Midwest Bariatric Solutions Bariatric Center

My first impression of Dr. Wasco was he talked way too fast for me.
Now that I am 10 weeks post-op, and have had time to get to know him, I would say that he seems to be one of the most caring & compassionate surgeons I have ever met. He seems to truly care about the well being of his patients. Not just before surgery, but most importantly, after. He really listens.
What really impresses me is his passion for what he does. This is what made me feel utterly confident in him. This passion translated into knowledge.
What a guy....I did, and would, trust him with my life!!!!!!!

Well I went to counciltation and met with Doctor Georgen and Doctor Wasco yesterday. I was very impressed on how these two men work together, they do all the surgeries together.
I met them with five other women. Doctor Georgen gave us the presentation on how the surgery works and what procedure they use, he explines the risks and what they do to avoid all risks, he explained the benifits of having the surgery, it was all very informational,Even though it was everything I read in a book on weight loss surgery.
The staff were very kind and explained what was planned for the time we were there, very friendly.
There was not one thing I was unhappy about with staff or Doctors..
I went away feeling pretty good, talked about my insurance not covering surgery, but they told us that they send out a real good letter to get approval, I felt a little more at ease because the staff had mentioned to me when I first came into the office. I felt so comfortable.

Dr. Georgen was very blunt and didnt beat around the bush whatsoever! I liked that. He definitely stressed the risks and emphasized what a huge life decision this is, that its not something to take lightly. He answered all of my questions... and said he felt like he was taking his SAT's all over again. LOL Hes right, though, I did have 3 pages of questions for him.
His staff wasnt the friendliest, and I waited way too long to see him, but, it was worth the wait. At times I did feel like he was rushing me. I was the last appointment of the day, and an hour and fifteen minutes late at that. I can understand why hed want to get out of there after such a long day, but, he should maybe set up his appointments better, allow more time for his bariatric patients.
Anyway, theyre scheduling my pre-op tests as soon as possible. He decided to waive the psyche evaluation in my case. Not sure why, but, he must have thought I had my head screwed on the right way. LOL He also decided to make me see a hemotologist because I had a blood disorder when I was younger. Cant be safe enough, he said. He stressed how important it is for him to check everything beforehand, so that there arent any surprises during the surgery. One thing I didnt know is that there is another surgeon with him in the operating room. They each take one part of the surgery... him on the stomach and the other on the intestine, or vise versa. That way you get in and out faster, less time under anestesia, plus two sets of eyes watching for trouble. Thats a good thing!
Im not sure about the aftercare, but, I do know he keeps a close eye on you for months to come.
Overall, I liked him and he seems like a very down to earth person who genuinely cares.
***UPDATE!!*** The more I see Dr. Georgen, the more I like him! He is so much like you and me. He gets goofier and more mellow with every visit. Hes a very busy man, but, he keeps you on your toes, and is genuinely worried about our progress. I love him for that. Some surgeons do their part by doing the surgery, then dont care whats going on after. He is truly concerned and lets you know it. He also shows emotion, happiness when he sees the weight is coming off... concern when something isnt right. Hes great! I cant say enough about him. Overall... his surgical talents and bedside manners are excellent!

I really like Dr. Georgen. He is very down to earth and someone that you can talk to. He is a very competent surgeon and has done amazing things for me. He answers all of your questions and makes sure you understand how serious of a surgery the rny is. The staff is very friendly and I feel I can talk to them also. I wish he did have an aftercare program, but other than that I am very satisfied and would recommend him to anyone wanting this surgery.

Dr. Georgen in Neenah, WI. I liked him when I first met him and he has taken very good care of me. He has been able to answer any questions that I may have and always gives me a good reason for anything he asks me to do. His staff has been both courteous and helpful in getting my insurance approval. He does not currently have a structured aftercare program. My only complaint would be that I felt he sent me back to work too soon (2-1/2 weeks after open rny) but I survived so he must have been right.
