Park Nicollet Bariatric Surgery Program Bariatric Center
When I first met \"Dr. Chuck\" I asked him why he'd chosen bariatrics for a profession. His response was that he found it so gratifying to help obese people find solutions to a problem they'd often been fighting all of their lives. I was sold! He is very patient, thorough and great to answer your questions. Unfortunately, you don't see much of him during the process but he has an excellent support staff that you'll work with regularly. Both my family and I were very comfortable talking with him.
My first impression of Dr. Svendsen was that he was friendly and made me laugh, so he made me feel comfortable right away. I didn't really have many questions about the procedure, but he asked again and again if I had any. Since I'm a nurse, I felt that I really understood the procedure going into it... But for a lay person, I'm just saying it seems that he would be very patient and thorough in answering questions if needed. Dr. Svendsen was recommended to me by my friend Heather from work, who had her surgery just a couple weeks before I did. She knew other people he had operated on, and she had heard that he was the best. Dr. Svendsen shared with me that his complication rate was much lower than the national average. Methodist hospital is a \"center of excellence\" for bariatric surgery. I felt very confident. Even though I didn't have many questions, he thoroughly addressed the risks of surgery, and he also discussed with me in detail the game plan for surgery that considered my health history. I would recommend him to anyone considering bariatric surgery. He does a lot of these surgeries every year and is truly a specialist in this field.
My first impression of my surgeon was that he was very professional and cared about his patients. My impression hasn't changed at all, in fact over the past year my thoughts on him have been solidified. Not to mention his office staff is up to the same level of professionalism as him. As far as the aftercare, addressing the risks etc, the office staff and him were excellent. I've continued to lose weight and I am still so very thankful to have found Dr. Svendsen and his staff. I personally think that if someone's considering having weight loss surgery they should seriously look into getting Dr. Svendsen as their doctor.
I had my surgery done by Dr. Jones. I had only talked to him twice before surgery date, but he was reasonable and I enjoyed meeting him. He seemed confident in what he does, which made me feel more secure. He offered alternative options to a \"whole hershey's king sized candy bar\" post surgery since I confessed that I was addicted to chocolate. He didn't say, \"just say no!\", he said be smart and careful, and then he offered an idea on how to satisfy that craving. I had some issues before and after my surgery wich involved calling him late at night right before my surgery and requiring him to stay up and deal with those issues when he had to be in for my surgery at 5 am the next morning. He was still upbeat and positive. I also had some major freaking out where I demanded surgery reversal the day after my surgery. He actually warned my husband that I personaly may go through that, and when Dr. Jones came to deal with it, he was so comforting and helpful. He really cares about his patients. He is NUMBER 1 in my book.
