Penn Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
Dr Kirkland was very nice and understood alot of my fears and was very informative about them and i felt at ease more after talking with him, he also saw a group at one time so everybody heard what he had to say and answered any question the group might have that way everybody leared about everyones fears and adressed them in a group
His staff was nice all though it was small in there and had to move around things.
I would recamend Dr Kirkland to everybody who asked me, he discussed everything from just thinking about the surgery to aftercare and what you might expect to happen not meaning that it would like the dumping syndrome and so forth you name it he talked about it he spent 2hrs with us as a group and i think everybody was pleased and very informed in general. He went over all the risk in great lenght and answered any question you had. I would rat Dr Kirkland a big 11 on a scale of 1 to 10.
My first impression of Dr. Schuricht was that he was very down to earth and had a great personality. I just found out about an hour ago that my insurance approved my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I have a lot of confidence in my surgeon. The staff has also been very nice. They have a "please don't call us, we will call you" policy, which I was not fond of through the insurance approval waiting period, but that is just so they can give their full attention to their already scheduled and post op patients. I called my insurance company to get around this and they were actually the first ones to tell me that I had been approved. Then I called the office and scheduled my surgery. I would recommend Dr. Schurict to anyone thinking of the surgery. I am confident that he will perform a successful operation and that I will be on my way to a healthy weight!!
I was and still am VERY impressed with Dr. Williams and his staff. Aftercare is VERY EMPASIZED with the doctor and his staff. they have given me sooooooo much info on supplements, websites, etc. Also the do's and don'ts. They are very accessible and return calls promptly. They are also very informative with any questions you may have. The risks of surgery where explained in full and what precautions he would take to avoid and/or lower the risks. I have not experienced any thing negative AS OF YET. Athough I will keep you posted!!!!!
I met with Dr. Kirkland'd partner Dr Wernsing. He was very nice and informed. He gave a very general speech about how the surgery is done and some of the things to expect. I think that he was a little short with him one on one consult. Overall I hope to have a the surgery with him within the next month or two. He did spent some time talking about the risk factors of infection and maybe having to be reopened if there are problems.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF MY SURGEON WAS HE REALLY KNOWS HIS STUFF.
IT NEVER CHANGED.
DR.KIRKLAND STAFF'S WAS NOT THE BEST BUT I GOT WHAT WAS NEEDED DONE.
DR.KIRKLAND HAS BEEN PERFORMING BYPASS SURGERY FOR 17 YEARS. HE REALLY KNOWS WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
AFTERCARE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DR.KIRLAND.
HIS TEAM OF NUTRIONIST AND THE ONCE A MONTH MEETINGS ARE GREAT.
EVERYTHING WAS EXPLAINED WITHOUT BEATING AROUND THE BUSH.
I WOULD RATE DR.KIRKLAND A 10!!
BOTH
He told us everything we had to know. How many people have had problems and died (1 and thats cause of what he ate)
His office staff is great. Very sweet and friendly and takes care of EVERYTHING from doctors appt with others to insurance. GREAT!
He is a very capable surgeon and has the best group of assistants I have ever come across. They will answer questions quickly and effiiciently.
My impression has been re-enforced over time.
Very busy man-saw his staff most of the time-lucky they are very capable.
You will get a fine surgeon, and great post operative follow-up
Hosp. of Univ Of PA has a group that meets 2nd sat of each month and he has a structured follow-up. They said I was part of the "family" now and would be so for the rest of my life-yes they follow up after the surgery.
Risks of surgery were addressed directly and clearly.
I would choose him again. He is a man of few words and I could have done with a little more personal touch. But I would choose him again.
My first impression was that he was young and good looking and that made me skeptical. My first meeting was at a group meeting and I did feel that it was impersonal. After having time to think it over, I can see how difficult it would be for him to answer the same questions to 15 people individually since some people that were there were just in the thinking stage. Since then I also found out that he has been doing the surgery for 17 years. My initial appointment was May 11 and I received my surgery date on June 28 and the surgery date is July 19. I will see a cardiologist and pulmonologist this week. I will se the doctor, the nutritionist and I will also get the pre-admission testing on July 15.
