Johnson City Medical Center Bariatric Center
My first impression was that he was a serious surgeon but not intimidating (as some doctors can be.)He is kind and polite but not big on conversation. I wouldn't be either if I was as busy as he is. He answered every question I through at him though. His staff then and now have always been kind and helpful to me even though they are all clearly busy beyond belief. The only thing I can think to advise future patients about is the very fact that he is so good and the only surgeon currently doing lap in this region that you will sit in a sardine-like packed office for longer than you often wish. But if you really want the best around and need some surgery, take yourself a book and get over it because it is worth it. He has been excellent with aftercare. I was completely informed before and after surgery of every possible risk and side-effect. He has a complete program from beginning to end. I found him extremely competent and kind and would recommend him to anyone.
10-29-02 First consultation with Dr. Watson. I immediately liked him and his staff. They are good, experienced, and competent people.
I was trying to make an appoinment with Dr. Scott Watson, but when I called the first time they asked me to call the Insurance and make sure that they didn't have an exclusion on my policy. I wasn't very happy the way the handle this matter they should have helped me but I went ahead and called the insurance company anyway and I found out that they don't have an exclusion. So, I called back and someone answer the phone and told me to call back later because they were out to lunch AHHGH!! I couldn't call that same day again so I called the next day (at an earlier time) and the same person answered again and told me they were out to lunch to call back in two hours (who the hell take 2 hour lunch anyway?) So, I gave up and I called Dr. Lockett's office and they were also at lunch but instead this person jotted down my number and the reason I was calling for so now I am just waiting for them to call me back (now this is the way to handle phone calls). Well, I didn't receive a call back from Dr. Lockett's office but instead I called them and they told me that the next appointment that they have wasn't until next September 2003 and I would probably end up having the surgery maybe on 2004 (AGGHHH!) So, I called Dr. Watson office again and I finally got in touch and now my appointment is set up for February 18, 2003 (a lot closer than Sep.)
My first impression of Dr. Watson was that he scheduled too many patients at one time. I had to wait for 2 hours to see him. He seemed nice enough and gave me information to read on this surgery. He did not act like this surgery was a very big deal at all. His office staff was very busy but kind and professional. What I liked least about Dr. Watson was that he seemed too nonchalant about the whole procedure. He does have a very structured aftercare program through the dieticians at Johnson City Medical Center. According to before surgery care I would rate him about a 7. I will rate again after surgery.
Dr. Watson is great he makes you feel like a normal person. He tells you what to expect and the good ,bad and possible things that could happen.
His staff is also great very helpful .i feel that Dr. watson is a very honest person.
Dr. Watson seems to be a very personable, understanding, caring surgeon. I liked the fact that he LISTENED to ME. He understood my concerns and addressed them. During the initial consult his assistant gives you a piece of paper with a yahoogroup online support group that Dr. W. wants his patients to join. They also have a monthly support group. While I was waiting in his office I met several of his WLS post patients. All of them had only good things to say about him! The only thing that I can say that I didn't like was the wait for my appt. My appt time was 3:30 and I didn't get to see him until almost 6. I won't complain tho because I'm very thankful to have gotten such a fast appointment and met such a caring surgeon.
I was on the waiting list for Dr Glen Birkitt. I was told it would be as much as an 8 month wait. Several on here told me about Dr Watson. I am so glad that they did. He does Lap surgery.YIPEE
They don't come any better than Dr Watson.
He was very kind, and gentle, and willing to take the time to answer any questions I had. After looking over the info, and determining that I was a good candidate for surgery, he seemed willing to make it happen no matter what.
The office staff at Dr. Watson's office is absolutely fantastic. Anytime I had a question, I called up and they gave me the answer. They gave me help and ideas of things I could do to speed things along, and were just great!!
The only thing I can think of to say that I like least about Watson's office is that there is usually a pretty long to wait to get in and to see the doctor. However, it is because he is such a great physician that he is so popular, and always busy. I think this just goes to show how good he is, that everyone wants to use him.
He makes you take a test to be sure that you know what you are doing, that you understand the risks, and that you understand what to do after surgery.
Dr Watson is a very nice , caring person. We went over everything about the suregery and he answered all of my questions. He also gave me some important information. The office staff was a very busy but help with any questions that I had.The thing I liked the most was his kindness and understanding. He did explain the risk of the surgery and I asked of his patients complication and death rate he said none of his patients have dies or had any serious complications.
