Dr. R was knowledgeable and thorough during the initial consult. He handed me a band and port to examine and went over expectations and complications. The office staff was also wonderful, with information in concise pamphlets and booklets that covered my questions and some I hadn't thought of yet.

First impression, excellent. He sat down, talked to me like he knew me as a friend, explained all aspects of Lap Band & Bypass surgery, and wanted ME to make an informed decision. He was unbiased in his preference on which surgery I should have. I had actually decided on the bypass, but after his informed and detailed explanation of the Lap Band, I decided on that. Staff was friendly and answered all questions. I would highly recommend him to anyone. He was suggested to me by my physicians assistant (whom I love), she has had the bypass which was done by him, and he was an excellent choice.

From the first time I met Dr R, I thought he was a great guy. He was straight forward about mortality rates and honest about everything that was going on with me. He took great care of me during surgery and has a complete post-op care center set up for me for the rest of my life. Blood work every year, and he served a commitment to me that if I ever had questions or something happen that I could call him or his office at any time and he or someone would be there to support me and give me answers. I've heard great things about him from other patients of his also, he's just an all - around great surgeon with a great personality. Overall I'd rate him a 10 out of 10!

Dr. Rohrscheib explained the procedure well. He answered my and my husband's questions to our satisfaction. I originally wanted the Lap-Band due to lower mortality rate and less time off work, but my insurer (Cigna) does not cover the Lap-Band. I also feel I need the "crutch" of the open RNY to help with weight loss and keeping it off. The office staff is great. I met with the psychologist, the internist and the dietician all in the same day at the Illinois Bariatric Center. One drawback is that the doctor's office is near McDonalds!

My first impression of Dr. Rohrscheib was that he really wanted "Me" to make my decision on which surgery to have, not him. His office staff was very friendly. I don't have any complaints about Dr. R. He acted like he had all the time in the world to answer any questions I had. The other members I met were also very friendly. I met with the Dietician, Dr. Rohrscheib(surgeon's sister), and the Psychologist. They were all very, very friendly. I feel very comfortable in his facilities.

Dr Rohrscheib is unlike any other surgeon I have met with to talk about this surgery. He is the most caring of the 4 surgeons I was fortunate enough to meet!!! He talks with you as if he ginuinely cares about your progress, rather than treating you like an ordinary patient!! His staff is great as well. They are very upfront with what the surgery entailed and are always there to answer any questions you may have. Early in my search to get the bypass surgery, we were having troubles breaking through to the Insurance. Dr. Rohrscheib's staff does all this for you. If you bring all your medical records in and things like that, they take care of all of it!!! Such a relief.

The only bad thing about him is that he repeats things that he has told you, but that is important to ensure that you know that you MUST do those things!!

I would rate Dr. Rohrscheib with an A

I walked in and felt like a part of the family. I had met Dr. Rohrscheib at a support group meeting when I was "just checking things out" and was immediatley impressed with his honest, simple, and thoughtful answers. At the first appointment, I felt like I finally met a group of medical professionals who understood me and my disease and that I wasn't just a "waste of time" or someone that was "too far gone" to be helped. All through my approval ordeal (it was not fun, simple or easy!!) The whold staff was very honest, upfront and helpful. They let me know right away that the approval process was like the surgery-- you get out of it what you put into it-- if you lie down and take "NO" for an answer, you won't get your surgery, and if you get your surgery and don't keep up with the aftercare, you'll be miserable. They really emphasized that the surgery was only the begining of the process. When I "fell off of the wagon" and ate things I knew I shouldn't, the exact outcome that the staff told me about occured, and it was as horrible as they'd told me it would be. Even though I had to test the limits, which they all knew and expected I would, I appreciated the accuracy and honesty of their answers. It's good to know where you stand. I would not have changed a thing about my experience--except for the blizzard that occured that weekend!

Hi, My first impression of Dr. Rohrschieb was a favorable one.My husband liked him as well. He was willing to answer all of my questions.

Dr.Rohrscheib knew that both my husband and I are "in the field"(Nursing) and did not waste extra time going over things that were already researched.

Dr.Rohrscheib is very down to earth, he made me feel comfortable very quickly.

His office staff was was very kind and so very helpful, they took care of everything for me, Rita is a jewel!

On my consultation appointment, I was scheduled very quickly for my surgery, And if my school schedule had allowed it, I could have had my surgery on 2 weeks.

Fabulously arrogant! I love that in a surgeon. I feel safe and his staff is wonderful.

Before meeting Dr. Rohrscheib, a friend of mine had recently had the bypass surgery w/ him & had already told me a lot about her very positive experience with him and the surgery. When my husband & I went for my initial consult a year ago, we were both pleased with Dr. R's manner & presentation of the facts. He took plenty of time explaining & illustrating the RNY procedure and answering our questions. If I didn't understand something, he re-answered it in a way that satisfied me. He explained the surgical risks in a way that we felt very informed but not scared to death! I also asked about the lap band procedure, and he explained the differences but also recommended the RNY for me personally. He also explained what my likely results would be as far as weight loss goes. So far, that was the only time I have talked to Dr. Rohrscheib. In regards to surgical competence vs. bedside manner, I would far prefer the first; however, the latter would make for a much more positive overall experience! In my limited time w/ the Dr., I can't really come up w/ anything I disliked about him. The office staff--I can't say enough good about all of them, from that first visit all through this past year while I fulfilled all my insurance requirements and then ended up having to appeal BCBS/IL's decision to deny me. All the ladies were absolutely gems every step of the way--so helpful in every way. I will meet the dietician on 8/25/04, when I go for my pre-op tests, etc. I hope my entire experience is as positive as my dealings so far with Dr. R. & his staff.
