I had made my appointment for gastric sleeve just the week before Dr. Aceves died so tragically in a plane crash. I did not cancel the appointment because I knew that the Mexicali Bariatric Center would bring in the most qualified doctor available to take his place. Dr. Wilhelmy was my 'knight in shining armor' who came in and took care of me without my changing any appointments or arrangements. Dr. Wilhelmy was so kind and gracious to me, visiting me every day, explaining everything I asked about, and I am very grateful for his surgical skills and my successful surgery.

Once I decided that the DS was the best surgery for me, it was not difficult to decide who would do my surgery. I chose Dr. Aceves and Dr. Ungson for my DS in Mexico. I had both surgeons attending when I had my surgery. Dr Aceves was the main surgeon and Dr. Ungson was there also per my request. I didn't know either surgeon so my family and I figured two are better than one! LOL..Once there I realized I would have been Ok with EITHER of these surgeons as both were wonderful! I had a Lapband in and they removed that and then did my DS. I have had 0 problems and am adjusting to the DS life day by day. 100 Times better than the band for me! I was and still am thrilled with the whole experience and feel very lucky to have had Dr Ungson as a second surgeon when I had my surgery. I really cannot say enough good things about the whole team and my time in Mexicali. The hospital is top notch and the care is unbelievable. Way above and beyond care in the US as sad as that is, the staff were terrific. All were warm and helpful, Dr. Campos, Yolanda, Nina, everyone was helpful and attentive. If you are looking for the best and are self pay like I was then I wouldn't go anywhere else! I plan on going back for my plastic surgery just because they are that good and reasonably priced! Go with the best!

This was the 2nd time I was here, last year as companion with my mom who got her sleeve with Dr. Aceves, now it was my turn. Both my mom and I agreed that the services continue to be the best we have every received. This is a very professional group of people and also very caring and compassionate. We saw doctors 2-3 times a day at least, the rest of the staff is really attentive and helpful too. All our needs were met. I have had no problems at all. This was my first time meeting Dr. Wilhelmy and we were pleasantly surprised by this demeanor. We trusted his skills as a surgeon but were so pleased to find such a kind man too.

Dr. Wilhelmy was awesome. He was a very pleasant and endearing man. He talked to me the day of surgery and was there right after surgery. Everyday, he came in to check on me. He and his team are awesome. I highly recommend them!

I met Ernesto, our driver at the San Diego airport on Friday morning and was taken to Mexicali. The drive from San Diego to Mexicali is beautiful. Upon arrival at the hospital we were met by Yolanda and Carla who started doing all my tests. We were really impresssed ,everything worked like a well oiled machine. I later met with Dr. Campos, who is a bariatric nutritionist and a wls patient himself. After about 3 hours we were taken to Lucene Hotel, very nice place. That evening we went to the pool for a while. I was on a liquid diet so I could not try a margarita but my wife seemed to enjoy it.

The following morning I met Dr Ungson and the entire team of doctors who would be taking care of me. Dr. Beltran his assistant surgeon, Dr Gutierrez anesthesiologist and Dr Lomeli, internal dr. I was really impressed again by their professionalism. You just know that you are in good hands and they know exactly what they are doing. Dr Ungson and Dr. Beltran answered all my questions and explained what was to be done. My band was to be removed and they would do the DS. The x ray done the previous day showed no problems that would throw them off the plan. We were nervous but knew we had the best men for the job.

What can I say about the hospital? After 6 days there it felt like home. If it were not for the hospital bed that was not the most comfortable, I would have stayed there for another week! Nurses were very attentive and helpful, language was not a problem at all. I saw Dr Ungson a couple more times but most of my follow up, was done Dr. Beltran and Dr. Campos, I saw them 3-4 times a day. I passed the 3 leak tests with flying colors and focused on recovering the rest of the week. I followed instructions to the T , did my breathing exercises, walked constantly and did everything on my part to ensure proper healing.

I have been home for 2 weeks and everything is perfect. Communication has been excellent, I had en email from Gabby waiting for me when I got home, my questions have been answered promptly each and every time.

Iam 55 years old and a pediatrician. Dr Wilhelmy did my sleeve surgery 1 year and 8 months ago. I have had excellent results without any complications and with the expected weight loss! I choose Dr Wilhelmy because of this long time experience in weight loss surgery and recommendations from colleagues and friends that had surgery with him; including my sister who also had the surgery with him. Do not hesitate in having surgery with such a competent and kind surgeon. I highly recommend Dr. Wilhelmy!

I had surgery a month and a half ago and I have lost 26 lbs. He is surgeon that speaks directly and gives you confidence. Increidible service from beginning to end. I had gastric sleeve surgery with Dr Rodolfo Wilhelmy june 2013 and I have lost 120 lbs in a year ! I couldn't be happier with my results. The care I recieved while there at Almater hospital is the best I have ever had. I now go to Almater for all my medical needs and my family's too. Dr Wilhelmy is compassionate and competent. I recommend him to everyone that asks how I lost so much weight!
I have gone back for my twice for checkups for my sleeve and have received the same attention I got initially.

My experience with having the gastric sleeve with Dr. Wilhelmy has been excellent! My quality of life has improved greatly as well as my social life and my self esteem.

I had my surgery 5 months ago and I have lost 61 lbs! I feel great! I can eat very small portions and my body has been adjusting to not eating the huge amounts of food I was eating before surgery which has made my life better.

I infinitely thank Dr. Wilhelmy for his care and continued guidance . I highly recommend him to anyone needing sugery. If you need to have surgery who better to have it with than someone as experienced as Dr. Wilhelmy.
