SURGICAL COMPETENCE
My first visit with Dr. Snow was a very emotional one. I was unsure if my insurance would even consider covering the surgery. I had been denied a referal and the outlook was not promising.
So desperate at that point to have the surgery, I started out crying. Dr Snow was very kind and seemed helpful. As my luck would go my insurance stated that "under no circumstances would they cover me for wls".
My mother then proceded to make arrangements to pay for my surgery. Dr. Snow reduced his fee and I am so very grateful to him for that.
Over all, Dr. Snow is a very skilled and caring doctor. I would reccomend him, his collegues and his great office staff to anyone seeking help with wls.
Dr. Snow is the best surgeon in the entire world. This man has hands sent from GOD and a heart so full of love and compassion for his patients , just talking to him about nothing will make you feel a million times better. I know he has saved my life and given me a new one on top. GOD BLESS DR. SNOW and his wonderful, wonderful, nurse CLAUDIA.
Dr. Snow, was and is wonderful. I was very nervous. He talked to me and asked if I had any questions. Well I came to his office with 2 pages of questions. He answered all of them and told me to do my research, gave me information and told me to contact him when I was ready. I was ready really soon. I contacted his insurance clerk and we prepared the insurance paperwork together, gathered previous physician office notes and sent everything in to the insurance in a short period of time.
Within 6 weeks I received a letter from the insurance company with their approval. I made an appoint to set up my surgery and Dr. Snow's staff was very helpful in arranging my pre-op tests and physical in my home town. Which helped me cut down on the amount of time I have missed from work.
They are a wonderful group of caring, professionals and I'm glad I found them.
Dr. Lamar Snow is the same surgeon that
performed my fathers surgery in June of 1998.
I saw first hand about the surgery/weight loss
as well as the care that this particular surgeon
gave to my father. I was ENORMOUSLY impressed.
As I visited Dr. Snow at the Mobile Infirmary
Medical Center in Mobile Alabama I became
personally acquainted with him through his
care for me. He remembered my father and asked
how he was. I could tell that he was genuinely
interested and cared about how my dad is doing
these few years later.
Dr. Snows office is VERY pleasantly layed out
and decorated. It really feels like you are
sitting in someones living room. As you approach
room #212 on the third floor at the Mobile Infirmary
Medical Center for the first time, you realize that
this beautiful scrolling windowed front office is the
one that you are supposed to be in. Dr. Snow's
staff is very courteous and VERY helpful.
I must say that Dr. Snow is very good at listening
and has a great bedside manner. If you are planning
on using Dr. Snow, I would suggest that you just
go to him and let your questions be answered
as well as letting your dreams come true with
your weight loss.
Dr. Snow has included all of my followup visits
in his initial cost. There are no co-pays for
the followups. He is very strict about not eating
when you are not hungry. He also encourages you
to attend his support group meetings once a month.
Dr. Snow was very up front about the risks with
having this surgery. In a light hearted manner
he smiled and reassured me that the benefits
MUCH outweigh any negative aspects of the surgery
itself.
I would rate Dr. Snow at 90%. I can't give him
a 100% rating because, well, no one is perfect.
*smile*
I can honestly say that Dr. Lamar Snow has a
great surgical competence as well as an equaling
wonderful bedside manner. Both rate at 90% in
my book.
I was very nervous; I had even asked my mom to come with me on my first consultation. When I met his nurse she was very friendly. When Dr. Snow came in I was immediately put to ease as he began to explain the surgery. I was even more impressed with the fact that he was in the room with me for over an hour; never seeming to feel like he was in a hurry even though we could hear that he was being paged over the intercome. I don't doubt that he takes this surgery very seriously but at the same time making you feel very comforatable with your choice. I know the group he is with has a great reputation here in Mobile as great surgeons so therefore I feel I'm in capable hands.
When Dr. Snow first came in the room he was very friendly and spoke to my husband and myself. He sat on the edge of the table and went over the procedure. He asked if we had any questions. He never once made me feel uneasy. He didn't talk about how much I weighed or embarassed me at all. I was very relaxed and at ease to ask any questions I thought of. His office staff were very friendly. He emphasied aftercare and the importance of this. He covered all the risk involved but he also said that being overweight was a higher risk than having the surgery.
Dr Snow is the kind of person who is very blount. At first I didn't know if I was sure I was ready but over the time I have become ready now.Dr Snow staff is the best people and the nices I have meet. There is not nothing I don't like about him.If they don't like a blount doctor they will not like him.DrSnow said after care is really an inportant thing to do.The after care so very inportant because this is when you will lose your weight from.DrSnow said all surgery have risk there owe risk. But to him the open surgery is better then theone Iam going to have.I would rate him on the sacle of 1 to 10 he would be a 10 over all....
I had heard good things about him from others and felt good about our first visit together. It was with a group of about 4 other people considering surgery. He gave us lots of information and plenty of time to ask questions. The office staff is nice. The only complaint I have is that everytime we have been it has been a long wait. I have gotten lots more information about aftercare from the support group. He did fully explain the risks of surgery.
