My first impression was very good. He is very proffesional and seems very competent.
His front office staff consist of 3 women 2 of which where very helpful. The other was like pulling teeth to get any information.
I can't say anything bad at this point he has answered all of my questions and pointed out things I wasn't aware of so I guess the only negative thing is he only does surgery 2 days a week.
He addressed several risks related to the surgery and the steps he personally takes to prevent them, such as a blood thinner to avoid clots.
I think surgical competence is more important than bedside manner, however I would search until I found a Dr. with both. That is why I chose Dr Krause instead of the surgeon I met with at the Bariatric Treatment Center in Ypsilanti.

dr krause was my first choice for a surgeon..he has a year waiting list, i waited
a year to see him. in the mean time, i had a consult a btc in ypsilanti mi...i was not impressed. the dr was very nice, the room i was in was dirty, garbage over flowing in the trash can and a empty pop can sitting on the table...this was not good! btc does the procedure open, i wanted it lap...so i waited
for dr krause. he finally called. i am scheduled for march 11 at beaumont hospital
in royalaok,mi. i think i made the right
choice. from what i have heard, dr krause is the best..(dr lane at btc was also very nice). dr krause's after care program seems
to be a little better than btc..you meet with
him, the internist and the dietican for 1 year post -op..the support groups meet monthly. both doctors explained the risks
and the benefits. i will keep you posted. my big day is just around the corner...

My first impression of Dr. Krause was "boy is he young!" and "he looks like Dr. Green on ER!" But as he started to talk and explain the surgery, I realized that he was very informative and very knowledgable about the entire concept and different options out there. Dr. Krause explained the history behind wls and the changes that have taken place over the past 20 years. Dr. Krause's staff was very friendly and helpful! Aftercare is very important to Dr. Krause. We talked for a while regarding the importance of it and the tests and things that would be done. We talked about the risks of surgery and the different factors that could possible play a role and what pre-cautions he and his staff take to avoid these. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Krasue and his staff.

Dr.Krause is just not like any other doctor I have dealt with. I am currently an employee of one of Michigan's top hospital/health systems. I have been employed for well over 10 years and work in constant contact with many physicians. He is quite unique in that he is very personal with his patients. He treats each person with respect and personal attention. The entire time I have dealt with him, he has not once ever had his office staff handle his telephone calls. He always personally calls me back. He even called my insurance company personally. I find this a refreshing change. He has direct eye contact and takes his time with you in every explanantion and questions you are trying to ask. I feel confident in my choice of him as a surgeon as his track records with laparascopic surgeries goes. He has explained in depth all the risks and what he and the Beaumont staff will be doing to minimize them. I also appreciated his referring me to the Beaumont Center for Weight Control. I liked the dietician he assigned me to and feel that I will be in good hands for follow up meetings. I will be happy to post more after my surgery...

I e-mailed Dr. Krause several times before I met him. He was very responsive. When I first meet him I thought WOW! is he young, but he knows his trade. I am impressed with Dr. Krause skill as a surgeon and how he made me feel as if I was he only patient. His office staff made everything move quickly and took care of all insurance issues. What did I like least - I called in April to make an appointment and couldn't get one until November. (He was worth the wait). Future patients be prepared to wait. Aftercare, he stressed and sent me to work with he team. Aftercare program gives you a step by step notebook tailored for you, plus the ability to talk personally with staff members and phone numbers to call with questions. Dr. Krause was up-front about risks. Dr. Krause is excellent and caring. Dr. Krause has great surgical ability and I will have limited scaring. (small ones) He came to see me the afternoon of surgery and personally removed my nose tube. He is very caring and is a good listener.

After being introduced to this web site, I located a Dr. that performs Bariatric surgery at Royal Oak Beaumount Hospital. I contacted Dr. Kevin Krause's office immediately and I have a consultation appointment date of October 13, 2003 - yep..... "2003". At this time Dr. Krause is the only Dr. at this hospital that is performing this type of surgery.

I have researched Dr. Krause through other AMOS family members and have been very, very pleased with the feedback and wonderful comments I have heard regarding Dr. Krause. I am very anxious and somewhat disappointed that my consultation is so far off in the future - was hoping to have in 2002. I have asked the office staff of course to contact me immediately if at any time there is a cancellation and my appointment can be moved up, will just keep praying daily and maybe my prayers will be answered sooner rather than later.

I had my consultation with Dr. Krause on August 28, 2002. I had to wait over five months to see him, and now I know why he is booked; he is fantastic!

Dr. Krause is the first doctor I have had who has ever personally replied to an e-mail. He is also the first doctor that has ever made me feel completely at ease during my appointment. He willingly answered questions, he actually read the brief medical history that I had written up, he looked me in the eye while I was talking to him... it was wonderful. I can honestly say that I left his office feeling like my needs mattered to him, and he cared about my well-being as a person, because he saw me for me, and not just my fat. Dr. Krause is sending my insurance information out this week, so hopefully I'll have an approval within the next couple of weeks.

If anyone has any questions regarding my consultation, please feel free to e-mail me. I will gladly answer!

My internist collected all necessary as well as his recommendation for the surgery to Dr. Krause. The office staff said my paperwork is on his desk. So I'm just waiting to hear from him. Someone suggested I send him an email. Apparently he answers emails promptly.

Well, I guess I should have stayed with my first choice in Surgeon's. Dr Krause was my first choice in this and I almost cancelled my appointment with him, after obtaining a sooner appt. with another surgeon..Boy I am so glad I kept my appointment with Dr. Krause. He was very friendly and I felt very comfortable with him. He explained everything to me in terms I could relate to. But I think what I liked most is that when I ran into a snag in some of the tests he wanted me to have done his office staff was very quick to offer an alternative. I got everything done and I am extremely satisfied with how quickly they got me a Surgery date. The other surgeon doesn't have anything available until 2003--I don't want to wait that long..
I'm grateful to Dr. Krause and his staff for working so hard to get me my date asap. (They must know how impatient I can really be.)
