Mount Sinai Hospital Bariatric Center
I liked Dr Kini right from the start. He is direct, informative, and extremely pleasant. As I got to know him better, the more impressed I became. The Team consists of several people. Fonda, the Tech is a wonderful, sweet person who always returned phone calls, explained things, and gave me tons of support. She was my initial contact & my good feelings about the office were because of her. I then met Amy the nutritionist, also warm and caring, who was very informative, & at times forgiving.
Jennifer, the RNP, even more knowledgeable, and available. Everyone I called, always called me back. No question was too small, and none went unanswered. The only thing I didn't like was not getting to spend more time with Dr Kini himself for aftercare, but I realize that could be handled by the team. Future patients should be aware that he is a talented, cautious surgeon who takes his work very seriously, and expects his patients to do the same. He is kind & warm.( and easy on the eyes too I might add) Aftercare is scheduled and very important. Dr Kini discussed the risk of surgery with my husbnd & I on our very first visit.
Dr Kini rates a 10 in both surgical competence and Bedside Manner! I am completely satisfied with my choice of Surgeon.
I made a wonderful choice by choosing Dr. Kini because he is very knowledgable in wls and his team is great! When I had my consultation with him, I like they way that he handled it because he first started off with at least 2 to 3 patients and he's basically going over the different types of surgery and answering questions we may have. Afterwards Jennifer Nalle and himself switch up and speak to patients individually to discuss which surgery is right for them along with risk and possible complications during and after surgery. Everyone is friendly and on the day of surgery, I was extremely nervous and scared because I went in alone but his surgery team was excellent. The medical assistants kept me occupied while the anesthia (sp?) prep me for surgery. Discussion of aftercare and questions I had after surgery were answered by himself or Jennifer Nalle NP and my booklets I was given before surgery were also helpful. I would recommend him to anyone that is in New York and if I had to do it again I would definitely choose Dr. Kini.
Dr. Kini is a great surgeon. He is very professional and caring. The staff at his office is wonderful. I had my consult with him in May and had my surgery in August. I never had a problem scheduling an appointment with him and still don't. Dr. Kini came to see me everyday that I was in the hospital after my surgery. I feel great and have not had any complications. I highly recommend Dr. Kini to anyone, you won't be disappointed.
I had originally wanted Dr Herron at Mt Sini. He is out of my network and since Mt Sini seemed to very reputable I chose his assosiate Dr Kini who is in my network. The only think I was nervous about was "clicking" with either of them.
I met with Dr Kini and the team at Mt Sini and they are wonderful!! Dr Kini was so patient and kind and explained everything so wonderfully. He made me relax and feel at ease. I completely trust him. He answered all of my questions without hesitation and was pleased I had questions to ask. He explained every step from start to finish. He explained why the evaluations from other drs are needed. He is very thourough. Very organized. His intelligence and bedside manner are both EXCELLENT. I was very happy!!
I also had the chance to speak with Mr Booker the insurance specialist and he made me feel very comfortable like I was talking to a friend. He seems like he will really help me if I have a problem with my insurance. He saw no problems but understood my concerns.
I cannot say anything I didn't like.
They are all wonderful and I am very happy with my decision!! !
I can't say enough gret things about my Dr. ( Inabnet)even though I haven't seen him in 5 years. I live 3 Hours away frm NYC and so after my initial year of surgery and weight loss success, I was great and able to be monitered by my family Dr. in N.E. PA where I reside. Going into the possability of this life changing surgery is both terrifying and exciting. New hope, a life regained and yet the fear of failure, struggle, even death. Having a Doctor with a GREAT bedside manner is just as important as having a surgeon with exceptional qualifications and the benefits of alot of experience. I can assure you Dr. Inabnet has BOTH. This is a journey that takes time, effort and lots of research. I "interviewed" several Doctors in my area who insisted a Banding would be just perfect for me. I challenged them that a Roux en Y was a much better choice with much better published results, they both said they would be happy to do that choice, however be prepared to do alot of VOMITING. From everything I had researched, what these Doctors told me was exactly OPPOSITE of what research shows. Many band proceedures leave patients only able to eat soft high carb diets resulting in little or no weight loss, where as a bypass has great success and following your Doctors advice, little or no side effects(not to mention, great results in comparison to the outdated banding proceedure). I in no way want to promote one proceedure over another, however certain proceedures have been improved upon and with wonderful results, and unfortunately my area was still behind the times. My EXTENSIVE research took me to Mt. Sinai. Formost in the roux en y proceedure was the head of the bariatric team Dr.Michael Gagner, but adding experience AND BEDSIDE MANNER was Dr. Barry Inabnet. From the first appointment, I knew he was the Dr. for me. I read on other patient testemonials that we all are soothed by his "SOFT SPOKEN MANNER" and I absoluteley agree. He is compassionate and kind, speaks in our "unmedical textbook language" so we understand everything. He knew about my children, family, work, and life in general because he cared, not because I was his 3 O'Clock patient. I wish I could give you some negatives to my experience to balance all the posatives, but they all have nothing to do with Dr, Inabnet. They would be silly things like parking, visitng times, etc. , all mute because he is nolonger at Mt. Sinai and now at New York Prespeterian. Coming from a distance, I wouldn't change a thing.
My first impression of Dr. Kini was good he took time with me to discuss my weight my failed diet attempts to what type of surgery would work best for me. He is warm, friendly and patient.
His office staff is great. I had a chance of meetinf Vonda who is an exceptional person and i also had the chance to meet Jennifer who tries to be there for you whenever you have a question.
Future patients should know they are putting their health in some of the most caring and friendliest people.
As we all know aftercare is most important so it's up to all of us considering this operation to keep on top of it our docs and their staff can only do but so much.
Dr. Kini listen to me first and ask me what type of surgery did i have in mind and when i told him he honestly let me know what type for my weight would work for me so being that he is the doctor he knows best.
So to Dr. Kini and his staff I send you all the biggest hugs and appreciation for being so patient and caring.
When I first met Dr. Kini what I liked was his confidence and smile. what really impressed me was over time I started to gain weight comming up to my surgery date and he explained to me how my weight gain could cause my surgery to be open, a week before he told me to lose 10 pounds and whta was incredible was, I lost 13 pounds eating fish and fruit . But overall he did a great job and it wasn't a surgery were I was open. the final result was really nice. What I really liked was how he walked me through the whole entire surgery and it definately made a difference.
First impression was great. Dr. Kini is very personable and caring. I love his staff!
After surgery comments:
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Kini and his staff. I am 5 days post op now and they have been great to respond to my calls. Amy, the nutritionist called today just to check up with me and see how I was doing. They are just wonderful!
Lets see. Dr. Herron is god to me. My first impression of him was he is like a long lost friend. I felt that I could talk to him on a friendly basis. I mean I was so relaxed and understood everything he was telling me because his information was in plain terms. He was not in any type of hurry. I had my surgery on Feb 28 2003. My impression of Dr. Herron has never changed I have hit some bumps in the road and have contacted him weather it be necessary or not and he has always pointed me in the right direction and been very caring. I started with one staff of Irene and Diana Gee and then went to a new office in New Hyde Park and the staff there was alright, but I really like Diana GEE. I have not meet any of the staff in person at his current office but have contacted Amy the nutritionist and Jenifer the NP and they have both been awesome. Amy is the BEST. The aftercare with Dr. Herron is incredible. If you need anything he is there by phone or email for me because I live 6 hrs. away. I rate Dr. Herron above all charts on a scale 1-10 he is a 20 in my book. He is like god of surgery to me. There has never been a better surgeon overall in bedside manner knowledge and aftercare. Thank you Dr. Herron for saving my life from my me and my kids who are 6 and 3.
Dr. Herron was very pleasant and patient. He took time to answer all of my questions and didn't at any time seem to be in a rush to see other patients.
His staff is very friendly.
My only complaint is that I was not informed that they were out of my network until I was partially through my first visit, at which time the financial person came in to explain that the visit would cost me $300, part of my plan deductable.
