Jeffrey Holloway, M.D. Bariatrics Bariatric Center

Dr. Holloway is awsome! The staff in his office
is Great and so very helpful. I actualy enjoy go
ing to my appoints @ his office. I especially Love Dot his Nurse. She knows how to my you feel comfortable and better about yourself! Dot is just WONDERFUL!!!! Dr.Holloway saved my life and my happiness. I
will give my 100% to this life time change.

Dr. Holloway was very kind and considerate. He explained everything to me about gastric banding. He has always been encouraging through the whole weight loss process. The office staff is great. They are wonderful working through all the insurance hoops. There wasn't anything I didn't like. For anyone who is considering bariatric surgery, Dr. Holloway is a caring and skillful surgeon. He also has the experience and the dedication to bariatric patients. He tells each of his patients several times before, during and after surgery how important it is for followup. He has support groups in place for ongoing support. I run the Scottsbluff support group. He did state risks of both procedures he does. He also gives written materials for information stating the risks of surgery. I would rate Dr. Holloway a great surgeon. I am a nurse and I think both surgical competence and bedside manner are equally important. Dr.Holloway does a great job at both. The only thing I wish was better was there was no support group when I had my surgery. There was no one I could talk to who had the surgery.

Dr. Holloway was very thorough and complete in describing what was going to be done. His office staff have been very supportive in helping with the insurance and afterwards with questions or problems that would arise. Their is one nurse in particular who had the surgery and she always gave information and advice that came from her experience. She would also direct us to other sources of information. The follow up is great also.

The following statement is my personal belief and experience and I can not vouch for any other patients experience.
I have never met a Doctor who was as concerned about his patient as Dr. Holloway.
As many patients that he has and that he sees he never forgets your name and chats with you as though you are long lost friends. He is caring, concerned, patient, and very helpful in explaining things and techniques with you. He told me about the risks involved but put it in away that you were not frightened of the surgery but knew there were risks, just like any major surgery. He was very detailed as to how and what the surgery would entail.
His office staff and his office nurse are the best. They return calls fast and they are very concerned about your problem or questions. If they don't know the answer they tell you and they will return to you with the correct answer. I couldn't rate this Doctor and his staff high enough.
The only thing negative I can say about Dr. Holloway is the long waite you have to see him. If you have an appointment at 1:00pm it may be 2 hours before you get in to see him.
As far as to which is better, surgical competence, bedside manner. I would have to say both are very important and when you find both in a Doctor like Doctor Holloway, then you thank Jesus for putting you in touch with the right surgeon.

I saw Dr. Forney at the hospital in Ogalalla, Ne. and I think he was overwhelmed with the turn out. We had a group discussion and then were taken individually for the review. I thought he was very nice, but acted a little too busy to be able to take the time for all my questions and concerns. He was very complete and honest with the information he gave us. The hospital was fairly new and the staff were friendly but were very busy. The drive for us was four and half hours, the hospital that I will have the surgery at is in Scottsbluff and is 7-8 hours away, but is the only place that has done over 200 of the Lap Band procedures. The other doctor is in Omaha and has only done about 10, I decided my body wasn't for practice I wanted someone that knew what they were doing and had done many of this type. I was a little disappointed with the structured aftercare program, there was no definate parameters for an exercise program or counseling. Surgical competence means more to me than bedside manner but being a nurse I know that bedside manner is a big plus when it is meant from the heart. I feel very confident in the doctors I have chosen. I did a lot of research on the surgery and the surgeons before seeing them.

Dr. Holloway was/is completely wonderful. He was very straight forward from the beginning and has been helpful a long the way. His office staff is always very helpful, both in Scottsbluff and those that help him and Dr. Forney (who is also great!) in Ogallala. He is very knowledgeable about this surgery and also has wonderful bedside manner. We have a support group that meets in No. Platte on the first and third Tuesday of every month and he backs that 100% as well. I would and do recommend anyone in this area and farther to look into these Drs. You couldn't ask for better care!!

My first impression of him was comfortable and I liked and trusted him. It stayed the same I trust him completely. The staff was very nice. He takes his time with you and encourages you and says "Well done and keep up the good work"I like him.He is a excelent doc. and would do it all over again. He tells it like it is holds no punches back. From 1 to 10, I rate him a 11.Doc Holloway drives half way to Ogalalla once a month and I drive the other half and this helps patients so we don"t have to drive 3 hours one way/ There is a supportgroup here in North Platte, but haven't gone yet. Both Great....

I was struck right away about how calm and layed back he was. He was very informative and professional and yet did not talk down to me, which is something I can't handle. So I was very comfortable with him. He answered all my questions and drew me pictures of the Banding procedure. Dr Holloway told me up front about the risks of surgery and listed some common complications. He gave me a thick WLS pamphlet that explained several different surgery types so I could read and make an informed decision, but I already knew I wanted Lap Banding. No matter how much your Dr tells you, you should do more research on your own......knowledge is power.
I didn't see him again until surgery day. I had my psych eval and my pre-op testing done and poof...I was in surgery. Dr Holloway was my surgeon but he was assisted by his partner, Dr Forney, who does alot of Banding and stomach bypasses too, so I felt very at ease as I "fell asleep".
His office is very nice and I was treated well by all the staff I came in contact with. But I was only there that one time. I see him here in the town where I live now so that is great. I don't have to drive 2 hrs to see him any more. He wants to see me every month for several months to get my Band adjusted just right. My only complaint is that now he seems to be in quite a hurry when I see him. But that's because he has so many patients to see when he's here. So, knowing that, if he is to be your surgeon, have a list of questions and concerns written down to ask him because otherwise, you blink your eyes and he on to the next one.
Overall, I was very impressed with him as a surgeon and even more impressed with his checking on me constantly in the hospital. However, one day he did not come and a different doctor showed up to check on me. I felt particularly crappy that day and told him so. He looked at my IV and said, "some doctors like to keep you a little dry when you're waiting for the swelling to go down but lets bump up your liquids and see if you feel better." Well, he bumped up my liquids and by the end of the day I felt great. Food for thought.....stay alert! Just my personal opinion from my unique experience.

I had a great first impression, which hasn't changed. His billing girl Dezra is fantastic, she explained the financial part of it, and she worked with my insurance company, which is Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, she also explained the appeals process to me, just in case. But, I was approved on my first try. I felt like a few of the reception girls weren't quite as knowledgeable, and they seemed less willing to work with me as I was from another state as far as scheduling, but I persisted and they scheduled my dietary, anesthesia consults the day prior to surgery. But I also had my pre admission testing done 2 weeks prior at my own hospital and sent all my results ahead, and took copies with me. This expedited the process alot. It was extremely hard to go without fluids for such a long time after surgery, and even after the barium swallow which determined that everything was passing through ok, it took a long time for him to pass the word along to the floor which was very frustrating. but overall, I must say his bedside manner, competence, everything about him was encouraging and excellent. Just get those fluids coming ASAP, because you are so dry, you want to suck on anything for moisture. I felt like their anesthesia department was extremely cautious, and considered the whole picture, and they verified allergy, and past medical history very carefully, i felt well taken care of. Overall I would say the whole experience was excellent, and I would reccomend Dr. HOlloway to anyone. The aftercare for me is a little tough, because I live so far away, I know he has a support group in Scottsbluff.

It was like I already knew him, so friendly and understanding. The only thing that changed was that my impression of him only grew stonger in a most possitive way! The Scottsbluff, Ne office staff is wonderful, very friendly and most helpful even though we are 3 hours away. There's nothing to dislike about Dr. Holloway. That he will go as far as possible to see that a person gets this tool to help an obese person. He really is great about after care and really pushes the support groups even as you are learning about the surgery. And a must after. He explained all the risks. He would get the highest rating possible. Both his bedside manner and surgical competence is great!!
