Highland Hospital Bariatrics Bariatric Center
hes the best
office staff was sensitive, polite, pleasant, busy( i think you want a busy office, not busy means no buisness), well educated, supportive, available
pre and post care extensive, necessary and excellent
the only negative thing i can say is dr omalley is quick, in and out , if you have nothing to say. if you have a ton of questions, he will answer each and everyone with wisdom and honesty. but YOU MUST ASK THEM
My first impression with Dr. O'Malley was "Wow he is young, is he qualified". He is also very quiet & reserved. I probably only had a 10 minute conversation total with him through this entire journay. As time went on he came to prove to me he is excellent.
His office staff is very supportive. They have answered my questions regarding insurance, appointments & disability within a prompt timeframe. One day I called 3 times & they were still willing to help.
He has a great aftercare program, with the monthly meeting at the hospital. He hands out numerous phamplets & brocheres to help you understand the surgery. Also different meal plans & new ways of working with food.
His Surgical Competence is rated better over his bedside manner. Remember he is a great surgeon if you are considering wls.
My first time i saw Dr.O'Malley was october 27 2005. I felt very comfy with him.. My family Dr. felt that I should go to him.. if I was to go to anyone. So i went to the orientation and it was very helpful. He was very strong on after care.. It is very important.
My nutrition appointment was Thursday November 3rd.. Which was also very helpful a lot of people have to go to a couple of nutrition appts, but i was very lucky only one.. and this one was very helpful.. and believe it was kind of fun also .. well i already had a diary of 3 months of my foods that i was eating due to my sugar.. was wondering why my sugar was going up.. well i found it .. switching back on to 3rd shift had a lot to do with it...
well now i have to wait for my psychiatrist appt. Which is not until Feb 13 th 2006 still a long time away.. But it will be here soon and then hopefully it will not take long for my surgery.. Well i was looking into this for a long time and Dr william O'malley I feel very comfy with him
Kind, sincere and very caring about his patients.
Dr. O'Malley's office was prompt and I was impressed with the quick response. Dr. O'Malley is a very busy surgeon and has a lot of patients, coming from out of country makes us unique patients, as we require more processesing and there are some frustrations when things break down.
To me he was very straight forward, no nonsense. He told us what he could do for us and what he want from us in order to achieve the best results.
His program seems to be very structured.
He thoroughly explained all risks and complications related to this surgery.
I think my overall rating is based on a comfortable and safe feeling I get from talking to him. I'm placing my life in his hand and feel I can trust him with it.
I believe surgical competence has to be uppermost on any patient's mind. My impression of Dr. O'Malley is that he both competent and caring.
I first saw Dr. O'Malley in October, 2004 during his required seminar. I was impressed with the time he took to make sure we all understood what wls was all about and what he expected from us as canidates. My first one on one with him was everything I thought it would be - he is confident that he can help if you do your part. The office staff was excellent - i got insurance approval first time around and the office called me on a Saturday to give me the good news. My surgery date was March 8, 2005 and went just as expected - not alot of pain and was up and walking that evening. His staff and assistants were there popping in at various times to make sure all was going well with me. I saw Dr. O'Malley at least once a day in the morning and his staff several times a day. He has implemented a staff of people for the initial visits with the nutrishionist and for the psych evaluation and everthing went very smoothly. Dr. O'Malley was my lifesaver - he have me the tool I needed to get on the road to being a more healthy person and I would do this all over again in a heartbeat. He says what he means and means what he says and what some say is a lack of bedside manor - he more than makes up with his skill and professionalism and desire for a successful surgery and after care.
I met with Dr. O'Malley after going thru the mandatory information session. I found him to be very informed and I felt very comfortable with him. I was impressed that he would not do the surgery on someone who smokes as he considers the operation to be life saving and feels smoking is anything but healthy. He made me feel very comfortable and I feel that he makes sure before any surgery that he is prepared. All in all I was very impressed.
I didn't exchange a hundred words with Dr O'Malley from the start of my journey to today three days post op. He was respectful and kind but not warm and fuzzy or chatty. That's OK with me because he is technically brilliant and he didn't kill me.
His office staff and team is another story. The two nurtitionists I dealt with were patronizing and each told me wrong and erroneous "facts" regarding my insurer's requirements.
Faxed reports disappeared completely. Messages left for me were wrong. I had to call them for every bit of information despite being told repeatedly not to call them because they'd take care of it in a timely fashion. I feel I'd be having my surgery next year if I had left it to them.
The receptionist in the office was vacant and rude to the point of stupid. I do not understand why she has her position. I am not a violent woman but I swear I wanted to reach through the window and smack her!
Highland Hospital and Dr O'Malley and his partners are making a Bariatric Center as we speak. I think they need to make reevaluating members of their staff a priority.
