has been doing these surgeries for a long time and I think that he is awesome...
Dr Burpee, is a great doctor with a great attitude and sense of humor. He is confident in what he does, cause he does it well. I first met Doctor Burpee last yr after doing some research on the internet and asking around. He came highly recommended. After having some issues with my ins last year and not being able to get my surgery. I finally was able to get it approved and completed on Dec 7th 2010. I have no regrets and I am very thankful for Dr Burpee making me lose 50 Lbs prior to surgery, because it thougt me to change my eatting habits so that I can be successful in my future.
I told my Gastroenterologist that I was looking into having an RNY in another city and he said no, go see Dr. Chiasson because he does the VSG and is highly experienced. I Googled Dr. Chiasson and saw he gave seminars every month, so I went to one a few weeks later. Dr. Chiasson clearly explained the different surgeries (RNY, Band, and VSG) and showed videos of actual surgeries, which was very interesting. He answered questions and offered information that completed the picture, so I knew the pros, cons, and risks ... and I was totally convinced the VSG was for me about half way through the seminar. I went back a year later when Dr. Burpee, his partner, gave the seminar. I liked them both, but Dr. Chiasson was available when I make my initial consult and I was happy going with him because he is very clear in his explanations. They have done quite a few of the surgeries, so I felt very confident in his abilities. Dr. Chiasson is a very sincere person, easy to talk to, and pays attention to detail, which is very important to me. The total program offered to patients covers nutrition, psych eval, and a bariatric class, plus you can get your protein and vitamin supplements right at the office. The staff is fabulous, always ready to answer questions, and I've received a call each week since I was discharged to check on how I was doing and answer any questions I may have. I'm a self-pay and his office offers a package deal, so everything is taken care of for surgery, hospital, anesthesia, and my aftercare appointments. One a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give him a high 10. I called a few days after surgery, on a Saturday, when I was having some difficulties. He returned my call within 10 minutes and patiently assessed my situation, gave me instructions in a calm, relaxed manner. I'd say that really is his greatest strength aside from being a top notch surgeon. He met me at the door, went over my surgery and gave me a sheet with my weight loss goals over the next year at my 2 week post-op appointment, all with the same patience he always exhibits. I feel truly blessed to have found him because I have some medical issues that I'm not really comfortable putting into just anyone's hands. I felt safe and well cared for with Dr. Chiasson. Definitely makes this journey a whole lot easier when you have a doctor you really trust. And I'd recommend him in a heartbeat!
I met Dr. Burpee at my first WLS Seminar. When I spoke to him he was very friendly and answered my questions. After my initial consultation with him I knew that I had chosen the right doctor. Dr. Burpee's office staff is great. Everyone has been super helpful and very nice. Tracy has been there for me with all my questions over the past couple of years. I have always gotten a return call right away. Dr. Burpee and his office have been there for me every step of the way. If you are considering WLS in Tucson, AZ or even if you live close by, pleace attend a seminar at North West Hospital. Both Dr. Burpee and Dr. Chiasson are awesome doctors. They are both very friendly and easy to talk to.
