Dr. Flanagan was very caring and literally spent hours with my husband and I. We got to the office at 8:45am and left at 1:20pm. Due to multiple health issues, we covered a lot of ground and Dr. answered each and every question. During surgery, Dr. Flanagan will be doing a biopsy on my four liver masses, which were originally suspect for metastatic disease and then a benign diagnoses was done at a major cancer center, but my Oncology Dr. said this was without tissue sample. I believe this added process will bring a big sigh of relief as I start my new journey on "the other side" --after all, I am 50 now. This means by my 51st. birthday, I should be thinner and healthier! This makes me very happy! YES, there is a rigid aftercare and Dr. does emphasize aftercare and it is structured. How would I rate him? This surgeon knows what he is doing! Barbara

We have yet to meet, so no opinion yet! Still waiting for insurance approval and appointment.
4/10/01 Insurance has no intention of covering obesity surgery.
4/25/01 Been trying to get in earlier to the surgeon. They have moved my appointment up to May. Finally, an appointment!
5/9/01 Yipee! Monday is my appointment!

What a wonderful man. He is kind, caring, compassionate, driven and immediately likable. I am so thrilled that I will have the number 1 surgeon in the country performing my surgery!

Everyone in his office is wonderful. I can not say enough good things about them. Thank you Karen for your persistence with my insurance!!!!

I have not met with Dr. Flanagan yet. I have delt with his staff. It has not been a plesant experience to say it nicely. I was very upset by this since I had read only great things about them. (Maybe it was their knowledge of my ins?) Kathy was the last one I had been in contact with and she has been very nice and helpful to me. I will only speak to her from now on.

Dr. Flanagan was everthing I had heard about. Very detail oriented, blunt and to the point. My consultation was late in the day and lasted to 7:00Pm in the evening. He never made me feel rushed and answered all of my questions. I had heard some people may not like his personality (I really enjoyed it). One meeting and I am sure most people would agree this is the kind of man you would want to operate on you. One thing is for sure. You must have all paper work filled out. Try not to hesitate in answering his questions. I think minimizing surgery complications begins with attention to detail in the very first meeting. This really impressed me. Dr. Flanagans is a huge proponet of the a support group, and of after care in general. I am currently a pre-op patient and cannot really comment on the after care as of yet. SO far I would rate him a 10 out of 10.

I am very impressed and inspired by Dr. Flanagan. I feel he has a wonderful personality that makes me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I feel my life is in very capable and knowledgable hands! I learned a lot just from his informational packet that I received even before I met with him, and then after the consult was even more informed. I like the fact especially that his aftercare program is so pro-active and consistent--they don't just send you off in the world after surgery, they really want to keep very much involved in your recovery etc.

my first immpression of dr.flannaghan, was that he was very short and to the pointbut as i soon found out , his tolerance for no bull and seriousness,is only because he is a very busy man trying to save many lives.the office staff is always friendly and very helpful.anyone planning to see dr.flanaghan should be prepared at all times. write down any questions you may have, and fill out all forms COMPLETLEY! do not leave any blanks.the doc means well and may come across as havingno bedside manners, but his work is said to be very thourough and very well done.he is a dr. of hi demand and only wants what is best for his patients. i am sure i am in good hands! aftercare is emphasized very much, and is something he expects to be taken very seriously. his aftercare program is very structured.his surgical compitence is much greater than his bedside manner, but when it comes to life and death, i think that is the way it should be. so far dr. flanaghan gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

My first impression of Dr. Flanagan is that he is very intelligent, direct and honest. I have only met with him once so my opinion is only based on my one contact. His office staff is wonderful. Very kind and considerate. I did feel at times that Dr. Flanagan got impatient with me. I don't believe I had filled the paperwork out thoroughly enough and left too many spaces blank which seemed to annoy him (it was my fault for not being fully prepared). He is a very busy man and I felt guilty for not having all the information there at his fingertips. I wasn't sure of some dates of surgeries I had, etc. and that was important for him to know. I would suggest to anyone that is going to see him that you be thoroughly prepared and have all of your paperwork in order. My Aunt had this surgery done by Dr. Flanagan and she looks wonderful. I am very confident of his skills as a surgeon.
