Sarasota Memorial Hospital Bariatric Center
Dr. Stevens is very supportive and caring about his patients. I feel like I get a little boost of extra will power every time I go to see him. He was very professional from the first time I saw him. His office nurse Carla is also great to work with. He even checked on me 2 or 3 times a day the first couple of days after surgery. His bedside manner is wonderful. I will definetly being seeing Dr. Stevens if I need any further surgeries in the future. The aftercare program is awsome. I absolutely love the monthly support group meetings that the Doctors and nurses even go to. Dr. Stevens is wonderful.
Dr. Stevens is small in stature. Not intimidating. Dr. Stevens was very up front about the risks of the surgery and that this has to be a life style change. Also stressing that this shouldn't be a decision that one should consider lightly. The two doctors (Dr. Charles Bollman and Dr. Scott Stevens) that do this surgery at Geary County Community Hospital in Junction City KS; are truly dedicated to making the morbid obese person's life longer and more productive. These two doctors were doing this long before others jumped on the money making band wagon. They both show the precise amount of knowledge, care and compassion to make every patient feel like their only patient. I would rate these doctors 20 on a scale of 1-10. I would not intrust my life in the hands of any other doctor('s) for this procedure. I also have to note that Eileen (Dr. Boleman's nurse) and Karla (Dr. Steven's nurse) are awesome as well. I call Karla my angel, she is the earthiest, kindest, most soft spoken, gentlest, giving, beautiful, loving spirit I have ever known. There is nothing she would not do for her patients. I am confident that all will go well with my surgery, because I could not, in my opinion; be in better care anywhere else with anyone else. I know we aren't suppose to rate excellent on everything. But honestly I cannot think of anything negative to say about the doctors or their staff.
I heard so much about the LivLite program in Junction City that it is part of what made me sure I wanted this surgery. That feeling was amplified when I went for my consultation and met Patty, Pam and Jennifer the dietician. They all really seemed to care about me and my experience. They took the time to explain everything in detail for me. Then I met with Dr. Stevens who again went over all risks, procedures, etc. to make sure I knew what I was getting into. And finally I met the nurse Carla who reiterrated everything again. They don't want to scare you but they really want you to know that they will do the best for you but there are some risks. Knowing that this program is tops in it's field makes me feel good. I haven't met Dr. Bollman yet but I've heard nothing but good about his bedside manner. Everyone seems to care so much for you. The seating was comfortable and roomy enough and I gotta tell you we think we have it bad cause we have to deal with insurance, well Pam and Patty work for us everyday trying to get insurance approval and they have to have very thick skins. Those ladies work their butts off and my sister and I are extremely grateful to them for that!
I went in to the Liv Lite center in Junction City to visit with Pam and Jennifer (Nutritionist). I was relieved to see that EVERYONE in the office was so nice and helpful and I felt so welcome there that I couldn't believe how great everyone was. Also how concerned they were with my needs. Then I was introduced to Karla (Dr. Stevens nurse) She was fantastic and took care of all the paperwork and told me pretty much everything that would happen to me after surgery and to expect that it would not be the greatest feeling right after surgery and all the tubes that I would have with me for the days following surgery. They had me have a Psych evaluation and have all my medical history sent to them before I met with Dr. Stevens so that when I went in I would leave with a surgery date. I felt that I got in to see them very quickly. I had made an appointment with a surgeon in my area and had to wait 3 months to see him, not only that I would have to wait at least a month from the time we visited to go have all the evaluations done before I could even get a surgery date. So I was pleased with how fast Dr. Stevens office was able to get me in. Dr. Stevens office is very concerned with aftercare and require post-op evaluations at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, 1 yr, and yearly after that. If you are unable to come back to them they ask that you find a Dr. that will send them updates because they are very concerned about the patient and want to be able to be the first to know of any problems. They offer a support group and recommend that you attend. I live over 2 hours from the hospital so it is hard for me to make it to the mettings. I felt that all the risks were covered in my meeting at the office and the packet of information they sent me allowed me to contact people who had the surgery with the Dr. as well. I felt confident that I would be in good hands with Dr. Stevens. They have done over 200 gastric bypass surgerys and all have been successful. Hopefully I will be anothe success story.
Super nice - young.
It did not change - he was great.
Fabulous office staff (one nurse in the hospital I did not particularly care for, but she was efficient).
He was skinny :)
He is great, sensitive to your needs and very understanding.
Strongly.
Yes.
Very openly and in detail.
A superb doctor, he knows what he is doing.
Both were great.
Dr. Stevens is a very knowledgeable and skilled surgeon. He is very upfront about the possible complications from this surgery. His office nurse Carla is wonderful, so kind and caring.
I was very impressed with Dr. Stevens as well as the rest of the staff. Everyone was very friendly and informative. My husband went with me and he was equally impressed. They left me feeling very well informed and did not leave anything uncovered.
