Penn Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
My first impression as well as my sister (who is a nurse)was that I had found the perfect surgeon and I no longer had the fear of surgery hanging over my head.
The office staff is very busy and not as friendly as they could be.
I would reccomend Dr. Kirkland to anyone and feel confident that I had done them a favor by doing so.
Dr. Kirkland is also busy and does seem to take care of you at a fast pace. I feel I would rather have top notch in the OP and I can always chit chat with the nurses and interns.
I was extremely impressed by Dr. Williams.
I think more highly of him as the time passes by.
His staff was outstanding.
He also is outstanding.
Future patients should have the utmost confidence in Dr. Williams.
Staff aftercare is strong, but can use more improvement.
The University of Pennsylvania has stuctured aftercare.
Dr. Williams and his staff addressed the risks of surgery to my total and complete understanding.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate Dr. Williams 10+.
Surgical competence and bedside manner were both impeccable.
Dr.Williams was most informative about the pros and cons of the surgery. He was up front and and did not hide anything. The office staff and program director were very good at explaining everything and the dietary staff was also very good.
My impression of Dr. Williams has not changed since I first met him. I would advise any one in the Philadelphia area to go to see him and talk to the staff about the surgery. Dr. Williams has a great bedside manner, and is compassionate, surgically he is one of the best.
When I first met Dr. Schuricht I was a bit shell shocked. I'm very laid back and quiet but Dr. Schuricht is stright forward and tells it like it is. I was thinking this guy must be crazy saying if we didn't loose weight he'd be putting his foot up our butts but then the more he talked and then when I had my one on one with him I could tell that he was truely concerned with the person. I think I couldn't have picked a better surgeon and I did see two others before Dr. Schuricht. I think he is the best.
GREAT DOCTOR! In my book he's 10x better than the best. I had uncooperative physiology but everything ultimately worked out great. Fantastic aftercare while still Inpatient (helped by a great hospital / nursing / residents) and fantastic aftercare as well!
I did alot of preop research but his pre-op classes filled in some holes I didn't realize I had in my knowlege and made me feel confident about his approach to handling surgical risks (which as a patient who ultimately had complications made me feel more secure).
The last question - better with competance or bedside manner - he's great with both but a slight (very) edge to the surgical skill. I'm only picking the one as I would never want to see him leave surgery!
