Sarasota Memorial Hospital Bariatric Center
I have listened to Dr Stevens at the support group meeting in Junction City on 12 June and was very impressed. I have an appointment to meet with him on 5 July. I will update again after that.
I am very happy with how Patty Maycroft at Liv-Lite has managed the process of getting my approval. I received insurance approval in less then 2 weeks.
If anyone is looking for a caring organization that wants to help with your problem I highly recommend LIV-LITE in Junction City.
28 Mar 2002 - I can not say enough about Dr Stevens. He is so enthusiastic about helping obese people. Dr Stevens is at every monthly support group meeting and answers all kinds of questions and gives straight forward answers. He is a 10 in my book. He has a great bedside manner and I have all the confidence in the world in his surgical ability. In my experience with the surgery and aftercare with Dr Stevens I would recommend Dr Stevens to any and all.
i like Dr.Scott Stevens very much.He seems to be very devoted to his practice of weight loss surgery. The staff at Dr.Scott Stevens' office has also been very nice to work with.Dr.Stevens is emphasizes the importance of after care and follow up of support group meetings as well as compliance. I felt that Dr. stevens was very through with explaining the risks involved with the gastric bypass sx.

I'm sorry I cannot find anything negative to say my experience was great and very positive.
Dr Stevens is a dedicated, concerned doctor.
Karla, his office nurse is wonderful!
I was very impressed with Dr. Stevens when I met him. He was very straight forward and honest, open about everything. He said that he finds this surgery more rewarding then any other type of surgery he does, because he is not just helping someone get back to the life they already had, he is helping them to get back to a better life then they ever had, a different life. His nurse is wonderful! Very informative and caring.
My first impression of Dr. Stevens was that he was very professional, caring and informative. It doesn't hurt that he's also very nice-looking. He answered my questions,
took time to explain everything in terms that
I could understand, and was very thorough in
checking out any previous medical history that might be a problem. I had been hospitalized with what turned out to be
A-flutters (my heart rate sped up to 185 for no apparent reason) only two weeks before my first appointment with Dr. Stevens, and he ordered a stress test with my PCP just to be sure that everything was really okay with my heart. When I had my pre-op tests done on Aug. 3, he came to see me after I was done and told me that the only thing that showed up was that my blood was a little low in iron
so I would have to take iron supplements, but that everything was a go for the surgery. I have been very impressed with everyone I have come into contact with at Liv-Lite and Dr. Steven's office and then at
out-patient services at the Geary Community Hospital in Junction City, Kansas. They are all so friendly and I got the feeling that they genuinely care and want you to have the best care and attention through the whole process. I can't say that there was anything that I didn't like about Dr. Stevens. I would recommend him to anyone who is interested in this surgery. He expained how important good aftercare is and he agreed that since I live so far away, it would be a good idea for my PCP to do some of my follow-up visits. I give him a super rating as far as knowledge and competence. I
am sure that he will do a fabulous job in the
operating room. I am stating the facts as they apply to my experience with Dr. Stevens up to this point. I will update later when I am on "the other side" and let you know about my experience with Dr. Stevens, the surgeon.
10/6/01 - Hello, from "the other side". My
surgery went very well. And, Dr. Stevens, his nurse, Carla (she is so soft-spoken and sweet), and all the nurses and aides in the hospital took very good care of me. Also, my dietician, Heather, was very helpful and informative and said if I had any questions after I got home, to be sure and call. I am glad I chose Dr. Stevens for my surgeon. He is so intelligent about this surgery and is caring and kind and I would definitely recom-mend him for others who are thinking of having this surgery.
Dr. Stevens met with my wife and I for our surgical consultation on May 29. He is poised and confident. Moreover, he expresses a genuine interest in each of us and our questions and concerns about the surgery. The surgical consult is very thorough. We first met Patty (it was nice to put a face with the voice), then Heather the dietician, then Dr. Stephens, and finally his nurse, Carla. Each person on staff makes you feel like a person an not just a patient. I watched them interact with several pre-op patients as well as a post-op patient. They treat the pre-op patients courteously and the post-op patient like a long lost friend. I appreciated everyone's candor concerning the necessity of viewing this surgery as a TOOL and their insistence that each patient demonstrate a willingness to commit to a LIFETIME of eating and lifestyle changes. I was most impressed with all of the information they provide to get us to recovery (post op care). I'll update more after pre ops and surgery.
5/30/01 (Pre-Op)
Dr. Stevens is very thorough. He answered each question and took the time to let us discuss & ask questions about anything and everything regarding the procedure.
Everyone from Patty @ Liv-Lite to Heather, dietician to Carla, Dr. Stevens' nurse was informative and thorough. They all wanted to make sure we understood every detail about the whole process, negative and positive.
They have explicit instructions on what you are expected to do, what to eat, what can be anticipated, & a diagram of the surgery (VERY HELPFUL). You can tell that they care about how people will feel and react to this LIFE-CHANGING surgery.
I met him and he did the first evaluation. He was very thorough. They screen their patients to make sure they are a good candidate for the surgery, and will be ready to make the changes. I am very impressed with this Doc. He and his partner do all the surgeries together. They are very serious about what they do, and they treated me with respect and genuine care. He scheduled the pre-op and gave me a surgery date.
5/27 Post op report. Dr Stevens is a fine surgeon. His bedside manner and follow up has been superb so far. I have had a couple of very minor complications, and being a big baby I have called him a few times. I live 1 1/2 hours away from his office. He has always been available to talk to me, he even gave me his home number if I felt I needed to reach him outside of office hours. He promised that if I felt I wanted him to see me he would be available. He actually answers his phone himself sometimes, but has always responded to messages as soon as he could. I couldn't reccomend him more, I have no reservations about him at all.
His staff is terrific. His nurse, Carla helped keep everything straight right up to the surgery and sorted out mistakes made by my primary care doc. She is an angel.
The Geary Community Hospital where he works out of is terrific. It is a small hospital, but state of the art. The nursing staff is top notch. I never saw a face that didn't have a smile and everyone treated me like a king.
My first impression of him was one of confidence. He is very helpful and he and his
staff where very helpful in making sure that
I understood everything about the surgery and what to expect afterwards. He really seemed to be concered about me and my well being. There wasn't anything about him that I
didn't like about him.I find him to be a very compentent doctor. He has a very structured aftercare system. I believe anyone
wanting to do this should the benifits out
wieght the risk of health problems you may
have in the future.
