he is very down to earth person and it hasn't changed. the staff is fantastic very helpful and knowledgeable, a lot of the lady's in the office have had the surgery themselves so they relate to you and help with hints on problem areas.
the risks of surgery did not outweigh the risk of my health at the time I was very sick and needed this surgery.
10 stars for Dr. Jones
both are great

My surgeon was very personable. He does many WLS each year and is competent. I would recommend him to others

I really have nothing bad to say. He was very pleasant and so was his clinic staff. He explained everything I needed to know and made sure my questions were answered. The first thing he told me were the risks - from worst to not as bad, then told me the benefits. The surgery went great, I had NO pain from the surgery. When I called in to the hospital with a question after my surgery, everyone was very helpful. I would definitely recommend him and Park Nicollet to everyone.

11/17/2009: I am currently one year post-op (my surgery was on 11/11/2008), and I have lost 174 pounds since I went in for my first bariatric consultation at Park Nicollet in February of 2008. I feel great and I have had no side effects! Dr. Svendsen is an AWESOME bariatric surgeon, and the Park Nicollet bariatric program rocks! I was totally treated like a Rock Star during my two days in the hospital BEFORE, DURING and AFTER my surgery!

10/01/2008: After seven months of dietician appointments and other related examinations required for insurance approval, I was approved by BCBS of Minnesota in just three days after I was submitted! I went in today to attend the pre-surgery class that one of the bariatric nurses at Park Nicollet (Barb Johnson) holds. I also got to meet my surgeon for the first time - Dr. Charles (Chuck) Svendsen. My wife was also with me for this visit. Here are my first impressions. Dr. Svendsen is very detail oriented and very, very honest. He gave me very candid, honest up front responses to all of my questions. And he was able to back up his information with hard statistics that he seems to have very strong command of. To be honest, my first meeting with Dr. Svendsen put me at ease for my upcoming surgery, if not a little more anxious to have the surgery day come sooner. After this appoinment, I got my official "before" picture taken for the Park Nicollet Bariatric Program archives. I also got my surgery date! Tuesday, November 11th. I can't wait!

My first impression of Dr Svendsen is that he is a really nice, personable guy. He came in, introduced himself and shook my hand with a big smile. He's very easy to talk to, he knows his stuff, and I feel like I can trust him to take good care of me during my surgery. He explained everything to me, gave me time to ask my list of questions that I had for him and he was very honest with me. I feel like he is not only completely competent in handling mys surgery, but he also has a great bedside manner. rnrnHe definitely stresses the utter importance of aftercare. Following up with the dietitians and the nurse appointments is a vital part to the success of this!rnrnPark Nicollet and the Methodist Hopital staff have gone above and beyond for me. I think this program is awesome, the staff is awesome, the nurses actually call you back in a reasonable amount of time. The ladies at the scheduling/check-in desk are so nice and helpful. I never feel judged by anyone there. This hospital is over two hours away from where I live but that doesn't matter, I wouldn't consider going anywhere else!

I really liked my surgeon from first meeting. He is extremely friendly(also good looking). During his hospital check-in to me, I asked about the constant hiccups I was having. Jokingly, he offered thorozine. The office staff is very friendly and more than willing to work with my needs. Every person I had to see prior to surgery were awesome to talk with and work together.

I met Tom Jones on March 18th to set my surgery date. He was a very nice and down to earth guy. Made me feel 100% comfortable and at ease. He told me the risks (which were VERY minimal because of my age). He was realistic with me. I respected that. I didn't see him again till the date of my surgery, he swung by with a big smile on his face. My mom loved him, he took the time after my surgery to talk with her for a while. Only complaint I have is that I will never see him again. It would be nice if at least 1 post op visit was with him. But oh well. :o)

Dr. Svendsen is my new hero :) I liked him immediately when I met him. He made me feel comfortable, he answered all my questions and the nurses love him! (That's always a good sign!)rnrnMy parents went with me to the hospital and were very impressed with him. He found them right after surgery to give them an update on me -- and he checked in with me the next day. rnrnHe told me all of the risks, he went over his record performing the surgery. I honestly can't think of a negative! From the minute I was approved, everything went smooth. Park Nicollet was a fantastic place to be -- if its possible to \"enjoy\" surgery, I have to say I did.
