My first impression was one of confidence, which has not changed at all. He is very caring and gentle and when asked why he does this type of surgery he said for two reasons, "medical health and emotional happiness"
The staff at the Massachussett General Hospital Weight Center are wonderful everything there is made to make the obese person feel comfortable including the restrooms. The after care is extensive 16 visits with surgeon, nutritionist, and phsycologist. I would rate Dr.Sheldon Randall a definite #10

When I first met Dr Randall he scared me!!!Only kidding.. Dr. Randall is very informitive and tells it like it is. Gave me all the info and more that I needed In Black and white. Right from the beginning he informed me of obstacles I may have. I am looking forward to surgery with Dr. Randall

Dr. Randall is a great doctor. He cares alot about his patients. His staff is great - also very caring. I had to have my gall bladder removed 6 months after my GBS and they got me in for surgery quickly before any major gall bladder pain started. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Randall and his staff. In my eyes they are the best.

I had the RNY Gastric Bypass 4 years ago on Jan. 8th 1999. My first impression of Dr. Randall was not a very good one. I was his last consultation for the night and it was 9:00. I had been waiting a good 3 hours!! I brought in my list of questions and I could not get all of them answered because he was rushed with me. I did meet with him again and it was so much better, he was more relaxed. I really liked him at the second meeting. He was great, and I have had 3 surgeries from him now. I had my gastric bypass, gallbladder removed, and I had a tummy tuck. He was wonderful.... I would not want anyone else performing surgery on me. Unfortunatly, I do have to go in for a revision, which is scheduled for Feb. 3rd... less than 2 weeks away. I am nervous but it is with him, and I know he will take good care of me. When I had my original surgery they were doing 4 rows of staples. In 9-99 they started doing 8 rows of staples. So, I got the short end of the stick. Now I need a revision. I will be getting the original surgery repaired and he will add 4 more rows of staples. O am excited about it because I know I will not have to go through this anymore. I realized that there was something wrong when I started gaining weight, and my stomach hurt and I was getting heart burn again. I went for an Upper GI and they found nothing except Hietal hernia, they put me on meds for that and I was still getting this really bad pain. Well they sent me in for an endoscopy and they found a rupture in the staple line. I knew something wwas wrong. I called my surgeon and he had left the practice that I was working with. I did not know what to do, so I had to get a referral to see him outside of they practice from my primary car doctor. There was no problem getting me a refferal. I went to see him at the private practice, and he got me in within 3 weeks. So, I am ready and prepared for the pain, the depression and the recovery, all over again! I went in on 1/8/99 at 280 pnds, my lowest was 135 pnds, and now I am 155. My surgeon said after the surgery I will probably lose another 50 pounds... but I could gain a few back. I am 5'4" so I would like to be 120. That will be my goal!! The one problem that I need help with... how on earth can I get rid of the flabby arms and stretch marks on my arms???

My first impression of Dr Randall is that he is very caring and that he has been doing this for a long time and he knows what he is doing. His office staff at HVMA were very patient and handled my many calls with concern and they always answered all of my questions and returned all of my phone calls promptly. Dr Randall requires that you attend his Seminars at Lawrence Memorial Hospital before he will even consider performing the surgery, the Seminars are very informative and the people are very nice and friendly. Dr Randall emphasizes aftercare and walking walking walking. He lets you know that this is not an end all cure all but a tool that is in place to help you to acheive your goal and that nothing is one hundred percent, He also lets you know that there are risk as with any surgery and unless you are willing to go through this life change then you should pursue other options.

Dr. Randall was excellent He called me every day while I was in the hospital to see If I was ok he was just great and I am glad that I got to have him as my surgeon.

I like Dr. Randall very much, but I decided to have my surgery with Dr. Yehia who now works out of Dr. Randall's office. He is very kind and I liked him immediately. He also had a much shorter waiting list for surgery, so he was the best choice all around! Everyone at the Medford office is very personable and i feel very comfortable there.

Seems like a very nice person. Very busy. Most of my prior experience with doctors is that they tend to talk down to overweight people, as do most people. I was waiting for Dr. Randall to be judgemental but so far he seems very caring. I managed to lose 33 lbs before on visit (most has since gone back on) and I think he was more pleased than I was. He keeps saying this isn't a cure but a tool to help you get where you need to be. Has monthly meetings with about 100-150 people in attendance. The meetings are very helpful.
