He is a very easy going person and makes you feel very comfortable !!! The more I got to know him the more comfortable I felt and safe about him doing my surgery !! The office staff is very friendly and helpful especially Tanya his assistant ! I don't have anything bad to say about my surgeon ! Don't be nervous around him he's a very honest trust worthy surgeon .He is very on top of your care and wants to make sure you realize that you need to keep your post-op appontments its very important to follow up with your surgeon ! Before you have your surgery he makes sure you are very aware of the risks of this surgery !!! I give my surgeon a 10 he's the best !!!!

My first impression of Dr. Bessler was that I thought he wasn't a doctor with a lot of time to spend w/me. My family went w/me the morning I met him. They had many questions for him and I did too; but he only wanted to hear from me. That was the only negative comment I had. Other than that he answered all my concerns very clearly.
The office staff was and still is 100%. They led me through the path towards surgery w/o a hitch.
What I liked least was I only saw him twice, the preop visit and once the following A.M. pastop at my bed side.
During my hospital stay I was cared for by a PA named Janice who was just wonderful and by very caring nurses.
Janice and the nurses explained everything I went through and why the walking I did so often was necessary.
I followed the aftercare as explained to me and my family w/o difficulty; and every day it got a little easier and less painful for me.
The risk of the surgery I had was explained to me in detail, and I was still determined to make this journey.
I'd rate Dr. Bessler, his staff and my hospital care a resounding 100%.
I'd say that it's best to have a good bedside manner and surgical competence too.

My first impression was that he was younger than I thought he would be. I don't know if he realized how nervous I was. He did answer all my questions and encouraged me to ask questions. He explained in detail the procedure and the risks. He saw me before the surgery and was very reassuring. He personally spoke to my family after the surgery. He could have had a resident talk to them but he did it personally. I appreciated it greately. My follow up visits were somewhat rushed but the entire experience was positive and perfect.

My first impression of Dr. Bessler - NOT warm and fuzzy!!! I had GBP 4/02 and came to realize there wasn't anyone better. Careful, thorough and caring - not only him, but his super staff - nutritionist, NP, etc. Support group on line can't be beat. Each and every day other Bessler pts share their lives and several times a year we get together in all areas of NY & NJ. Also provided by Dr. Bessler's staff is a monthly support meeting. As an RN I did much research on this procedure and those performing it and I KNOW I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION. I truly would rate Dr. B and his staff as A+. They must have done something right. I went from 210 lbs to 97 and my weight is steady and has been for almost a year. I am 5' tall so this is a great weight for me. I went from a size 22 to a 2. Life is SO GOOD and I believe that Dr. Bessler and his staff made it possible.
Warm and fuzzy is good for a teddy bear - competence saves lives and Dr. Marc Bessler is one of the BEST!!!!!

He's warm but not too warm. He does his job and does it well.

He's very professional and courteous and is very dedicated to his patients and their well being.
An amazing group of people who know their stuff.
Nothing - I was very impressed since day one

If you want the job done right go see him. He was the first MD in the NY area to perform the gastric bypass.
Aftercare is as important as pre-op care.
He has a great aftercare program as well as a very well monitored website for all his patients as well as the other doctor's in his practice. We have 2 support meetings per month in 2 different locations.

I was very well informed before the surgery.
On a scale of 1-10 where 1 is very bad Dr. Bessler is a 10.

A good doctor not only has surgical competence but also a great bedside manner. Dr. Bessler is there for us before, during and after surgery. He even attends functions we have and boogies down with us. Like I said, he really cares.

I found a new surgeon, thanks to this site. He is excellent! Dr. Silva is very friendly, well spoken and knew his stuff. I met him at his other 'office' in Eastchester, he saw me right away, so no complaints. Dr. Silva's office staff handled all the appointments, very convient, I would say within a week I had all the appointments. I had already seen a Phycologist, and had the Endoscopy from my previous surgeon, so I need the Ultra sound and Heart EKG test. I will tell you that Ultrasound hurt! I guess I'm a wimp, but she really dug deep to look at my gallbladder. So far I have two left, the pulmonary and nutritionist. I hope I wont have to wait long for a surgery date. I think I will go with St. Josephs in Yonkers, I've heard good reviews about it. I'll keep you posted.

Dr. Silva is friendly, professional, and is able to help with any fears I may have had. On the day of surgery he spoke with myself and my family beforehand to relieve the stress. In recovery he was there as well, and came to see me in the evening of the surgery to see how I was doing. He and his staff are very supportive. Tonya in his office is great. My preop screening tests went smooth from schedule to completion. Postop went just as well. I am 9 days postop today, and am very happy that I had the band placed. I would recommend Dr. Silva to anyone who is considering this procedure (or any other surgical procedure). Dr. Silva is not only my surgeon, but my Dad's as well. Also, I work in the medical field and chose Dr. Silva from many other surgeon's that I know from the workplace. As far as I am concerned, he is the one to go with.

Dr. Bessler is cool calm, collective, I asked him several questions, and he answered me honestly. Telling how risky surgery can be. Etc, that I am a great candidate for the surgery. His staffs are wonderful. I have to give it to Lorraine and Nancy.

UPDATE
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for me.... and especially being able to make the change in the operating room being that I made a last minute change from (OPEN) to (LAPAROSCOPIC). Dr. Bessler and Dr. John Lew and all the staff were wonderful, they make sure that you are being taking care of, and not just left unattended like some stories I read about peoples stay in the hospital. They all make their rounds to see how well you are doing. Not only was his staff great. The nurses were awesome too Monique, Saddias, Kathy, and Beverly all from seven south. Thank you and May the Lord blesses all to continue to be the person that you are. I would truly refer anyone who is looking to have the surgery and is in need of a good surgeon would truly recommend them to Dr. Bessler and his staff.

I met with Dr. Silva on Thursday, October 17, 2003. He was very pleasant and very informative. His office staff is excellent, Tanya made all the appointments right after I met with Dr.Silva for my clearances. I'm so excited and can't wait to finally begin my new life on the other side.

Dr. Silva is a wonderful, caring, extremely competant, and friendly doctor/surgeon. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of the gallbladder/lap-band questions/issues that I have had. Most of all, he is a great listener, and very attentive to his patients-as soon as I walked into his office, he made me comfortable and happy that I chose him for my surgeries. When I had my gallbladder taken out, Dr. Silva took wonderful care of me!!!
