I MET MY SURGEON FIRST AT THE SIMINAR SHE SEEMED HONEST STRAIGHT FORWARD YET SENSITIVE HER OFFICE STAFF IS FRIENDLY, HELPFUL, AND VERY KNOWLEDGEBLE. BOTH SURGICAL COMPETENCE AND BEDSIDE MANNER ARE GREAT QUALITIES SHE PORTRAYS.

Dr Chu is very informative and explains the different surgeries, then discuss which one is best for you. She explains everything that will happen after surgery lets you know what will happen good or bad. My follow up visits have gone well, she is very concerned and keeps up with lab work. Also nutrition is important and you have scheduled meetings with a nutritionist. There are phone numbers to call if you have any questions. They let you know they are there to treat you and follow your care for the rest of your life.

WHEN I FIRST MET DR. STEVENS I THOUGHT HE WAS VERY QUIET AND I WONDERED WHAT HAD I DONE IN CHOOSING HIM. BUT AS MY VISIT PROGRESSED I REALIZED HE WAS VERY KNOWLEDGABLE IN WHAT HE DID AND A VERY CARING DOCTOR AND PERSON. THE STAFF WAS VERY PATIENT AND KIND AND ABLE TO ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS. OF COURSE THE COORDINATOR WAS OUT ON MATERNITY LEAVE AND I WAS UNABLE TO SEE HER AND THE NUTRITIONIST WAS OUT THE SAME DAY SO THAT WAS ANOTHER RESCHUEDLED VISIT.

Dr. Chu is AWESOME!!!! She is so patient and understanding. I had a thousand questions for my first appointment and she took the time to answer each and every one of them. I also had a lot of trouble with my insurance. I work for Vermilion Parish School Board and they are self insured through United Health Care. Dr. Chu attended 2 school board meeting (6:00 P.M.) to help me plead my case. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful but what doctor will take time out of their busy schedules to support their patient for a certain cause. rnrnI'm so impressed with Dr. Chu. She won me over and I have lots of confidence in her. I have decided to pay cash for the surgery.

I was very impressed with Dr. Stephens. He was not at all pushy and answered all of my questions. I am a self pay patient and he made both me and my husband feel that all precautions would be taken to not have trouble afterward. I had heard of Dr. Stephens from my daughter who was a nurse on the med/surgery floor several years ago. She said that he was a very caring doctor and took good care of his patients. I found that to be completely true.
His office staff is very friendly. He requires meetings with his dietition periodically for the first year and then yearly after that. They also strongly suggest that you go to support group meetings monthly.
I would rate him a 9 on a 1-10 scale in bedside manner and competence. (No one is perfect)
The only thing I didn't like, is that he tends to run late. I guess that is the price to pay for a caring surgeon.

My impression of her never changed she WAS a very nice lady and she was very informative. Her staff is awsome, all of the ladies are so sweet especially Mrs. Jan the dietician.

MY FIRST IMPRESSION OF DR STEVENS WAS A LITTLE SKEPTICAL. BUT WHEN I WENT FOR MY FIRST APPT WITH HIM AFTER THE SEMINAR I CHANGED MY MIND COMPLETLY. I DECIDED THAT THE MAN DID KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING SO I WAS GONNA LET HIM DO IT. HIS OFFICE STAFF ARE GREAT, THEY ARE ALL SMILING AND ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING GOOD TO SAY. THEY ARE KINDA LIKE THEIR OWN LITTLE SUPPORT GROUP KEEPING THE PATIENTS IN A GOOD MOOD. I HAVEN'T HAD MY SURGERY AS OF YET BUT I AM LOOKING FOR EVERYTHING TO GO SMOOTHLY. HE MADE SURE THAT I UNDERSTOOD WHAT COULD GO WRONG IN SURGERY BUT WHEN I WEIGHED THOSE AGAINST STAYING OVERWEIGHT AND THE PROBLEMS I COULD HAVE DOWN THE ROAD WELL THE SURGERY WON OUT. I WOULD RECOMMEND DR STEVENS TO ANYONE WHO ASKS AND MAYBE EVEN THOSE THAT DONT ASK.

I really like Dr. Stevens and all of his office staff. I feel very relaxed and he talks with you about what will happen before and after surgery.

First meeting was very good. I felt comfortable and able to communicate well with him. His staff is very professional and thorough. He listened well and actually examined me. After care is very strongly required and structured. I was fully informed of the risks of surgery thru a video before the office visit with the doctor. I rate him excellent. i plan to have my surgery by him.

Dr. Chu is very nice and knowledgeable. The only problem I have with my experience, Kelly, the coordinator, did not do her job. I did call my insurance company 4 weeks after submitting my file, to find out they never received it. Kelly did not follow up on my case whatsoever. If it had not been for me calling, I'd still be waiting. Dr. CHu encourages you to ask questions. Dr. CHu does stress aftercare. You are to keep all postop visits.The risks of surgery were explained thoroughly. I would rate Dr. CHu an 8/10. I prefer surgical competence.
