I met with Dr.Lee on 1/25/08 and she was very good, explained in detail,is very sympathetic toward's her patient's feeling's and decision to go through with WLS. I feel very good about her,and cant wait to get this surgery done and over with! I'm ready for a new me in 08'.rnI had my surgery and she took good care of me post-op, she is ultra-conservative in her approach and really does care about her patient's. She gave me her cell# to call her daily until I see her for my early post-op visit.
I met my surgeon for an initial consult. I felt that he was very professional but approachable. His assistant was very nice. She seemed knowledgeable . I felt comfortable and peaceful when I left the Drs office. He addressed the Risks of surgery as expected. Overall I would recommend his practice to others.
I met with Dr. Brody and the NP on 12/28/07. I was told that I would be an excellent canidate for lap-band, gastric bypass was too invasive and never an option for me. Dr. Brody was quick and to the point. After a few minutes, I began to like him. What I don't particularly care for is that the NP will do the fills not Dr. Brody, that concerns me. However, I look forward to a surgery date, I was told that I should know something in the next week or two. I do not look forward to the Optifast, but I will do it.

My first impression of Dr. Brody was great. I felt that he was very intelligent and he had all of the answers to my questions. He advised me that I was a great candidate for the procedure and that following insurance approval he would see me in the operating room. The surgery went very well and he came to see me in my room the following morning. A couple of days following the surgery, I was concerned about one of the incision sites so I called his office. Dr. Brody personally returned my call and told me how to handle it. His entire staff is wonderful and the hospital was better than ever. I never have to wait in the waiting room very long when I go for a fill. Dr. Brody is very personable and makes you feel very comfortable. I have referred several people to his office because I am just overjoyed by my experience. I don't think that I could have made a better choice for a surgeon.

Dr. Juliette Lee is an attractive young woman that takes her role as a medical doctor seriously. She was very informative on my first visit with her and was also willing to listen to my concerns and address them with clarity. The staff was impressive as well. Her assistant took time to come by to say hello to me. Overall, on a scale from 1-5, I would rate my introduction to Dr. Lee and her staff a 5 (5, of course being the highest).rnrnDr. Lee did inquire if I had any questions that I was dying to ask her (dying being the operative word) which threw me a bitrn. . .we'll have none of that! LOL
My first meeting with Dr. Brody, I knew I was not going to use any other doctor. His knowledge of the Lap-Band and demeanor were incredible. He knows everything there is to know about this surgery and everything he told me would happen has. He is quite strict on his pre-op requirements and tells you that if you do not follow the instructions, when he gones in to do the surgery and you have not followed the instructions you will wake up without the lapband. Other than being down to earth, he take lots of pride on work and knowledge. There was nothing that I did not like about him and I have referred several friends to him. rnrnOverall, I give him a million thumbs up. His surgical competence and bedside manner say everything about him and the reason why he is successful
Dr. Lin is very knowledgeable and very highly regarded by Kaiser. I have had only an initial consultation with him (on 05/02/07), with my surgery date pending results of additional tests. My personal impression of this initial consult was less than positive. He sent in a very skinny, very inexperienced medical student to do the initial screening interview. When Dr. Lin finally arrived (1 hour later), he was a bit abrupt and did not want to be interrupted with questions while he was talking with me. He did, however, compliment me on knowing as much as I did about the RNY surgery already (from my own extensive research) when I came in for the consult. His office staff and clinical RN were very kind and very helpful, both during the visit and afterwards in phone calls. I will put more here after the surgery.rnrnUpdate following 6-26-07 LRNY: Dr. Lin is the BOMB! I was incredibly impressed with all of his knowledge, and the fact that he visited with me in pre-op and answered additional questions. He also personally checked on me during the 3-day hospital visit at least twice per day (with residents, as this was a teaching hospital), but spent 15 minutes with me each time. I have only met with his NP since the surgery, but she is as knowledgeable as Dr. Lin is.
I liked Dr.Lee as soon as I met her. She was up front on my condition, and reccommended that I speak with my PCP immediately and have her backing. rnrnMy impression of her hasn't changed over time and I like her still.rnrnI would describe her office staff as being just as good as her. They are polite and have a good manner to them.rnrnI didn't find it bothersome that she had her students with her, we as some people would have found that to like least about them. But it's a teaching hospital so I expected it, the students have to learn from someone.rnrnAs for future patients, learn as much as you can about what you are expecting from her, and let her know what you expect.rnrnShe emphasizes after care and support groups. She actual wants you to attend them before and after the surgery. She WON'T do your surgery unless you have attended the pre-op support meeting.rnrnShe told me the risks, some that I knew of, and some that I didn't know of.rnrnOverall I would give her a 8 out of 10 so far since I haven't had my surgery yet.rnrnAs for surgical competence and bedside manner, these are both great to me. I want these in addition to the aftercare in my surgeon.rnrnAs for negative things, I didn't have any expect the wait to get an appointment with her. Since she is very busy with consults, surgeries, and teaching I could understand it. I also didn't like the criticism of my diet then when I met with her, but understood what I was doing wrong when she pointed it out. So that has come to be a positive.
I love Dr. Brody he is so genuine and really cares about his patients. He even called me the day after surgery and the week after to check up on me and ask how I was doing. His nurses are amazing and always so helpful. I would recommend him 100% to anyone who is considering his services. The only one small thing is his office staff isn't always so pleasant on the phone, but then again, they are the ones poing and prodding me so it's a small thing to overlook for such good care from the doctor and nurses.
