He is an awesome surgeon.

The office staff is very helpful and knowledgable.

I do not know much about their aftercare program as I moved out of state shortly after my surgery.

Over all I rate him and his staff 9.5

AtFirst I felt Dr. Rumsey was very harsh and cold becuase he demaned that I loose another 20lbs after I had already lost down to 280 lbs from 315 lbs which was not an easy thing for me to do since I also had an in-active thyroid gland.

But Dr. Rumsey explained how to loose the 20 lbs fast...I was to quit eating most solid foods, and eat only the protien supplement powder...
This was in August 2003...

By October 2003, I had lost almost 18 lbs and Dr. Rumsey wanted to do the surgery the last of October or first of November, but I had been invited out of town to a music jam scession so the surgery was posponed until January 2004.

The day of my surgery I weighted 251 lbs...and less that five hours after my surgery, I was up and walking 3 times around the halls of the hospital...it shocked Dr. Rumsey...but I kept telling myself, it is going to get better, because the hardest part is behind me now...

Of course, on that first walk, I was fighting nausia and dizziness beyond imagine.

The morning following my surgery Dr. Rumsey congratulated me for walking so much so soon, and said that he needed to apologize for thinking I was in such poor physical contition...as I was in much better condition that he thought.

I was only in the hospital 2 1/2 days...and had my pre-op visit 6 days after the surgery, then I was release to return to Bakersfield, California where I lived at the time.

Dr. Rumsey and his staff were terific after my surgery...and even before my surgery...it was just having to loose that 20 lbs that seemed to hard, but Dr. Rumsey was just worried about having complications during the surgery...

Even this long after my surgery, I still have some foods that are allowed which cause quite a bit of havic with me...such as chicken, fish, and spinich along with are few other vegitables of that group.

Eight months after my surgery I decided to move to Nebraska where my oldest daughter lives, thought I have my own apartment.

I just learned last month that the Pacific Baratric Group does this surgery in Grand Island, Nebraska...as of March 2004.
I've become sort of acquainted with their first patient at Grand Island.

I AM A RETIRED NURSE HERE IN SAN DIEGO SO I ALREADY WAS FAMILIAR WITH DR. ZORN. WE WOULD REFER OUR PATIENTS TO HIM BECAUSE OF HIS EXCELLENT REPUTATION AS A SURGEON. SO OF COURSE I CHOSE HIM AS MY SURGEON. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY INFORMATIVE AND TOOK TIME TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. HIS STAFF IS ORGANIZED AND INFORMATIVE. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS ABOUT THEIR AFTERCARE PROGRAM. I HAVE BEEN INSTRUCTED ALL ALONG AND FELT COMFORTABLE WITH HOW TO CARRY THEM OUT.I WAS INFORMED OF THE RISKS AT THE ORIENTATION AND AGAIN AT MY PRE-OP APPT. OVER ALL I FEEL DR. ZORN AND HIS ASSOCIATES ARE EXCELLENT BARIATRIC SURGEONS AND WOULD RECOMMEND THEM.I FEEL AS A NURSE THATCOMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER GO HAND IN HAND. THE PATIENT NEEDS TO FEEL AT EASE WITH THE PHYSICIAN BECAUSE YOU ARE EXTREMELY VULNERABLE, ALMOST CHILDLIKE WHEN YOU ARE HELPLESS LAYING IN THAT BE.ON ANOTHER NOTE, I WANT TO SAY THAT I AM A PATIENT OF KAISER. BECAUSE KAISER HAS NO SURGEONS YET TRAINED TO PERFORM THIS SURGERY, THEY REFERRED ME OUT TO MY DOCTOR OF CHOICE. KAISER HERE IN SAN DIEGO HAS AN EXCELLENT PROGRAM FOR PREPARING THEIR PATIENTS FOR THIS SURGERY. MY PREP TIME TOOK ALMOST A YEAR BUT I FEEL IT WAS WORTH IT. MY GREAT RESULTS ARE A TESTIMONY. I FIRST HAD TO ATTEND KAISERS ORIENTATION AND THEN BE EVAL'D BY THEIR PSYCH. DOC. AND THEN I WAS REQUIRED TO ATTEND CLASSES FOR 6 MONTHS ONCE A WEEK. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS WAS CRAZY BUT THEN I WAS GIVEN INVALUABLE INFORMATION TO HELP ME UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS GOING TO DO. I WAS ALSO REQUIRED TO LOSE 10% OF THE WEIGHT I NEEDED TO LOSE. THIS WAS HARD FOR MOST PEOPLE BUT WE HAD 6 MONTHS TO DO IT. I AM A FIRM BELIEVER THAT THIS PREPARATION MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE IN THE PATIENT'S SUCCESS.

Dr. Zorn impressed me on our first appointment, he was attentive and took the time to answer all my questions. The office staff was very pleasent. Pacific Bariatric has a program that includes pre and post-op care. I do wish I would have seen him more than just once. But my main reason for going to this office is that they have great stats for this surgery. I was glad that he was nice and did not make me feel like a second class citizen. He also strikes me as very conservative in aftercare.

My first impression was that he is a kind generous person who took the time it takes. He never seemed to rush .. I have an appt with him in mid Nov 04

He was professional. I was, however, disappointed with his bedside manner in the hospital. I was in tremendous pain due to a battle with sciatica and I had to basically "ride it out."

Kind of rushed

He is very nice. I felt comfortable with him. He answered all my questions. He was very clear and informative about everything.

I feel very confident that he will take very good care of me during & after surgery.

He is with Pacific Bariatric. They are very demanding regarding pre-op & post op procedures. I have learned so much from them.

Dr. Rumsey is absolutely wonderful. I was so impressed with his kindness and bedside manner that I believe I made the right choice.
It hasn't changed.

Very pleasant.

I really could not say anything bad.

He is very serious about his clinic and the continued success of his patients.
It is mandatory.

Yes.

Honestly and without sugar coating.

***** 5 Star

Great bedside manner and it appears he has a great record in regards to successful surgeries.

I liked him at the lecture I attended. WHile clearly laying out the risks and the requirements, he was very positive.

I went to San Diego from the SF Bay area on 10/22 to meet with him individually and was again impressed. I have a couple of other health isssues and he was thourough and made sur to write himself notes to be sure he would remember the particulars later.

He is very complete in telling you what you should be doing and what you will need to do at various points along the way and explains why they have incorporated these "rules". He is not overbearing as another Dr. I met with was and he tells you how PBS's success rates have increased after these protocols have been implemented.

Overall I've only met him briefly and thus far nothing has been disappointing.
