I met with Dr. Lord today for the first time. I had previously seen him at his confrence at Sacred Heart in September. I was very impressed at the confrence with the large amount of detail that Dr. Lord went over. Dr. Lord seemed to really take his time to explain thoroughly explain the procedures and did not seem to rush. He stayed around until everyone's question was answered. At the time of the confrence, I submitted paperwork and requested an appointment. Today I had my first face-to-face. I was even more impressed with Dr. Lord in the office. He was very thorough and professional. He discussed my personal weight loss goals and my current physical condition and advised that the Lap-Band procedure would probably be best suited for me. I was the last patient of the day, yet his office staff did not make any attempt to rush me through my appointment. They took their time to explain the pre-surgical procedures including what steps would need to be taken to potentially be approved for the surgery by my insurance company. I look forward to a long & successful weight-loss relationship.

i have done alot of research on this "weight loss surgery" and i have decided to go with dr. jeffrey lord at sacred heart hospital....i attended his seminar the other night and was very very impressed with him and his knowledge.....he was also highly recommended!

So far, so good. Dr. Lord is extremely knowledgable and willing to answer any and all questions I have. His informational session was like a bariatric surgery crash course. He made sure to give people websites they could visit for information, as I don't think you could get everything you need to know from an hour-long session. I've been in the office a few times for consults with the psychiatrist and nutrionist and the staff is very friendly and sensitive. The have a great book for patients about aftercare and what to expect. They will be moving into a new office soon, which will be great since it's so small now. I will be attending my first support group meeting next week. Overall Dr. Lord was exactly what I was looking for: competent, confident and caring.

I was Dr Lord's first patient at Sacred Heart's new Bariatric Center. I first saw him at an information seminar that my husband and I went to in June and was very impressed with his presentation. He was very outgoing and answered all questions with no hesitation. My initial appointment was this past Monday and as I said I was his first patient. He spent 3 hours with us explaining the different types of surgery and going over my medical history! I have been in contact with his office staff since I went to the seminar. They contacted my insurance and have instructed me on the plan I must follow prior to the surgery. His office staff and assistant, Jan Carlo have done alot of research for me and I do appreciate them all. He emphasized both the preoperative stages as well as the postop requirements that I will need to follow. He did not mince words when he went through the risks of surgery and explained the different problems that coud occur. At this point I would rate him and recommend him highly, he makes you feel like you are important, and makes you very comfortable. Another thing that really impressed me was the fact that when I was seeing my other doctors and asking their support for this big step that I am taking, they all seemed to know about him and his reputation as being a highly recommended bariatric surgeon. This alone made me feel like I am making a good decision, not only about the surgery, but the surgeon I picked.

I went to 3 of Dr. Lord's seminars and I thought he was the surgeon for me. Now after I have met him for my consultation, I know he is the surgeon for me. He knows his stuff and he's thorough. His staff are fantastic. The people in Virginia were right - Pensacola gained when they lost.

My name is Shelby, and when i first met Dr Lord, it was through an apointment with Dr Chastanet, and i was very impressed with them both. Dr Lord was obviously very professional, serious, and very interrested in finding out how best to help.

He has continued, after almost two years of prep, classes, apointments, clinics, and through my surgery, to be a professional, personable man, who obviously cares deeply for every person in his care. He is also a perfectionist. He is very serious about what he does, and very comfortable with the complexities of gastric bypass.

He, and Dr C were wonderful after surgery. They were there to address any concerns, and there to lift spirits, and keep you feeling beautiful and encouraged. Becasue of their overwhelming confidence, i never once questioned my success.

Patients should know that he runs a VERY tight program, and this is not an easy ride. You have high expectations of him, and he has JUST as many expectations of you to stick with the plan. He and his team make sure every patient is prepared for the life change that takes place with this surgery. This is a lifelong commitment, period.

In my opinion, i would not trust my body to another surgical team in the country. Dr Lord and Dr Chastanet make an amazing team. Dr Lord also stands alone as a singularly amazing surgeon. As he moves on to Florida, i know he will have as big a following as he does here. I have been completely happy with the new life he has helped to nurture....

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR.LORD WAS A VERY POSITIVE ONE.I CAME TO BARIATRIC SURGERY BECAUSE OF MY ACID REFLUX AND HE TOLD ME THE SURGERY COULD GET RID OF THAT. BUT I WOULD HAVE TO GO HOME AND READ THE BOOK AND THINK ABOUT IT BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT DOING SURGERY ON ME UNTIL I HAD KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT IT WAS I WAS GETTING INTO. SO I DID THAN ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF I CALL THE CLINIC AND DECIDED TO GET ON THE LIST. I FELT REAL GOOD THAT DR. LORD WAS GOING TO BE DOING MY SURGERY BUT MY SURPRISE WHEN I GOT TO ORIENTATION I FOUND OUT HE WOULD BE LEAVING MY HEART DROP. I KNEW NOTHING OF THIS OTHER SURGEON AND I WAS COMFORTABLE WITH DR. LORD. I BEGAN TO HAVE SECOND THOUGHTS BECAUSE THE GENIUS THAT I HAD HEARD SO MUCH ABOUT WAS LEAVING.(THEY CALL HIM GOD'S GIFT)I AM REALLY UPSET THAT HE IS LEAVING AND IF I HAD THE MONEY I WOULD GO TO FLORDIA TO HAVE MY SURGERY DONE BY DR. LORD. I'M SAD TO SEE HIM GO BUT TO ANYONE WHO'S THINKING ABOUT HAVING BARIATRIC SURGERY YOU COULDN'T ASK FOR A BETTER DR. THAN DR.LORD HIMSELF ONE OF GOD'S ANGELS!

Well, where do I even begin. You say "no one is the best in all aspects", however, I really have nothing negitive to report about Dr. Lord. My first impression of him was very positive. He is professional, organized and caring. One of the things that impressed me, was the book he put together for all of his patients. It provides detailed information re. bariatric surgery and leaves no question unanswered.
I had surgery on April 4th, 2005 and from the orientation to the surgery and follow-up appointments, I have been well informed and very well taken care of.
I felt honored to have Dr. Lord as my surgeon and I know I was in good hands the entire time. To say he is a competent surgeon is an understatment and his bedside manner is better than I have ever experienced. I was checked on (by him) frequently during my hospital stay and it was obvious that he takes care of his patients.
If you are reading this and you are in FL awaiting or thinking of surgery with Dr. Lord, you are a blessed person. He is GOOD! He has been given a gift in this area. Then, to top it off, you have Jan Carlo as well. What an outstanding person. This team is professional and they know what they are doing. I could go on and on, but I will stop there.
By the way, I am nearly 10 weeks post-op now. I have lost 50-55 lbs, I feel wonderful. I have lowered my blood pressure, completely stopped snoring (which was terrible!) and have more energy than I thought I would ever have again.
Thank you Dr. Lord, you have given me my life back. Julie

Dr. Lord is very very very knowledgeable, honest, caring, experienced, straight forward, funny, has impecable bedside manners. These are only a few of the ways to describe him there are many many more. He believes in his skill and knowledge to perform this surgery. If you follow his directions you will reach your goal. He has put together a bariatric team that is second to none. On a scale of 1-10 he rates 10++++. He provides you with a wealth of information and all of your questions and concerns about this surgery are answered in the "BLUE BOOK" he put together for all of his patients as well as him going over everything with you personally. His before and aftercare program is "EXCELLENT". If you live in the Pensacola, Fla. area and are planning to have this surgery I "HIGHLY RECOMMEND" Dr.Lord without hesitation or regret. You will not be dissapointed and you will "LOVE" his case manager Jan Carlo. Count yourself blessed if you have him for your surgeon. The military and Virgina is loosing oneof the #1 Bariatric Surgeon here. (SOOOOOOO SAD)
